890. Second Christmas
Christmas Eve is a very important day. Ordinary families will reunite and enjoy the joy of family reunion. Families with a larger population will even hold a celebration such as a masquerade.
There were enough people in the fishing ground. Qin Shiou originally wanted to hold a masked dance party, but later found that everyone actually enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere of chatting and drinking beer, rather than really going crazy to have something to do.
The fishermen are over the age of playing, and the children like it, but they prefer to set off fireworks, so they don’t have the chance to play this.
In Newfoundland in winter, it is dark very early. From the afternoon, gorgeous fireworks and sharp sounds appear in the sky of the island.
This scared the little beasts in the fishing grounds. They kept running and hiding. The deer and wild boars obediently got back to the small farm. The poultry were much more stable. They gathered the panicked chickens, ducks and gossips in their wings, and they should go to bed.
The Christmas Eve is an event held in the church at Christmas Eve Mass.
Farewell Island is a Protestant, and he does not attach much importance to Mass. Orthodox Church generally attaches great importance to this. Qin Shiou doesn't know much about the difference between Catholicism, Orthodox Church, and Protestantism. He joins in the fun, so he does whatever everyone does.
Dinner started when the sky was dark at six o'clock. Winnie called back the children who set off fireworks on the lawn and started to enjoy this hearty dinner.
Qin Shiou waited for the children to take their seats and said, "Do you want to say something? To Miranda, Fox and Winnie, I think you have seen it. How difficult it is for them to prepare this supper, right?"
He was indeed very grateful to his sister-in-law and mother-in-law. The family was going to go back to celebrate Christmas. But his sister-in-law was married and should have accompanied Armand to meet his parents' home for the holiday.
But after Winnie decided to stay in the fishing ground for festivals, Miranda, Fox and others also decided to stay, of course, to take care of Winnie.
Now the relationship between Winnie's family has almost recovered. At least Winnie and Fox can sit together and watch "The Big Bang Them" and then laugh together.
Shirley, Powell, Gordon and Michelle stood up and kissed Miranda, Fox, and Winnie's foreheads one by one. This is the blessing of the Son and it is also of particularity.
Qin Shiou asked them to kiss him too, but Shirley hugged King Simba and came over.
After King Simba was full and warm, he finally grew fat. His little long hair spread out in a fluffy way, looking fat and fat, with a small round face ready to act cute at any time. Shirley carried it to Qin Shiou, and it immediately bulged its cheeks and showed a cute expression.
Qin Shiou pinched its fat cheeks and said helplessly: "I really don't understand, is this guy a lynx or a coffee cat? Shouldn't he make a living by relying on hunting skills?"
The little carrot head was originally lying at Winnie's feet. When she saw Simba acting cute again, she curled her lips in disdain. Hu Zi and Leopard lay on Qin Shiou's knees and stood up. She raised her head and knocked Simba away, resolutely not allowing it to successfully act cute.
After dinner, Qin Shiou's family went to the town church to attend the mass. The event was divided into two sessions, one held from 9 to 10 pm, and another grand mass was held at midnight. This was the ** of Christmas Eve.
When they drove to the church, it was already crowded with people, and several devout believers stood at the door.
The mass was presided over by the old pastor Green. Qin Shiou sent Winnie in, and a seat was left for the pregnant woman in the front row. There was an empty one next to it, which was originally reserved for the bull's wife Anna. But she obviously couldn't come, so Qin Shiou sat down.
Pastor Green stood in front of the donation platform, holding the Bible in one hand and gestured on his chest with the other hand, and said in a low voice: "...The Lord makes us happy every year in anticipation of salvation. Tonight we know that the Lord will come to save us, and tomorrow morning we will see the glory of the Lord. All living beings will see the salvation of our God..."
The pastor read a sentence to ease it, and the followers read it. Qin Shiou looked solemn and came to read it with the big smile. Although he was not a believer, it is obviously better to respect everyone's faith in this occasion.
At half past ten, the mass ended, and everyone either went home or chatted together in groups of three or three, and then waited for the highlight, midnight mass.
It is said that the Vatican midnight mass can attract 40,000 to 50,000 devout believers to watch. At that time, there will be stage plays to perform classic stories in the Bible, and the Pope will pray for believers around the world.
The Midnight Mass in the town is much simpler, but there is also a stage play at the beginning that performs the scene of Jesus’ birth in the stable.
The choir in the town behind led the townsmen to sing poems, "Praise Our Lord and Father". Qin Shiou leaned back a little at this time. He couldn't sing, so he felt a little embarrassed to stand in front, so he would rather be an audience behind.
Then, when Pastor Green was controlling the field, this grand mass would have a theme. Pastor Green gave a short speech, and he talked about the topic he had met Qin Shiou in a community hospital before and then discussed, and talked about the view that "good will be God."
This cannot be said in Orthodox Church, because Orthodox Church emphasizes the supremacy of God, and Protestantism does not matter, Protestantism emphasizes justification by faith and that everyone can be a pastor.
After the speech, everyone continued to sing poems and recite the Bible, praying for their family, friends, and every believer brother and sister.
When Pastor Green was praying for blessings, he specifically mentioned Qin Shiou and prayed for him and the fishing ground, which moved Qin Shiou.
At midnight, the Mass was over, and Christmas was coming, and Pastor Green waved his arms and the believers in black robe rang the big bell.
The crisp bells spread to all directions of the island, conveying forgiveness, blessings, joy, and happiness to every corner of the town.
After returning, Qin Shiou let the children fall asleep, while he, Winnie and Auerbach prepare gifts.
The children had been having fun all day, and the routine they had developed, so they were already sleepy at this time. After they went back, they fell into a deep sleep when they lay on the bed.
Qin Shiou put the small gift he prepared into the socks at the head of their bed. If the gift was too big and could not be put in, he would put a key and the gift box was hung on the Christmas tree at the door.
In the morning, it was time to open the gifts, and cheers rang one after another. Qin Shiou and Winnie gave a gift together. They gave Miranda and Fox one by one, a piece of black pearl jewelry, and Mario was a carbon fishing rod.
The things given to the children were more creative, and they remembered by Qin Shiou and Winnie. They gave Powell a rein, Shirley a light and comfortable seat, Gordon a pair of sled car base plates, and Michelle a sled car frame.
These things are combined into a sled car.
Qin Shiou looked out the window with regret and said, "It's a pity that there was no snow on Christmas, but after the next snow, I think you will use them, right?"
"But Qin, where are we going to find reindeer? The reindeer in the fishing ground is too small, and they can't drag the car."
Qin Shiou looked at the pineapple that was bored eating grass. The latter raised his head vigilantly, always feeling that something bad happened... (To be continued...)
