Chapter 73 Siege (43)(4/4)

And on this side of the hillside, Aldame understood that victory - at least today's victory, had gone far away from him.

"Get back," Aldame ordered hoarsely.

The three brigades of [steadfast] slowly retreated to the high ground, leaving behind corpses spread all over the hillside.

The Tiefeng County Regiment did not pursue the head, just like the Alliance Army in the Battle of Marino thirty years ago.

In the evening, Luosong Jiula, who had cleaned the battlefield, came to find Winters. As soon as he met, the major said, "I want to take back my previous words."

Winters didn't speak, but just raised his eyelids slightly.

After running back and forth on the Provincial Avenue, Luo Song Jiula, who had seen someone's real ability, was still scared. "Sure enough, there was no wrong nickname, 'Wolf Blood', which was a bit awkward. You... You are simply a lion, Venetta lion, and flying winged lion!"

"That's what you mean?" Winters asked tiredly.

"No," Luo Song shook his head and smiled, "I'm here to congratulate you."

He said solemnly, "Congratulations, Lord Montane, for [steadfastness] has been eaten by you."

"I haven't eaten yet," Winters' mood was cold and pulled away, which was one of the sequelae of overcasting. "The Emerald Ferry is still in the hands of [steadfast]. In theory, Van Sgo Aldame still has a chance to turn the tables."

"To say the least," Luo Song didn't care, "[Zhenzhen] has been bitten in your mouth."

Winters laughed a few times.

Luo Song could not understand the emotions that Venetta lion wanted to convey through this laughter, and he only felt that the laughter was a bit terrifying.

"Wrong, Major," said Winters, "In fact, from the beginning of the war, Van Sgo Aldame did nothing wrong. If I were him, I would have launched a pursuit and occupied the 50th Highlands. I would not have only one brigade in the Cardia, but the ending would not be very different from his current situation."

"What do you mean?" Luo Song was puzzled.

Winters stood up and looked at the 50th highland in the twilight. "Then is the moment to test Van Sgoyle Ardame's determination."

"Make a choice, Colonel Aldame," Winters murmured to himself, talking to his opponent in a distance, "Is it a fish-death battle and breaking through overnight? Or is it a hope that the troops of Jade Ferry will stick to their support? You must make a choice tonight, and your choice will determine the life and death of [steadfast]."

Luo Song looked at Winters' back and suddenly asked, "What do you think he would choose?"

"I don't know," Winters turned around, shook his head and answered honestly.

"What would you choose?" Luo Song asked again.

Winters calmly replied: "Breaking through the siege will inevitably suffer heavy losses, but 'reason' tells me that I should break through immediately; if I stick to the support, I may face variables. If I firmly hold on to it, I will have 'hope'."

Luo Song listened with all his attention.

"And hope, every time, can overcome reason," Winters was as cold and ruthless as steel, "this is why I left the Emerald Ferry to [steadfastness]."

At night, at the "cardia", Mason waved the shovel while encouraging the reserve officers beside him.

"Dig!" Mason said with a smile, "You know, the day of engineers starts at night!"

This chapter is not over, please click on the next page to continue reading! As he said that, the orderly officer came to report, "Major, Major Luo Song wants to see you."

The smile on Mason's face froze.

He sighed, put down the shovel, and followed the orderly to the back of the 30th Heights.

He thought Luo Song was here to hold the enemy accountable, but because of the test of pulling artillery, it failed. Three gun chariots and two were dispersed. In the end, Luo Song's cavalry team relayed the cannons and carried them outside the enemy's chariots and then assembled them on the spot, so that they did not delay the trouble.

Even so, three cannons only took two rounds. If you only have effective shooting, then there will be only one round.

So as soon as we met, Mason bowed deeply to Luo Song.

"I'm not ready," Mason apologized, "I..."

Unexpectedly, Luo Song grabbed Mason's hand and made Mason's hand hurt.

"His Excellency Mason," said Luo Song to Mason seriously, "There is a lot to do when pulling the cannon!"

Late at night, a team of Hussars were patrolling the road leading to the Emerald Ferry.

The [steadfast] cannons and the carriage that transported the cannons were parked on the side of the road.

Several sentries guarded them vigilantly and confirmed that it was their own Hussars, and then put down the hammer and spikes in their hands.

The new army now has no spare energy to recover these spoils, so they can only throw them here temporarily.

The Hussars came to ensure that the Unionists at the Emerald Ferry would not quietly drag these treasures away at night.

In the team, a young man named Alexander has not yet escaped from the excitement of the day.

"Today's war was so happy! Sir," the young Hussar looked at the cannon and grinned, "It's so happy!"

"It's not that good," Andrea said coldly, "but, war, it's really long time since."

Winters was wearing heavy armor and sword across his knees, like a marble statue, sitting quietly on the hillside, staring at the high ground where the enemy was located until dawn.

Winters spoke when the first ray of golden light overflowed the horizon.

"[Stay] is over," he said lightly.

Van Sgoyle Aldame also stayed up all night.

But what shocked him was not the sunrise, but the sound of hoofs coming from afar at sunrise.

The sound of thunderous hooves showed the [steadfast] end.

Aldame's heart seemed to be held in his hand hard by a demon.

It's over, [steadfast].
