Chapter 711 All kinds of accidents

In this scene being filmed, the boss of Bullet Town was blinded by Ferosa, and swept wildly with two guns while exclaiming.

The first two lines are as bold and graceful as epic, "I am the balance of justice and the conductor of the death choir."

The last sentence literally says, "Roar, brothers Koch!"

The Koch brothers are obviously his favorite name for himself two guns.

So who are the Koch brothers? They are two contemporary American billionaires David Koch and Charles Koch, known for their active participation in politics, conservative and hawks, and are fanatical supporters of the Republican Party.

It is the year of the US election. In the current Republican election, the Koch brothers claim to donate $500 million, and many people think they can influence the Republican candidate nomination.

They are also considered war madmen by the American left, and the policies they support will lead to the World Nuclear War.

Hollywood has never been away from politics. Duke only wrote the framework of the script. When several screenwriters wrote, they obviously brought some personal political views into it, and were also ignored by him, as the director.

After Duke discovered this, he deleted these things immediately, and he didn't need to mock some politicians in the film.

As time approaches Christmas, shooting will never go smoothly, and some factors are something that Duke cannot control, such as the weather.

The climate in New Mexico is a typical desert climate, warm and dry, with plenty of sunshine and low humidity. Although some places can have annual rainfall of 1,000 mm, the area where the gypsum desert is located is definitely not included.

However, just a few days before Christmas, light rain came unexpectedly, and it was drizzling. This was definitely not the climate that the wasteland world with low water and rain should have. Duke simply paused the shooting, but fortunately the on-site progress was slightly ahead of the plan and would not cause much delay.

Duke had free time, and the deputy editor-in-chief of the Los Angeles Times came to the door and wanted to have an exclusive interview with the movie.

For the sake of publicity, Duke did not refuse. He put up a few large sun umbrellas in the light rain, and while enjoying the rare rain scene in the wasteland, he talked about the movie.

The tiny raindrops hit the sun umbrella, making a slight noise. The weather was a little cooler, so Sarah tightened her coat and turned on the recorder.

"You didn't have any auditions for the hero and heroine of this film..." she asked first. "Why did Tom Cruise and Charlize Theron?"

"I like to look for the moments when sparks burst into like-minded thoughts."

Duke paused for a moment to better organize his ideas. "The kind of tremor that you can feel as soon as that person walks into the room is a process of intuitive understanding, just like when we meet a specific person. You have a sense of intuition. Yes, they are the right people. When people fall in love, there will be that special feeling. In your body and your inner world always have an ideal type. When you meet someone, and this person somehow matches this ideal type. Choosing a cast is a similar process."

"It's you who discovered Charlize Theron, as we all know," Sarah turned to the heroine. "She always makes some incredible performances in your production, and her most outstanding characters are all in your videos. Why is that?"

"I still remember my first meeting with Sally."

Duke never minded talking nonsense for publicity, "We just met and talked. My first impression was that she was quite smart, had a very quick mind, and contained some uneasy energy. Sally was full of energy, unpredictable, and very interesting. It always reminded me of my experience of working with my kids. You always didn't know what that little guy was going to do next second. It was amazing."

Sarah was very smart and didn't continue digging deeper, but asked, "What are you most afraid of during the shooting?"

"Disaster, unpredictable disaster."

Duke pointed to the raindrops dripping outside the umbrella and said, "For example, climate change, it rains. We built everything, rehearsals started, we fixed the road and did all the rehearsals, and it turned out to be raining."

"We met very early. I've seen all your videos and basically interviewed on your set or premiere." Sarah held up the hot tea on the table. "Except for "Chicago", all your videos can be attributed to the category of action movies. Do you have special feelings for action movies? Also, how do you grasp the action scenes of "Rampage Road" and other movies?"

“For me, action movies are a special, higher-level film art form.”

Any kind of movie has its merits, Duke pondered for a moment and said, "When shooting an action scene, you can't think, 'Oh, then we'll smash a lot of things', you can't treat it that way. You have to try to create very clear syntax instead of just fierce collisions."

Compared to the irrelevant words just now, what Duke said about answering this question is basically true. "This is an era of rapid development. Photography technology is constantly changing with each passing day. Everything had to be shot in real time before, and it was impossible to control images as freely as today."

