Chapter 29 Yin-Yang Marriage

My master is a master hidden among the people. In addition to doing paper work and helping people watch houses and Feng Shui, he has another identity, which is a funeral master. Following his master, I know the funeral customs in my hometown very well. I have never seen the funeral phenomenon of sprinkling some paper money and burning some grass paper every time. The madman said that the man's hand was picked up in the grass nest next to the road. I felt that the man's hand might have some connection with the paper money and paper ash on the road.

I took out some food from our bag and gave it to the madman. After the madman left happily, I put the hand in a plastic bag, buried it next to a tree on the side of the road, and made a mark.

"I feel that there may be something strange about it. Should I go along this road and take a look?" I asked Miss Bai and Yang Shujun.

"I have no objection." Yang Shujun spread his hands.

"You can do whatever you say," said Miss Bai.

"Okay." I nodded, "You two are waiting here, I'll drive over."

After finding the path, I drove over and the two got on. The road was very narrow and could only accommodate an off-road vehicle. Fortunately, no car came from the opposite side along the way, and I didn't meet anyone. I lowered the car very slowly. While walking, I looked at the roadside. I could see paper money and paper dust every other section. I walked almost a mile and went down a slope to a small village near the river.

There is a dirt pit next to the road at the entrance of the village, with a lot of leftover paper items inside. On the other side of the road is a threshing farm. We parked our car on the threshing farm and walked towards the village.

The village is very small, with old bungalows lined with roads, and moss was growing at the base of the walls. There is a convenience store in the village, which is black and full of the smell of soy sauce and vinegar. The boss is an old man wearing reading glasses. I bought a pack of cigarettes and gave one for the old man, so I started chatting with him.

"Uncle, is anyone in your village passed away?" I asked.

"No." The old man was stunned.

I pointed outside and said that when we came over, we saw a lot of paper money and paper ash on the roadside, and there was a pit burning paper at the entrance of the village.

The old man suddenly realized the long "Oh" and lowered his voice, saying mysteriously that it was not someone who passed away, but someone who got married.

"Marry?" Miss Bai and Yang Shujun asked in surprise at the same time.

The old man told us that the son of the village chief, Xiaohu, was terminally ill and was almost out of reach. The village chief asked someone to arrange a marriage for Xiaohu, saying that the daughter of a family a hundred miles away had passed away and married Xiaohu. Today, he took the body before dawn and got married to Xiaohu tonight. The paper money and paper dust were made when he brought the female corpse into the village. The old man said that the village chief had already found a relationship and would take the female corpse to cremate early tomorrow morning after the ceremony. When Xiaohu died, he would bury the ashes of the two.

I frowned and thought to myself, what era is this? Why do you still have Yin-Yang marriages? Could it be that the hand that the madman picked up by the road was the female corpse? The old man said that Yin-Yang marriages must be tied at night, and they cannot be tied at home. The village chief has already found someone to set up a wedding stand outside the village, and many people will definitely go to watch the fun tonight.

After leaving the convenience store, we came outside the village and saw a straw shed built in a field near the river. Many villagers pointed at the outside of the shed.

"Fuck this." Yang Shujun shook his head, "If I were that little tiger, I would be scared to death if I didn't die. What kind of feudal habits are they?"

"I feel that the female corpse may be from the wrong way." I said.

"Do you want to come here to have a look at it at night?" asked Ms. Bai.

"Those who know me."

Yang Shujun and Miss Bai actually wanted to see it, after all, it was very strange to get married in the yin and yang. That afternoon, the three of them slept in the car. When they woke up, it started to drizzle outside.

After eating, it got dark and we arrived at the wedding hall early, and saw three layers inside and three layers outside. We squeezed into the crowd and saw three sides of the wedding hall surrounded by cloth, with a table inside. Two red and white candles stood on the table. The candlelight reflected the layers of wedding cakes and fruits on the table. Two strong men were smoking cigarettes and sitting behind the table.

After waiting for more than two hours, there was no movement. Many people were impatient. Some women or children could not bear the sleepiness and went home one after another. Until eleven o'clock, there was still no movement. Most of the people had left, and the people who stayed there were no interest in chatting and kept yawning.

"Are you sleepy?" I asked Miss Bai.

She smiled and shook her head.

"Are you hungry?" Yang Shujun said, "Uncle, I'll go back to get you some food."

Yang Shujun stood up and was about to leave, but suddenly there was a riot in the people outside.

"Here's here!"

