Chapter 007 Misunderstandings leading to the truth

Junsha used the walkie-talkie to contact her subordinates and notified them to follow-up investigation of handing over the trash can here.

Meanwhile, the detective began to elaborate on his reasoning.

"You have these two cognitive misunderstandings about this case."

Hugo seemed to be in a good mood. While throwing the empty gasoline bottle in his hand as an important evidence, he talked to the police officer... Such dangerous behavior made Junsha's eyelids twitch.

"First of all, the deceased at the exit of the sewer was undoubtedly murdered. From the other party prepared the gasoline for burning the body in advance, we can see that the prisoner had expected the death of the victim. As for gasoline, there was actually a faint smell of gasoline on the body at the scene. The combustion caused by the Pokémon moves generally did not have a odor. The only explanation for this is that the trainer brought gasoline as fuel himself."

Junsha then remembered the scene when Hugo was lying on the ground and faced with the deceased. It turned out to confirm the odor on the burnt corpse.

"But why do you think the deceased did not die in the Pokémon battle? The trainer died in the battle accident, and then the opponent bought gasoline to destroy the corpse. Other moves of stir-frying pigs, such as "push", "slamming", "malicious pursuit" or "double-edged head hammer", may also be the cause of death of the murdered gangster."

"This involves a key issue, and it is also the second misunderstanding of thinking that you have stepped into - why did the murderer burn the body?"

"We initially thought it was an accident in the battle that caused the stir-fried pig to go wild..." Junsha recalled, "But this inference has been overturned by new evidence. Burning the corpse was actually the work of the escape trainer... Did he prepare gasoline in order to eliminate the traces left by himself and extend the escape time?"

"There is a contradiction in this explanation," Hugo said. "If the murderer wanted to hide himself by eliminating the information on the deceased, he would not use fire to burn the body, because it would directly lead the police's attention to those who possess the fire-type Pokémon. It is very unwise for the trainer who fryed pigs."

The detective pointed his hand in the direction of the crime scene: "The burning corpse is at the entrance of the sewer. If the murderer really wants to disrupt the search, he can throw the body injured and dead due to Pokémon battle into the sewer that is invisible. In this way, when the body is discovered and salvaged, the police will face a corpse with unknown time of death, and the cause of death is an attack that any Pokémon can use. In this case, the image of the murderer will be even more difficult to confirm."

"There is such a contradiction in front of us - why did the murderer act to burn the corpse and hide himself while exposing himself to hold a fire-type Pokémon?" Hugo raised the gasoline bottle and asked a question.

"Is this the prisoner's negligence? He might simply think that burning the body is beneficial to him, and never thought about these complicated reasons?" Junsha asked casually.

"Good guess. There are stupidity and accidents in any crime." The detective shook his head after complimenting, "but this stupidity is unlikely to happen in the preparation stage of the crime."

Hugo finally put away the gasoline bottle, spread his hands, and explained it like a criminology lecturer in the police school:

"In most murder cases, the criminal has only two ultimate goals - crime and escape from crime. The former is the collapse of reason. The murderer loses something that supports human nature and commits a serious crime of murder under the motive's intent. The latter is the return of reason. The murderer hopes to escape the crime and returns to daily life with a civilized skin.

"If a murderer begins to plan to escape while conceiving how to commit a crime, it means that he is planning the murder in a relatively rational state. Therefore, in deliberate murder cases, at least in the preparation stage of the crime, all actions of the criminal have specific purposes and reasons."

"So his real purpose?" Junsha looked forward to the detective's answer.

"Reconstruct the scene! The murderer completely disrupted all the evidence left by the crime scene, thereby misleading the police's investigation."

The detective's tone was extremely certain.

"Please recall the phone calls you received. Anonymous calls, which happened to be witnessed by watching remotely, but can accurately determine the elves and identities of both sides of the battle. Instead of using a mobile phone, you can call the police with a public emergency phone that has almost disappeared in this era... These strange factors combined, do you really think this is a simple call for alarm?"

Junsha exclaimed: "What do you mean is that the call call was actually called by the murderer himself?"

"This is obvious." The detective nodded.

"A kind-hearted passerby who is simply unrelated to the case will never be able to call the police in that way. At the crime scene at that time, the only murderer was able to make the call."