"I still remember when filming "Life and Death Hour" and "Brave the Deadly Island", we did as much live-action shooting as possible. Today, if we need to, we can shoot a lot of pictures, and then use computer technology to synthesize them easily. Now, when watching videos and action movies from more than ten years ago, we will find that they are slow. Our entire society is getting faster and faster, and I must also speed up the pace of "Rampage Road".

The rainy day not only temporarily suspended the crew, but also took away many reporters and completed an exclusive interview with Duke. The reporters including Sarah left New Mexico one after another.

However, the light rain lasted for more than a day. When the sun hung high again, the blazing sunlight dried the already not-so-wet land in just a short time, and Duke was able to let the crew start filming again.

Perhaps it was because he had accumulated enough energy after taking a day off. After the filming was restarted, the crew made a smooth progress, but Duke still focused on emphasizing a few points, especially for his artistic director Hannah Selena.

He mainly emphasized two points: one is to be as rich as possible to distinguish the dark and monotonous unsaturated colors of other apocalyptic themes; the other is to be as beautiful as possible in artistic guidance, because he believes that in the apocalyptic era where material poverty, survivors will look for everything that can bring some beauty.

"The Rings Trilogy" is like the Lord of the Rings trilogy, giving Hannah Selena full use of the game. She appropriately incorporates the set into a grand and magnificent environmental background, making the whole world a more unified picture. Thousands of miles of yellow sand and thousands of miles of blue sky, blue and yellow form the base color of the set.

This strong contrast effect on the primary colors is echoed and switched, the sky with deep blue filter effect on the continuous sand dunes, the cramped and suppressed earth-colored rock wall fortress, the black ghost staggering in the blue night sky curtain of the dead oasis, with a hint of bloody sandstorm, like a large color block composition that splashes paint buckets and constantly implies the desolation of the wasteland world...

According to Duke's idea, as long as the quality of his films is guaranteed, if Hannah Serena cannot win the Academy's art guidance award after it is released, it can only be said that the Academy's even throws away the minimum fairness. When looking at science fiction and action movies, they are all naked and unconcealed discrimination.

Of course, based on Duke's perception, he would not be surprised that such a thing happened.

Nearly half of the filming was carried out, and one-third of the modified cars were blown into pieces by Jos William's fireworks team. It was undoubtedly quite hard to shoot in the desert and the wasteland. The crew members looked at each other for dozens of days. When the wind was strong, the sand was rippling around was simply a mess.

There are also various animals in the desert. Although the crew has special snake-repelling people, there are times when they cannot take care of them.

I don't know how to get into an Ana Prinz's trailer. Fortunately, it's a non-toxic type. Even so, she doesn't want to live alone, so she simply moves into Tina Phie's trailer.

As for the troubles caused by mosquito bites, it can only be said to be a small problem.

After all, this place is a desert, not a fully equipped Warner Studio. All Duke can do is to complete the shooting as soon as possible and leave this hellish desert.

To be honest, he doesn't like such a climate.

When filming Independence Day and Transformers, Duke had visited the White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico, but the shooting at that time was only a week at most, and the military was also used as logistics support, which is far from comparable to now.

An accident occurred during the following shooting. Duke and John Schwartzman once again installed the IMAX camera on the front of the car to increase the visual impact of the lens. However, the environment in the desert area was too complicated. This modified car with a camera installed had an accident when braked and hit Ferosa's war machine.

Since both modified cars were specially reinforced and were not fast, neither the vehicle nor the actors had any accidents, but the delicate and bulky imax camera was destroyed.

The representative of the IMAX company stationed in the crew was almost crazy about this. There were not all the IMAX cameras in total, and the preciousness of them can be imagined.

The crew must pay compensation, which is an unexpected expense. According to Duke's requirements, two imax cameras must be used to shoot cross-shooting. I can only wait for the imax company to ship the camera to the set in New Mexico as soon as possible.

Filming was paused again. As Christmas approached, Duke simply gave the entire crew a holiday. After the Christmas holiday, the imax camera was also shipped in place, and the crew gathered in New Mexico again. (To be continued.)
