1. Chapter 1 Stubborn Stone

Wang Jie jumped off the school bus and kicked a stone on the road in front of him boredly. Another day was over. He walked home slowly with his schoolbag on his back.

Wang Jie came to the United States three years ago with his uncle. In the late 1980s, he resolutely gave up everything and went to the United States. He started working hard from scratch and gained a foothold. After he went home to visit his relatives during the Chinese New Year. He saw Wang Jie who was reading quietly alone, so his uncle said to his only sister: "I think Xiaojie is a child, so why not give it to me and take it out for a look." So Wang Jie started his overseas student career in 1993.

Now the family lives in an apartment in Santa Monica, Los Angeles. They rely on their uncles and aunts to open a Chinese restaurant together. There is a restaurant downstairs and people live upstairs. In order to choose this place with relatively better public security and higher passenger flow, my uncle looked at the brochure brought by the real estate agent and studied it for a long time before he decided.

There was a riot in downtown Los Angeles a few years ago, so it was not peaceful. So even though the funds were not rich, I chose this place close to Olympic Street. Among the first factors that my uncle and aunt considered, the public schools here were barely chaotic. Although the rent and taxes of the house were higher, I could still tolerate it.

My uncle and aunt have a son who is just five years old this year and is less than the age of school. However, he is still obedient and stays in a restaurant every day to play. Wang Jie's overseas study has not seen any stories in daily life. My uncle and aunt are very simple and responsible people, and life goes by like this.

Every afternoon, after school, Wang Jie could not learn from other students to participate in the "after-school activities" of various club study classes, but hurried back home to help. The restaurant is always very busy at night, and in order to save expenses, the shop is only busy with uncle and aunt. It is okay during the day, but dinner is always the busiest.

Although the location here is not those expensive and expensive communities, there are not many "high-risk" people such as blacks and South Americans, and Chinese account for 30%, and public security is also a good idea.

The customer positioning of this restaurant is mainly based on nearby residents, supplemented by a small number of tourists. In general, it can close and rest before 8 o'clock every night. With its authentic craftsmanship, nearby residents always come to buy a meal when they go home and don't have time to cook or need extra meals. Of course, they sell improved "American Chinese food".

After finishing the restaurant business, he talked to his uncle about school affairs and started to study. He is already in the ninth grade this year and the summer vacation is about to be around. It is time to start preparing for the Sat exam. As a Chinese, many people say that if you can't get a A, you will fail. In his opinion, this is obviously a two-item view. Sat is just a reference for applying for a university. It is not an example of "high-end students" nerds who have A who have been rejected by universities. Various gorgeous, rich, so-called extracurricular activities and activities that increase the hit rate of the application exam are often spent on money. The middle class relies on this system to ensure that their descendants are always at the wave of high education.

That's off-topic.

After completing a so-called short paper that I don’t know what to say about writing your favorite historical figure and describing his/her contributions, I completed the preview of what I should do, and there are still two months of exams. Recently, he always learned this until 12 o’clock. During this period, my aunt only used a small amount of milk as a supplement for the midnight snack and had already rested. After all, I would have to get up very early tomorrow to go to the vegetable market to purchase goods.

If the biggest change in lifestyle habits after coming to the United States is that after studying every night, he is used to taking a bath before going to bed. The bathroom at home is very convenient, and he usually goes to bed directly after taking a shower.

Looking at the mirror in the bathroom, Wang Jie sorted out his hair. He was 15 years old this year. He was tall and shaped. His eyes were big, dark black, his eyebrows were neither thick nor thin, and his face was the face of an ordinary person, but these eyes were quite impressive.

He picked up the toothpaste and toothbrush and started brushing his teeth. The mirror was a little dirty. He rubbed it with his hand, but it turned the mirror in a crooked way. After brushing his teeth, he took off the mirror first, wiped it, and then prepared to hang it again, but a hole was found on the original wall behind the mirror, which was the space left after a brick was dug up.

The house was rented for only a few years, and it has not been renovated after renting it. After buying necessary furniture, he started living. Wang Jie remembered that the mirror was already hanging here before renting the house. He was curious and looked at it. There was a small iron box inside. He took out the iron box and hung it up. A lot of dust accumulated on the box. After wiping a piece of toilet paper, he wiped the water on his body. He returned to the bedroom and checked it carefully.

This is a very exquisite iron box, the size of a palm, it is very comfortable to hold in the hand, with various complex patterns on it, which he cannot describe. Under the desk lamp, the black iron box is very beautiful. This may have been forgotten by the tenant from the previous house. Wang Jie carefully opened the box, and the things inside were preserved well. A piece of letter paper and a piece of jade were tied with a thin cloth thread. The thing was not big, so it could be held tightly in the palm of his hand. He looked at it and touched the very round stone. The white texture was very crystal clear. There were four small characters engraved on it, Chinese characters, spiritual jade, and traditional Chinese.

I have been in the United States for three years since I was a child, but Wang Jie has loved reading all kinds of books since he was a child, and he reads well. I know that this was worn by Jia Baoyu in Dream of the Red Chamber. It seems that there is a TV series, which is filmed by Dream of the Red Chamber.

Being arty, I carved the words "Tongling Baoyu" and thought I was Jia Baoyu? He shook his head. Regarding Dream of Red Mansions, his understanding is that Jia Baoyu had a love story with a large group of beautiful girls in the big garden every day. However, he also knew that gold was priceless. Although this piece of jade had no carved patterns, it looked very beautiful and comfortable to hold in his hands. He even felt a sense of a cool air, not the kind of cold that was frozen, but refreshing and cool, which made people feel comfortable and cool, and spread throughout his body through his hands.

So comfortable, he opened the folded square paper. The handwriting was as he thought, in Chinese and traditional Chinese characters, "I accidentally got Baoyu, stepped into a magical place, and broke through the realm, and I won this treasure to wait for my fate. I have the word "Li Zhenfan," said California."

Who is Li Zhenfan in California? Why is this name so familiar? A piece of jade with Chinese characteristics engraved with the word "Spiritual Jade" comes from the hands of Chinese people. The surname Li itself is a surname with a large number of people, which doesn't mean anything. Wang Jie put the note and jade on the bedside table, turned off the light, and went to bed.

In his sleep, Wang Jie dreamed that he came out of his home and walked on the street. A big man rushed towards him, first shot at him, Wang Jie lowered his head and dodged, dodged, and then took out a pistol and fired back.

With every shot, he could hit the big man, but the big man seemed to be unconscious and began to walk towards him step by step. As he continued to hit, the big man showed his true face, the terminator played by Schwarzenegger, revealing his metal bones and glowing eyes.

The gun could no longer stop the Terminator. Wang Jie threw all kinds of things he could catch with, and the more he threw them, he became more and more nervous, gasping, but it was useless. Finally, he grabbed the "Psychological Jade" and threw it over.

The "Terminator" immediately caught the "Spiritual Jade", grabbed it in his hand, and suddenly laughed at Wang Jie, revealing his steel-wreathed teeth, as if he was mocking. After a moment, the "Terminator" suddenly melted into powder and fell still, and the "Spiritual Jade" also turned into powder together.

Wang Jie felt unspeakable in his chest, so he raised his body, shouted "Ah," and woke up, right on the bed in the bedroom.

It was a dream, I must have watched too many movies. Wang Jie laughed at himself. It was already dawn and his bedroom faced the sea. The sun was already very strong. Looking at the "Psychological Jade" on the bedside table, he reached out and held it in his hand and said, "Fate is destined to be the sky, my subconscious mind feels that it cannot be separated from you."
