Chapter 26 The Knicks are full of big brothers

On August 1st, Li You also flew to Atlanta with his friends. The 26th Summer Olympics is coming to an end, and it will be too late if you don't join in the fun!

The most eye-catching event of the day was the track and field competition. Li You was also there to witness Michael Johnson win the men's 400m championship in 43.49 seconds.

After a day of hard work, everyone's excitement has been relieved. Except for the big man Knight who still makes his home in Los Angeles, everyone from the Connecticut basketball team is here today.

After returning to the hotel in the evening, everyone yelled at profiteers and disrespectful people. During the Summer Olympics, the price of accommodation had increased a lot.

Ray Allen has always been in a low mood. Playing in Milwaukee, he always felt that his future was bleak.

"It's not bad to play for the Bucks. They're in the same Central District as the Bulls, and you'll have more opportunities to meet your idols!"

Li You joked about the frowning Ray Allen, who had been clamoring to play against Michael Jordan in the past. This time his dream has come true. In the Central Zone, the Bucks and Bulls have many opportunities to play against each other.

Ray Allen sighed helplessly. His life plan was disrupted the moment he was selected:

"This is the only good news. But if I play for the Bucks, I should be able to get a starting position. I won't be short of playing time, but I won't have too many shots."

"Have you met your Knicks teammates? I always feel like they are not easy to get along with."

Li You feels that the atmosphere in the Knicks' locker room is destined to not be very good. To put it simply, there are big brothers everywhere.

"This is the offseason, and the veterans are not interested in greeting the rookies, but John is a nice guy and the apartment he helped me find in Manhattan is very good."

Ray Allen didn't like the Knicks' style of play at all. When he was in school, he went to New York to watch games, mostly to watch away teams.

The Knicks often have a poor offense. They use "iron-blooded" defense to bring their opponents to the same level as themselves, and then rely on their rich experience to win:

"I hope our rookie season goes well, and I think the Bulls can still win the championship in the new season!"

Li You saw that Ray Allen was turning into a crazy fan again, so he quickly changed the topic:

"After watching the closing ceremony, you can come to New York for a few days. Life in Milwaukee is really boring!"

"."

On August 3, at the Centennial Olympic Stadium in Atlanta, the "Dream Team Three" easily defeated the Yugoslavia national team 95:69 and won the men's basketball gold medal.

Except for Ewing, all the "four major centers" participated in this Olympics, and Li You was also there to witness the dominance of the "Dream Team".

The Chinese men's basketball team also achieved eighth place in this Olympic Games, and its performance was equally impressive!

1996 was also the 100th anniversary of the birth of the modern Olympic Games. After enjoying the closing ceremony on August 4, everyone did not stay too long in Atlanta and flew back to New York early.

After the Olympics, the free market has become lively again. Charles Barkley of the Suns has been involved in trade rumors recently, but Phoenix fans do not believe that Barkley will leave the team.

On August 19, a blockbuster transaction appeared again:

The Houston Rockets traded Chucky Brown, Mark Bryant, Sam Cassell and Robert Horry to the Phoenix Suns;

In exchange for Charles Barkley and a 1999 second-round draft pick.

33-year-old Charles Barkley, 33-year-old Hakeem Olajuwon, and 34-year-old Clyde Drexler form the elderly Big Three of the Houston Rockets!

Although he is a bit older, many sports media spoke highly of this deal, and the New York media also had a lemon:

"The Knicks' current offseason reinforcements give us no hope of winning the championship!"

A new round of crusade against Ewing and John Starks once again swept New York. Fans and media began to miss the Knicks team in the 1970s that won the championship and had a gorgeous offense.

In addition to spending money to subscribe to the Wall Street Journal, Li You also buys a copy of the New York Post every day.

The New York media, Cha Lemon, followed the trend and hyped up the Houston Rockets' three aging players, which has become a source of happiness for Li You at the end of August.

After training step by step and being teammates with Ray Allen for two years, what Li You learned is to act according to the plan.

Everything can be detailed. Li You doesn't have obsessive-compulsive disorder like Ray Allen, and he can relax occasionally.

Even if there is no game, [Ray Allen's excellent explosive power] has completely turned green, and the hard work has paid off.

On September 4, the Knicks signed veteran Buck Williams to add some new talent. However, the deal was belittled by the New York media.

The veteran has already been labeled as a stretcher before he even played a game for the Knicks.

Since there are still preseason games to be played in early October, the Knicks also started training camp early.

Li You stayed in Manhattan for more than two months, and the only teammates he met were John Starks and Alan Houston, who had just joined the team.

The former is his neighbor, and the latter was met at the New York Athletic Club.

Alan Houston is a nice person and a devout Christian. He left a good impression on Li You and the two even trained together for a week.

On the morning of the 10th, John Starks, who had returned from vacation, circled around Li You's car in the parking lot of his apartment.

"You actually drive such an old-fashioned car and spend it when you make money! A new Chevrolet sports car costs less than $40,000."

Li You pouted, that's 40,000 US dollars! It's enough for a normal family to live a prosperous life for a year!

“A classic model from 1982, it’s hard to find a red Chevrolet Monte Carlo in such good condition on the market!”

This car was bought by Li You when he was studying at the University of Connecticut. It was a top-of-the-line car at the time, and its configuration is still up to date.

Sitting in the car, Starks looked at the neat interior and sniffed the air inside the car twice more:

"It doesn't smell like leaves, so it's not bad. It's best for young people not to smoke those things!"

"I just want to introduce you to the rules of the locker room. Rookies must serve the veterans!"

When Li You, who was driving, heard this, he immediately smiled and asked:

"Didn't you tell me that the Knicks are very united and have a harmonious internal atmosphere?"

Pressing down the car window and looking at the street scene outside the window, Starks, who was leaning on his chin, seemed to have forgotten what he had said before and smiled:

"The team was really united before, but you know, the new Larry Johnson must be a difficult person to get along with!"

"Grandmama didn't have a good relationship with his teammates in the Hornets. When he comes to New York and his status drops, don't expect him to look good."

"Charles Oakley and Patrick Ewing are both old-school. New players have to serve these two, and daily errands are inevitable."

"The most important thing is that I am also a 31-year-old veteran, and it is time to enjoy the treatment of a veteran. Li, you are the youngest in the team, you know some rules!"

While driving, Li You turned around and put on a smile, but cursed secretly in his heart:

"The results are not good, there are big brothers everywhere!"
