Chapter 15 Summer League
This year the Dallas Mavericks participated in the Rocky Mountain Summer League, which took place from July 18 to July 26. A total of eight teams participated.
These include the Utah Jazz, San Antonio Spurs, Golden State Warriors, Dallas Mavericks, New Jersey Nets, Atlanta Hawks, DBDL (NBA Development League), and the Iranian National Team.
The Dallas Mavericks are led by the team's offensive coach Fernando Solano this year.
It is impossible for big-name stars from such league teams to participate. Participants include:
Sean Williams, Jose Barea, Ryan Hollins, Gerald Green, Brendan Bass, James Singleton, Keith Michael Riod, Dwayne
.Mitchell, Wang Dachun, and two undrafted players.
Among them, Keith, Dwayne, Wang Dachun and the two undrafted players currently have no contracts.
The team specially gathered for training a week in advance in order for the players to better participate in the game. After a week of running-in, today they arrived at the Rocky Mountain Summer League.
After checking into the hotel, let the players take a short rest and gather in the rented basketball hall in the afternoon.
This was the first time for Wang Dachun to stay in such a luxurious hotel. He originally thought that he might stay in the cheapest hotel like he used to do during football team training camps, with two or three people sharing a room. Unexpectedly, it turned out to be a luxurious single room.
Green told him that this is a very common thing. The team will not stay in a hotel when playing home games. If it is an away game, they will stay in more luxurious hotels.
After these few days of training, Wang Dachun is more confident in himself than before. He found that the gap between himself and NBA centers is not particularly big. If he works hard to catch up, he may reach NBA standards.
In another room in the hotel, Solano was very unsure about using Wang Dachun and was having a headache about the current team's starting lineup.
Although the summer league is just an ordinary game for the team to observe players and is not included in the regular NBA league. But this year is his first independent team and he naturally wants to achieve good results.
But in terms of starting, what currently gives him a headache is the center issue.
There are only two centers on the team this year, one is Ryan Hollins and the other is Wang Dachun.
Hollins can be said to be better. After all, he has played in the NBA for several years and has game experience. Although he has never had playing time and his ability is average, he can barely use it.
But he really didn't understand what the hell this Wang Dachun was. Through observation over the past few days, Wang Dachun's physical talent could be seen with the naked eye. But his skills were so rough that he couldn't even compare with a primary school student.
He took out a piece of paper and wanted to list Wang Dachun's advantages.
Back? No...
Footsteps? This guy would be fine if he didn't walk.
Split? He seems to have just understood what split means. The quality of doing it is terrible.
Stuck? I just barely learned it in these two days.
Free throws? Oh my god, that's a shit shooting percentage. O'Neal can be his ancestor.
What drove Solano the most crazy was that he couldn't even eat cake under the basket. During training, the basket was open and the basketball was passed to Wang Dachun. He didn't know what to do and passed the ball out again. He was so angry.
Rano really has nothing to say. I really don’t know what the use of his long arms is.
CIC?
Three points?
Hook?
Haha. These seem to be very distant things.
Although Solano, at this time, he had already devalued Wang Dachun as worthless in his heart, even like a smelly piece of shit. He remembered the first scene when he saw Wang Dachun. The one who was shooting a basketball and the ball ran away but he didn't.
Looks like. I really feel like a loser. I feel like the team can choose a point guard who is more threatening than him at the basket.
But then again, this guy's physical condition is indeed very good. The combination of his sensitivity to rebounding and his own condition is really terrifying.
During training, he and Hollins competed for rebounds. Hollins was not at a disadvantage against Wang Dachun in terms of height, and with many years of basketball experience, he was well positioned against a rookie.
But you will see that when Hollins tried his best to block Wang Dachun's position, Wang Dachun always took the basketball away when the two took off. It seemed that blocking the position was of no use at all.
There is also his ability to block shots and assist defense. You can imagine that a person under the basket can grab the basket by standing on tiptoes. In addition, he has super fast bounce speed and excellent jumping ability. It is because of these that he
It is indeed worth this second-round pick, or even the late first-round pick.
However, due to his lack of experience in the game, Wang Dachun can easily be shaken. A fake move or a random change of direction can pass him or be knocked away.
The weapons he can currently use are rebounding and finishing balls, which are barely usable for defense.
So he thought about it for a long time before he figured out who should start the league this time.
Wang Dachun actually feels that he has had a fulfilling life these days. Not only has he made new friends, but the coach seems to value him very much and often shouts to him from the sidelines. This is the kind of treatment he could only enjoy in the football team before.
When playing football, whenever he conceded a goal on the training ground, the coach would often scold Wang Dachun with the same vigor as digging up his family's graves.
He feels that the current basketball coaches are the same. Whenever he is passed by someone or jumps around, the coach will always criticize him loudly. He feels that the coach still takes him seriously.
He didn't hear that Solano was Mexican, and his rant against Wang Dachun was mostly a Mexican national curse. Although he didn't mean to insult anyone, his anger could be seen.
In the team these days, the relationship with Jose Barea and Gerald Green is going very well. It may be that there is no competition for positions between these two players.
Just after checking into the hotel, Green invited Wang Dachun to come to his room to play games after he returned from training in the afternoon. Wang Dachun asked Barea and Bass to come too.
Gree asked doubtfully:
"It's okay to call Barea over, but call Bass? Didn't you realize that he has always had a bad attitude towards you since you joined the team? Why do you still invite him?"
"Aren't we all teammates, and our rooms are close to each other!"
When they checked into the hotel and were assigned rooms, the four of them happened to be on the first floor.
"I also want to ask why, he seems to have a problem with me? I took the initiative to say hello to her several times but he ignored me!
"Don't worry about that guy! He seems to have objections to people who are taller than him? I guess it may be because although he is an inside player, he suffers from his height. He is often eaten by people who are taller than him, right? So, right?
He doesn't look down on big guys. But he doesn't have the guts to deal with team bosses, and he's very attentive."