Regardless of Junsha's surprised expression, Hugo continued to express his opinions—

"Your previous understanding of the case was entirely based on the lies of the real murderer. Therefore, now, the identity of the deceased, the Pokémon he held, and the situation at the scene, these information should now be overturned and reasoned based on unquestionable evidence."

"When it comes to unquestionable evidence, what we have discovered is an unknown charred corpse, with traces of battle at the scene, empty gasoline bottles, and elf balls containing unconscious fried pigs..." The police officer thought hard, "By the way, there is also the cool leopard who was sent to the hospital!"

"Don't forget, there is also the call call from the murderer himself. The lies also contain the truth." Hugo reminded.

"Um..." Junsha took out the notebook she carried with her from her police suit pocket and began to draw a schematic diagram like a heavenly book.

The police officer used a pen to hold a black stickman and said hesitantly—

"From the situation of the corpse, it can be seen that the murderer prepared gasoline in advance and burned the body after the victim died. But this is not to delay his own escape, but to disguise the scene as a battle accident... By the way, Hugo, do you think the murderer has a second purpose, such as to hide the true identity of the deceased? I had already explained the identity of both parties on the call call and determined that the deceased was a gangster, and had not yet thought about this direction."

"Very good, you have completely gone out of your misunderstanding. If you can do this, the police officer can already be competent for the position in the criminal department." Hugo praised from the bottom of his heart.

"What a pity, you are not the director of the police station, otherwise I will be transferred to the criminal department where I work overtime the most serious."

Junsha perfunctorily put aside the detective's approval and made a big circle on the "identity of the deceased" marked next to the stickman.

"And since you already know everything, don't keep it here, please give me an answer! I'm not asking you, a detective, to come over to teach me."

Hugo scratched his black hair awkwardly: "My reasoning is still one step away. Although I can talk about some slanderous words about detective industry such as techniques, motives and tricks in a long way, it is not very helpful for arresting prisoners. Now it means that it is a waste of time. If Miss Junsha can summarize some of the situation on the scene, it may give me some inspiration."

The police officer's face looked like "What kind of waste did I invite to come."

"The second clue, the battle traces at the scene, except for the burning places where the corpse is burned, there are still several burning traces of flames. We can assume that this is caused by the action of stir-frying pigs. The claw marks that also appear must be caused by the cool leopard, because before the cool leopard was sent away, we checked its nails, which contained soil on the ground, and there were also flame scars on its outer skin..."

"The inspection of the scene has been done well, and the two elves have undoubtedly fought against each other." Hugo nodded.

"You have already mentioned this. Its existence shows that the murderer had long thoughts of killing people and burning corpses, so we won't discuss it again... Then the fourth item is the fried pig in the trash can. Why is it thrown into the trash can by the murderer in a coma? It is the murderer himself who is obviously holding the murderous intention, so why does he abandon his accomplice?"

Just as the fourth clue came, Junsha's reasoning was already at a deadlock.

"It must be that the murderer has to abandon it. Moreover, the existence of this elf ball also distracts the attention. You almost missed the gasoline bottle just now, right?" the detective interjected.

Junsha was speechless for a moment and wrote down the entry "Must have to throw it away" in her notebook.

"Then there is the coma cool leopard. According to the murderer, this cool leopard belongs to the gangster. However, all the information on the phone is unreliable now. We can only think that the cool leopard belongs to the murderer or the deceased."

"A pretty secure inference." The detective nodded.

"Now there is only the police call left in the clues. What information does this phone full of lies contain? Does the real murderer hope that the police will arrive at the scene of the crime as soon as possible?"

"Correct!" The detective snapped his fingers: "I deserve to be the future chief of the criminal section."

"Don't promote me in my fantasy!"

"Your notebook has recorded all the information needed to solve this case. Next, just connect all the clues and we can find the truth of the case..."

When Hugo said this, he felt as if he had thought of something and his tone was paused.

The clues are complete.

"What's wrong?" Junsha, who was thinking about notes, looked up and asked.

Why was the body burned? Why did the murderer call the police? What does the abandoned elves represent? Suddenly, the detective discovered that the truth was placed in front of him openly.

Although the murderer's actions were chaotic and contradictory, if this explanation is based on this...

"I think of the place where the murderer is most likely to go now!"

The murderer was on the run, so Hugo did not explain the reasoning in detail, but announced the conclusion directly.

"He didn't hide! He had to go to that place! Hurry up, go to the elf center of the cool leopard!"
