Chapter 47 Exchange

Author: Bo Mi

Zhao Hui spent a whole afternoon planting the sweet potato seedlings and watering them all thoroughly. Then he looked at the sweet potato seedlings with burning eyes, as if he saw a lot of food placed in front of him.

But as he looked at it, he felt that there seemed to be a few sweet potato seedlings. If he could plant more sweet potatoes, wouldn't he be able to harvest more sweet potatoes in the fall, and he would no longer be short of food?

With Zhao Hui thinking like this, he wanted to go to the little girl's house again to ask for some sweet potato vines, but he didn't know if they would still give them to him.

But he wants to give it a try. If someone is willing to give it to him, he will naturally be grateful. If they are not willing to give it, he will never force it.

He has been wandering around since the drought in spring. He knows the situation here almost clearly. If someone is willing to give him some food and sweet potato vines, that is his benefactor.

Feeling resentful.

He had heard of the term "repaying kindness" before.

So, when Shen Yuxiu opened the courtyard door early the next morning, he was suddenly startled by Zhao Hui squatting at the door of his house.

Zhao Huitian came here at dawn, and not long after he arrived, when he saw the little girl from yesterday coming to open the door, he immediately bared his teeth in a smile and handed a handful of wild vegetables in front of her.

"Can I exchange these wild vegetables for some sweet potato seedlings?" Zhao Hui said in a low voice, feeling a little guilty.

Yesterday, he finally found these by the river after planting sweet potato vines. He was not willing to eat any of them. He washed them cleanly in the river and brought them over. He thought it would be better to exchange the wild vegetables for sweet potato vines than nothing at all.

Isn't it better to ask someone directly?

Shen Yuxiu looked at the few wild vegetables in his hand in surprise and blinked. Just as she was about to say something, she heard Fang Youshun ask her: "Who is it?"

"Ah? It's the little brother I met yesterday." Shen Yuxiu turned back to Fang Youshun who stopped sweeping the floor in the yard and looked this way. She also turned back to Zhao Hui and said, "Come with me."

After saying that, Shen Yuxiu turned back and walked towards the yard. She came to Fang Youshun who was still holding a broom and talked about what happened yesterday, and then said what Zhao Hui had just said.

When Fang Youshun heard that he was here to ask for sweet potato vines, he immediately became interested.

To be honest, when he met people who came to his door, he would always pinch a handful of sweet potato seedlings, but not many people actually expressed interest in the sweet potato seedlings, let alone come to ask for more.

"Do you still want sweet potato seedlings? How many do you want? Just grow it at your home, or should you also give it to others?" Fang Youshun looked at the boy in front of him, who was obviously a few years older than Shen Yuxiu, and asked kindly.

Zhao Hui hadn't been spoken to in such a good manner for a long time. He stuttered for a moment, then smiled stiffly and replied: "I am the one who grows, and there is no one else."

"You do?" Fang Youshun looked him up and down in surprise: "Can you do it?"

"Yesterday this sister told me how to plant." Zhao Hui was afraid that he wouldn't believe it, so he quickly pointed to Shen Yuxiu, who was still standing aside, and assured him: "I planted everything I brought back yesterday into the ground.

If you don't believe it, I can take you to see it.

"Yes, I told him yesterday how to plant. I remember everything grandpa said." Shen Yuxiu nodded, indicating that this man was not lying.

Sometimes she would watch her grandpa planting sweet potato seedlings, and she generally remembered a lot of them.

"What's the use of just remembering that?" Fang Youshun said with a smile, and then led Zhao Hui towards the ridge where sweet potatoes were planted in the yard, while bending down to pinch the long sweet potato vines neatly.

In the next paragraph, I told him in detail the precautions for planting.

Fang Youshun did not suspect that Zhao Hui was lying. After all, the child looked eleven or twelve years old and did not seem to be ignorant. What's more, he could say that he was taking him to see the sweet potato seedlings he planted, so he must be sincere.

