Chapter 1 Weird Rules

My name is Qin Ye, I am 25 years old. A few days ago, I learned that my mother was seriously ill. In order to better take care of my mother, I quit my job in a big city and returned to my hometown in the county.

I originally thought that I could take care of my mother and work at the same time, so I would post job search information on the Internet to nearby occupational units, but it backfired. There were few jobs in the small county, and the job search information without exception disappeared.

My mother's treatment required a lot of medical expenses. Seeing that the burden on my family was getting heavier and heavier, on July 14th, I had to change my strategy and go out on a bicycle to actually search. I had already thought about trying to do any job.

, but couldn’t find it in the end.

Seeing that it was getting dark and I was about to go home dejectedly, I don’t know whether it was a coincidence or whether the sky is the limit, but a recruitment advertisement on a telephone pole on the side of the county town caught my attention.

"The Rose Electronics Factory dormitory is recruiting a night shift security guard. No work experience is required. The minimum salary is 5,000..."

When I saw this for the first time, my eyes lit up. I went, 5,000. Even though it was a night shift, it was considered a pretty good salary in our small county.

The security guard here usually costs about 2,000. I was excited, but I was also afraid that this was a scam. So with the attitude of giving it a try, I called the number above and found the place.

The person in charge of receiving me was a middle-aged man named Zhang Jian, who was a few years older than me. He had a shiny face and a big belly.

Knowing that I was applying for a job, he warmly entertained me. After a few brief greetings, we got down to business.

The working conditions are really like that piece of paper. Just as we were talking, Zhang Jian asked me an inexplicable question, "Are you still single and a virgin?"

Although I know that many workplaces nowadays will make some inexplicable questions to embarrass the applicants, I never expected that such a question would arise. I had to say: "No, I don't have a girlfriend so far. Who would like me?"

Such a poor loser!"

Zhang Jian seemed quite satisfied with my answer, nodded silently, took out some money from his pocket, and said he had given me this month's living expenses in advance.

I was a little hesitant about whether I was trying to trick people, but when I saw this, I had nothing to say. Who is cheating people and not only cheating money, but also giving money to others!

I immediately agreed, and Zhang Jian readily gave me a contract.

I needed a job urgently, so I signed the contract quickly.

As soon as I signed the contract, Zhang Jian changed the topic and started to make some demands.

"By the way, Qin Ye, since you have become a security guard here, there are a few things you must pay attention to.

You are not allowed to be late for work. You start work at six o'clock in the evening and get off work at twelve o'clock. The door closes on time and no one is allowed in."

I'll go. I can understand being on time in the front, but it's a bit harsh in the back. If some factory workers have to come back later, wouldn't they be able to get in?

But I thought that since I had signed the contract, I had to agree to any conditions for this job, so I bit the bullet and said that I would definitely act in accordance with the regulations.

Then he started to arrange work for me. He led me to the factory area. The factory area was very ordinary, but I hardly saw anyone. I asked Zhang Jian, and Zhang Jian said that he was working upstairs or something like that, so I just

Without paying much attention, after passing through a corridor, I saw an old dormitory building.

There is a sign hanging above this dormitory building, "Rose Building!"

The name sounds nice, but it's a bit shabby. The exterior walls are a little black, and it feels like a fire happened. I wonder if the employees are really willing to live here in such a shabby place?

But that was not for me to think about. I was too lazy to think about it and followed Zhang Jian to the dormitory building. Zhang Jian also knew about my situation. He told me that he had arranged a dormitory for me so that I could rest here at night and during the day.

Then I can go back and take care of my mother.

This was quite thoughtful, and I was very happy. I went back that day to tell my mother what had happened and to move my luggage over.

After moving into the dormitory, I planned to go there and take care of my mother during the day, and then come back to work and sleep at night. In this way, the whole day passed.

The shift was handed over at six o'clock in the evening. It was just getting dark and before I got there, Zhang Jian ran to my dormitory out of nowhere and specifically told me to remember those requirements.

I had no choice but to nod my head. I thought about how worried this was about me. Could it be that someone would die if I didn't pay attention?

When I arrived at the shift point, I realized that there was an old man on duty. He didn't speak for a long time. When he saw me, he collected his things and left. I thought about saying hello to him, but he had already disappeared.

I was sitting alone in my seat. In fact, it was just sitting. I thought, why don't I just look after the dormitory? This job is not difficult at all.

Time passed by minute by second, and then people really came back to the factory one after another. Some of them looked weird when they saw me, so I ignored them.

There was an alarm clock in the lobby. Seeing that the time was approaching twelve o'clock, I immediately started to close the door, but halfway through closing it, a woman's voice sounded.

A woman in her 30s was carrying a little girl on her back, "Hello, please open the door!"

I was stunned for a moment, and she fiddled with her ID card to prove it. I looked at it and it was indeed the work permit from Rose Electronics Factory.

"304, Wang Xuemei!"

I had no choice but to open the door again. When the woman saw me opening the door, she brought the little girl in.

"Quick, thank you big brother!" the woman said to the little girl.

The little girl smiled and said, "Thank you, big brother!"

The girl's face was a little green and strange, "Thank you, big brother!"

"Is your daughter okay?" I stared at the woman, who sighed, "She's a little sick!"

"If so, then you have to take her to see a doctor for treatment!"

"Yes, yes, thank you. You are such a kind person. Come on, let me give you this fruit!" The woman got an apple out of nowhere and handed it to me. Before I could react, she took the little girl with her

Just went in.

I was a little impatient, so I looked at the fruit and took a bite, but I spit it out after just one bite. Come on, why does it smell like mold and ash?

I quickly took a look, I went, there was a little red paper on it, it was a tribute, I was really speechless, are you trying to trick me?

Just like that, I closed the door and looked at the time on my phone. It was past twelve o'clock. Then I looked at the alarm clock. It was twelve o'clock...

Out of date? The alarm clock is inaccurate?

No, I have to leave quickly! I fell asleep immediately after returning to the dormitory room. The next day I was woken up by the noise, and I came out to see what was going on before I knew what was going on.

The dormitory was noisy and the police came. I watched and listened to a few employees chatting.

"Hey, have you heard? Someone died last night. The man from 304 hanged himself!"

"Hey, my wife Wang Xuemei and his child died not long ago. He probably couldn't bear the blow!"
