Chapter 2 The Origin of the Wild Hunt

Dim and dilapidated houses.

The pupils of the four pairs of beasts emitted strange lights—four witch hunters surrounded a quint board with a cup of malt and hop-smelling beer.

"Bang!"

The young witch hunter threw the Gent card onto the board, then smiled at the man in the hooded shawl opposite,

"You lost!"

"Damn!" Ox grabbed the back of his head in annoyance, "I said Roy, are you lying about your age, fourteen? You can beat me, and you won two in a row."

"Unprecedented, a big failure!"

After complaining, Oaks picked up a glass of beer and slurped it down. His gray sleeves wiped away the wine stains from the corner of his mouth, and then reluctantly took out a glittering Gent from his arms.

"My baby has not been warmed up yet, and you won it again!"

"Now you know it's amazing?" Resou ridiculed the other side with a sarcastic look, "I have warned you long ago to drink some wine, and I insist on playing cards with this little devil."

"What do you know? Beating Gunte can best judge a person's character... Well... Now it seems that the young man is not very good at being a human being. He is neither big nor small, and he knows how to value seniors at all!"

Oaks stammered his neck and stared at Roy stubbornly.

"Let me know! I will win it back with the color in the next move! Seret, don't pull me! I have agreed to rotate three times, why are you anxious? You can't let me vent my anger first!?"

Roy smiled and put away the Gent card. The card face was a familiar white-haired face. The character included by the Gent committee because of a Bravican massacre that didn't know how many years ago - Geralt of Livia, where is the legendary witch hunter?

The boy's eyes shifted to the opposite side, and the witch hunter Ox acted like a heartless and carefree guy. Of course, it cannot be ruled out that this was his disguise, after all, he had not been in contact with the other party for a long time.

"Eighty-one years old, the same age as Seret. Are these two guys not only brothers, but also twin brothers?"

Oaks and Threit have the same attributes as Resor, and there are still a lot of question marks in their attributes. As mature witch hunters, their combat power is far superior to Roy. In addition to the differences in appearance, their personalities are also completely different.

Oaks is enthusiastic and cheerful, a little talkative, while Seret is gloomy and quiet, with a long and narrow gap in his nose and eyes, as if he is thinking about conspiracy anytime and anywhere.

"With their contradictory character, how come they have been in peace for decades? Is blood relationship so reliable among the witch hunters?"

"I almost forgot the serious business!" Roy slapped his head and asked anxiously, "Don't bother you, Old Moore, Suzy, and the others in Novigri?"

"I thought you had completely forgotten the old couple." Ox glanced at him, who was slightly ashamed.

He did ignore the old Moore and his wife. After half a year of separation, he never contacted him except for one letter exchange.

"Don't worry, their business at Novigri's restaurant is going well - in fact, without you, you can live a very comfortable life."

"Is that true?" Roy breathed a sigh of relief, with a look of gratitude, and a little indescribable loss.

"They also asked me to bring good news and a surprise," Oaks glanced at Roy with a smile, and the brother Serrit's eyes became weird.

"What surprise?"

"Your old mom Suzy is two months pregnant! The next time you see them again, you will have an extra brother or sister."

"Are you surprised?"

"Uh... pregnant? Brother, sister?"

Roy's eyebrows were twisted into a ball, and his mood was extremely complicated, and he was stunned for ten seconds.

A long sigh of relief.

"I'm not with them, the old couple is alone, having another child is lively. What's the problem?"

The three demon hunters noticed his abnormality and exchanged glances, which made him quiet for a few minutes. Then, Resou comforted softly, "Little Devil, you must understand one thing. After choosing the grass trial, you say goodbye to a normal life."

"The environment you are in and the people you are dating are completely different from the past decade. Your life trajectory will gradually move away from your parents until there is no intersection anymore!"

"You mean I'll break off relations with them?" Roy was slightly angry, and a little confused.

"This is not a moral issue... We are destined to wander. When you want to settle down, the old Moore couple, as normal people, are no longer alive."

Resso sighed.

"You will understand later."

Roy lowered his head and fell into silence.

Oaks brought a glass of wine to him, "I have to add something if Resso just said..."

He pressed the shoulders of the young witch hunter heavily, "Now the environment of the northern countries still discriminates against witch hunters. It is no exaggeration to say that if you often appear by the old Moore couple, it will greatly affect their normal lives."

"We are not forcing you to make a choice. You have to be mentally prepared. As far as I know, no child can return to his original family after becoming a witch hunter."

"It will only be completely broken."

...

"Okay, let's not mention old Moore's matter yet, let's continue playing cards."

Roy shook his head and dispelled the chaotic thoughts in his mind. These questions could only be verified by him in the future to face his heart.

"Sorry, three, I don't have the heart to continue playing cards now."

"Drinking? The newcomer must have a drink with us!" Seret said with his eyes wide open.

"Of course, but please allow me to ask a question first."

Roy glanced at the bald man, "I have been following Resor for half a year and I have been listening to him nagging in my ears. The Viper School is on the verge of destruction, so we came to Sintra to make some special arrangements to save the school?"

"Can you tell me how dangerous the Viper School is? Resor, Oaks, Seret, the four of us are the only remaining demon hunters who have won the Snake School?"