If so, then there is nothing he can’t teach.

Zhao Hui didn't say anything, and just quietly observed how Fang Youshun pinched the sweet potato vines, while seriously jotting down these precautions in his mind.

Seeing that she had nothing to do here, Shen Yuxiu turned back and walked towards the house.

Shen Yulin was washing his face in the room. When he saw her coming in and asking what was going on, Shen Yuxiu told him what happened yesterday morning, which made Shen Yulin feel guilty.

Fortunately, grandma and grandpa didn't know that he left early yesterday. Shen Yuxiu was the boy he met alone. If they knew this, they would definitely be punished again.

In the yard, Fang Youshun spoke carefully, and Zhao Hui listened attentively. By the time Fang Youshun had cut off all the vines that could be pinched in the yard, there was already a large bundle.

"I don't know how much private land your family has, but it is enough to plant a few ridges. If you take care of it, you should be able to harvest a lot of sweet potatoes in the fall." Fang Youshun took a straw rope and tied it up for him, while he kept doing it.

Said.

After Zhao Hui heard what he said, his lips were filled with a smile that even Ren couldn't help but he immediately knelt on the ground and kowtowed to him: "Thank you, grandpa, for teaching me this."

His parents had never taught him these farming knowledge, so Fang Youshun took the trouble to tell him this, and he was very grateful.

"Hey, what are you doing?" Fang Youshun pulled him up. He happened to see Grandma Fang starting to set the meal, so he asked him: "Have you eaten?"

Of course, Zhao Hui also saw the meal being served over there, and subconsciously quickly looked away, lowered his head and whispered, "I, I'm not hungry."

"There's no one who's not hungry. Come here and wash your hands and have something to eat together. I don't have anything delicious at home, just sticky porridge and steamed buns. If you don't mind, that's fine." Fang Youshun said and pulled him to wash his hands together.

He also saw that this child had a sense of shame and knew how to be self-reliant. He was very willing to help this child.

How could Zhao Hui dislike it? He hadn't eaten anything since yesterday after eating what the little girl gave him, even the few wild vegetables he finally found because he was wondering if he could exchange it for some sweet potatoes.

He didn't dare to eat the rice. His stomach had already started to ache.

But even so, when he followed Fang Youshun to the table, he didn't dare to gobble it up. He just kept the porridge bowl in front of him and the steamed bun in his hand and ate quietly, for fear of making some noise and making people feel disgusted.

Grandma Fang felt a little uncomfortable when she saw him like this, so she gave him a chopstick to pickle pickles and told him: "Don't just drink porridge and steamed buns, but also eat some pickles. If you don't eat pickles, how can you have any strength?"

Zhao Hui looked at the sudden extra pickles in the bowl, his eyes couldn't help but heat up, and he quickly whispered his thanks: "Thank you, grandma."

Ever since he could remember, his parents had not cared much about whether he had eaten enough. Especially in the past two years, he would often look for food by himself when he was very hungry. At the dinner table, everyone in the family had always eaten.

Yes, sometimes his brother would snatch his share directly in order to have an extra bite. This was the first time in his life that he was being cared for like this.

Zhao Hui felt as if something was blocked in his heart, and he had an unspeakable feeling in his heart. This made him want to cry, but he was afraid of being laughed at, so he could only lower his head further.

Lower.

When Grandma Fang saw him like this, she thought he was embarrassed to eat because of her, so she didn't say anything and just started eating her own meal.

Shen Yulin looked at Zhao Hui, whose head was almost hanging under the table, and clicked his tongue twice speechlessly.

How can you eat like this? Don’t put it in your nose, right?

Shen Yuxiu had no idea about this, and she didn't even look at Zhao Hui a few times while eating.

In her opinion, this is a stranger who has nothing to do with her and there is no need to pay special attention to him.

However, she didn't know that this person would add a lot of color to her life in the future and almost kill her.
