Chapter 7 I'm staying with daddy

When she gets bored looking at the stalls, she practices calligraphy by herself.

Occasionally, acquaintances would ask her to write letters. The small regular script she wrote was very beautiful, as if the words jumped out of the book, which was very pleasing to the eye.

It just so happened that when she was writing a letter to an acquaintance, the bookstore owner who passed by saw her handwriting. He admired it and asked her if she needed to pick up the books from the bookstore and copy them?

She actually liked it very much. She could practice calligraphy and make money at the same time. Just when she was about to agree, her father came back.

"The child is still young, and the writing style is still a bit immature. I probably need a few more years of practice."

The bookstore owner knew that this was a polite refusal and was not angry. He just left the bookstore address and left with a smile.

She looked at her father puzzled, but did not ask.

Liang Changhe knew what she was thinking, so he touched her head and explained: "Although daddy can't give you a rich life now, with daddy here, you don't have to worry about family affairs."

Today, these words still ring in her ears, but they make Awen feel that things are impermanent.

Not just the father, but also the original owner.

Dad is naturally a good role model. Whether she or her brother, he treats her equally. Even the other sisters in the family, he tries his best to treat them equally.

In their generation, with the title of scholar, dad, they can get respect from others, whether in the village or elsewhere. That means they can make better choices when it comes to marriage, which is an honor.

But now, my father’s leg has been broken and he needs a lot of money to look after his leg. Will grandpa and the others be willing to support the money to look after his leg?

Will my brother still go to the academy to study without any distractions?

Awen held a pen and sat on her stool, looking at the pile of manuscripts on the desk in a daze.

For the first time, she thought about what else she could do besides copying books. Even if she went into the mountains, someone would have to take her with her. She was too young and her parents would definitely not let her.

"Ahem, cough, cough." The sound of coughing woke up Awen, who was in a daze. She raised her eyes and looked in the direction of the cough, where was her parents' room.

She stood up immediately, ran over at a trot, and stood at the door looking at her mother patting her father on the back, who was still coughing violently.

She quickly went up and stood next to her mother with water.

After her father's cough subsided, her mother took the cup from her hand and fed her father some water.

Liang Changhe drank several sips, then came over and shook his head towards Zhu, who then put the cup in Awen's hand.

Seeing her father like this, Awen felt sad.

Liang Changhe was supported by Mrs. Zhu and leaned against the bedside. He looked at Awen lovingly and said in a weak but clear voice: "Awen, daddy is fine."

When Zhu heard this, she began to wipe her tears again, but retorted: "It must have hurt your spleen and stomach, otherwise why would you still cough up blood?"

Only then did Awen see a pool of blood at her mother's feet.

"I'll go find Grandpa Chen to have a look."

Mrs. Zhu quickly pulled her, looked at her with tearful eyes, and explained: "Awen, the medicine prescribed by Dr. Chen is to treat internal injuries. He only prescribed patch medicine for leg injuries."

As he spoke, he also lifted up Liang Changhe's trousers to show Awen herself.

"But..."

Liang Changhe looked at her and smiled: "Do you want to ask dad why he vomited blood? That's congestion, just spit it out and it will be fine."

Awen looked at her mother Zhu, who also nodded: "Doctor Chen said the same thing, just spit it out."

Awen stopped talking because her parents didn't want her to worry too much.

"It's time to eat."

The auntie shouted in the courtyard, and then Awen realized that the sun had set.

"Mom is going to eat first and bring it to daddy by the way. Awen is here to accompany daddy."