I stood on tiptoe and saw a few people swaying with flashlights and light beams swaying towards this side. First, there was a middle-aged man wearing Zhongshan suit and a gloomy face, and a villager called him to the village chief. Behind was the village chief's wife, who was held by two women, looked very haggard and staggering. Behind, a strong man was carrying a coma boy on his back. The boy looked only thirteen or fourteen years old at most, and should be Xiaohu, the son of the village chief.

A few people entered the shed, and the two strong men hurriedly gave up their seats. After almost half an hour, a donkey cart slowly drove from a distance, and the crowd immediately became quiet, because everyone knew that the female corpse must be pulled in the car. The light rain flew, and a gentleman Yin and Yang directed the driver to drive the donkey cart to creak and walk in the dark wilderness, and soon came to the front. Miss Bai was a little nervous and held my hand.

"Come on, come on two people." Yin Yang people hiccupped, "Pick the bride down."

The two strong men walked forward, spitted two spits into their palms, and jumped into the car. Everyone was nervous and stared at them intently. The atmosphere was very depressing. As the two strong men lifted the quilt in the car, I smelled a strong fragrance, probably to cover up the smell of the corpse.

Immediately afterwards, they lifted a straight man off the car. The man was wearing a red robe and tied a piece of red cloth around his head with a red rope. He could not see his face, his robe sleeves were wide and long, and his hands were not seen.

The 'bride' was carried into the shed, and the two of them stood there with their hands on their left and right. With Mr. Yin and Yang's auspicious time coming, Xiaohu was supported by two women and knelt on the ground.

The onlookers stared at this ridiculous scene with wide eyes. Mr. Yin and Yang shouted to worship the heaven and earth. The two women held Xiaohu and bowed. The bride's legs would not be bent at all, so they could only lie down straight. After worshiping the heaven and earth, they worshiped the high hall, and then the couple worshiped each other. When the couple worshiped each other, something happened. Xiaohu, who had been unconscious, suddenly woke up. Seeing the bride who bowed straight towards him, he was so scared that he screamed strangely. The two strong men who supported the bride and the two women who supported Xiaohu were actually in a state of high tension. When he was scared by Xiaohu, he jumped to the side with a shout. Xiaohu fell forward and the bride lying on Xiaohu.

The onlookers were like exploding groups of chickens, "booming" and suddenly spread out. The little tiger was frightened and smashed, rolled his eyes, and thrust all over his body. Several people patted their chests and rubbed their backs. After a while, the little tiger recovered and fell into a coma again.

"Okay, okay, don't watch it." The village chief waved to the crowd and asked the Yin-Yang Mr. "What, is this considered a polite?"

Mr. Yin and Yang nodded.

"Okay." The village chief said to the two strong men, "You two carry the bride..."

Before he finished speaking, the village chief froze because the bride was gone!

The bride was lying straight on Xiaohu before. The village chief cursed the two strong men and asked them to lift the bride aside. At that time, the crowd was riots. After the crowd calmed down, everyone's attention was focused on the little tiger. Even I didn't notice when the bride disappeared.

The atmosphere at that time was so strange that the people in the wedding hall, including the village chief, were all covered in cold sweat. Where did the bride go?

Suddenly someone shouted, "She's here!"

The bride somehow ran away behind the crowd! Everyone shouted and scattered. In an instant, only me, Miss Bai and Yang Shujun were left outside the shed. Even Mr. Yin and Yang ran away, and the donkey cart drove away. The reason why the people in the shed didn't run away was not because they were brave, but instinctively hid in the corner of the shed and did not dare to come out.

Looking at the dead bride who was about five or six meters away from us, I felt a chill on the back of my head and thought to myself, is this a fucking zombie?

The bride stood up straight, her sleeves swaying gently in the wind. I calmed down and said to Yang Shujun and Miss Bai in a low voice, don't move, I'll go over and take a look.

"Be careful." Miss Bai said nervously.

"Xiao Leng, be careful, it may be a zombie." Yang Shujun said.

"Don't worry."

I took out a piece of talisman paper I carried with me and plucked up my courage to walk towards the bride. When I was more than one meter away, I stopped, but the bride was still motionless. Because I was very close, I could smell the stench of the corpse emitted from her body, mixed with the strong smell of inferior perfume, which made me feel stomach cramped and want to get nauseated.

I held my nausea, held my breath and took a step forward with my right leg. The hand holding the talisman tentatively stretched towards the bride carefully, until my hand touched the bride's body, and she still didn't move. Suddenly, a strong thought rose from the bottom of my heart, that is, I really want to see what the bride looks like.
