Chapter 14: Christy(2/2)
"Haha, you really kill two birds with one stone." Christy sneered.
Now, she has no hope. She recalled that she had put in so much effort to become a Paladin and was on the verge of death several times. In the end, it was her belief in revitalizing her family that kept her going.
But fate was so unfair to her. If she had been told that she would never be recognized no matter what, then she would have given up as soon as possible, but those people would wait until she was at the peak she thought she was and push her off the cliff.
, how cruel this is.
The more Christy thought about it, the angrier she felt. She was so unwilling that everything about her was inexplicably denied.
Gradually, a trace of evil thoughts crept into her mind. She recalled what happened a few months ago when the demons first appeared. A mysterious man wearing a hood suddenly appeared from the shadows and told her,
As long as she is willing to trade, she can gain the power to overturn the entire world.
She knew that the other party was from the demon camp and understood what the so-called deal was. Unfortunately, she did not know that her situation would be so desperate at the time, so she refused without hesitation.
Thinking about it now, it seems like this is the only way she can go.
Christy was deep in thought when footsteps suddenly came from outside the hall. Soon, the waiter opened the door and let the man in.
"Lord Christy, your most loyal servant Daniel has come to see you."
The man wore the same armor as Ares and should belong to the same knight order. He looked very young, about twenty years old, handsome, tall, and elegant in his movements.
Daniel performed a grand knightly salute to Cresty, knelt down on one knee, clenched his right hand and placed it on his left chest, while lowering his head and waiting for Cresty's order.
"It's Daniel. You are still so strict. However, I have told you many times that people within the Knights do not need to be so cautious."
"How can that be done? Master Christy, you will always be the person I respect the most. Of course I have to abide by the minimum etiquette of chivalry. Please don't refuse anymore." Daniel's tone was very sincere.
"Oh, okay." Christy sighed.
In fact, she was really not polite to her subordinates. Before she became a paladin, she was always very casual and used to the unrestrained life.
Although her elders told her that one day she would have to be bound by rules and etiquette, she never took it seriously, and even prevaricated her elders by saying that she should consider the future matters later.
But now, everyone in the Knights is very respectful when they see her, and they don't dare to neglect her at all.
In the eyes of the nobles of the royal capital, she will always be a descendant of a traitor, but in the eyes of her own knights, she is a great paladin. This huge contrast makes her not happy at all, she only feels an invisible pressure.
She was breathless.
"Get up, what's the matter with you?" Christy asked patiently.
"Yes, I would like to report the casualties suffered by our army in response to the monster attack last night." Daniel stood up and said.
"Oh, did the monster come again yesterday?" Christy said casually.
Over the past few months, the demons have been attacking this town at intervals. Judging from this pattern, it seems that they do not want to directly capture the town, but just keep harassing it.
Christy guessed that the demons wanted to show their presence and make humans nervous.
"Huh? That's wrong," Christy noticed the anomaly and said, "Shouldn't the commander report this kind of thing to me? Why is it you?"
"Reporting to Lady Christy, the commander was killed in the battle last night, so..."
"Tsk." Christy frowned.
"But it doesn't matter. I will report the battle situation to you from now on. You don't have to do anything. As long as you stay here, we can continue to charge against the demons."
"Haha." Christy couldn't help but sneer.
Talking about constant charging, how could she, Christie Hede, be worthy of their death?
Monsters have a tenacious vitality. After a battle, humans will always suffer greater losses. If this continues, sooner or later the town's troops will be exhausted.
There were only a few people recruited from nearby villages, and most of them were stragglers who only served as cannon fodder on the battlefield.
She gradually became impatient with this situation. If her death could save the town, she would not hesitate to rush to the battlefield and fight the monsters. Even if she died on the battlefield, she would still be worthy of her status as a knight.
.
But the current situation does not allow her to do this at all. If she insists on going her own way, she will only arouse the opposition of the entire Knights. No matter how capable she is, she will not be able to withstand the siege of the Knights, even if they have no ill intentions.
.
By now, she had already thought of how to save the town and then take revenge on the nobles who ruined her future.
That is to make a deal with the mysterious man from before. No matter what the price is, it is better than giving up the fight.