"Look, I said he would definitely ask this!" Ox showed off to his brother seriously.

"Boy, except for the four people present, the snake sect demon hunter Kogrim collected the lost weapons of the snake sect all over the world. Another snake sect's most powerful demon hunter, Ivar Eye, never heard back after he disappeared twenty years ago."

"The last two stupid guys, it's better not to mention them!" A hint of anger surged in Ox's tone.

Kogrim Roy's attention was attracted by this familiar name. In my memory, the guy's body was found in a white orchard, but there were still ten years before that time. Now he is still unsure whether he is dead or alive.

"So, there are four or eight existing snake witch hunters?"

In fact, this scale is not small in the witch hunter school—all witch hunter schools are declining.

"How did our school decline to this point? Are the Snake School's academy located in the southern Nifgaard Empire?"

"There are so many problems, boy!" Oaks grabbed the wine glass in front of him and took a mouthful, with a deep loneliness flashing in his eyes.

"The Snake Academy is located next to Nifgad, in the Fortress of the Tyr Tosha Mountains called Gusvede..." Oaks looked proud, "There is a high tower that is eye-catching, circling with terrifying steps, and a moat that is hundreds of deep. It is a fortress like a natural chasm."

"It's a pity that it's decline after all. As for the reasons, it's quite complicated."

"First of all, in recent years, the requirements for law and order in the Nifgad Empire have become increasingly high," Resor took his words and said to himself, "Alien like us who are superb are prone to wander outside the law and are unwilling to the empire, so they are suppressed."

"The negative propaganda of the empire has made the living environment of the Southern Witch Hunter more difficult. The people have become no longer trusting us. The law of accidents seems to them as filthy magic. It is even more impossible to give our children to us for training as rewards."

"We have thought of adopting displaced war orphans, but people are regarded as evil and reported."

Roy agreed that even in the north, there are fewer and fewer unexpected sons, and people's prejudice against witch hunters is getting deeper and deeper.

"Without the soil for survival of the Demon Hunter Academy in the south, the college will naturally wither. However, I firmly believe that this situation can improve. The misunderstandings of the people and the country about the Demon Hunter will eventually be eliminated."

Resso clenched his fist.

"But it was the disaster that caused a fatal blow to Viper Academy twenty years ago."

"Disaster? What kind of disaster?" There are very few documents about the Viper School, and even the specific address is mysterious, let alone the college disaster.

"This is a disaster caused by wild hunting." Resor looked at the young witch hunter and said, "You little dear, don't you know a lot of things? Have you heard of wild hunting?"

The latter's face darkened, and of course he knew the famous Wild Hunter.

The bald man began to continue introducing,

"In folklore, wild hunting is a group of immortal ghost knights. They wear rusty armor, hold lightning-shaped swords, ride skeleton horses, and swarm across the sky in groups. They usually appear in winter, or long nights before war, ravaging the world, burning orchards and houses, and taking away living people...most of them are children."

However, in fact, Roy knew very well that the true identity of Wild Hunter was the Ain Elle tribe in another world, that is, one of the branches of the elves.

They crossed countless worlds and turned into ghost knights, just to find the heirs of the ancient blood and regain the complete ability to travel through time and space.

"This is not a legend." At this time, Resor gritted his teeth, "More than 20 years ago, because of the absence of the Evil Eye and the two idiots, the Viper School was unable to withstand the attack of the wild hunting. The two children in the academy who had just passed the trial of the grass were all kidnapped by the Wild Hunting Army. The school has no successor and is facing disbandment."

"Wait!" Roy said in surprise, "I'm following your words, Wild Hunting has attacked Viper Academy more than once?"

"That's right..." Seret's face on the other side was cold as frosty, "Each school has its own strength trial, and Viper Academy will be baptized by wild hunting every ten years and use it to test the new witch hunter."

"In fact, at the beginning of its founding, the school has designated wild hunting as its lifelong enemy. Because the great founder, our mentor, Ivar Evil Eye, has a lofty ideal to defeat wild hunting and end the fear they bring to the world!"

"Little devil, you have to remember that this is the ultimate goal of any snake witch hunter, and the priority is no less than that of the revitalization school."

"I remember, I promise you that defeating the wild hunt will be my lifelong pursuit..."

Roy made a solemn promise, and a question in his heart was answered.

"The Snake Sect will preserve a large amount of documents about wild hunting, so that's the case."

However, the Snake Sect is really a complex school. It has committed vicious assassination, but it has lofty ultimate ideals.

"I have always been curious about why the name of Lord Ival is called Evil Eye. What is the special meaning?" There is no such surname in the world of the witch hunter. It was definitely made up by the Lord himself.

"Because of Lord Ivar..." Resor Amber's pupils showed a look of reverence, "his eyes gained unique abilities in the mutation... could see other infinite worlds, hence the name 'Evil Eye'."

"Through the evil eyes, he kept seeing the scenes of the wild hunting ghost knights plundering, slaughtering and conquest. These ghosts became the teacher's obsession and became his original intention of creating the school."

So is the missing Snake Sect founder still alive?

Roy had a premonition in his heart, maybe that lord was just lost in other planes.
