190 Traces of the Gauchos

The topography of Patagonia is very interesting.

The sea breeze at this latitude comes from west to east, carrying moist water vapor. However, there is an insurmountable barrier in the west of the South American continent, which is the Andes Mountains. The water vapor is left in the narrow zone west of the mountains and on the mountain peaks.

, forming snow and glaciers. To the east of the large mountains, the vast Patagonia becomes increasingly dry.

The further east you go, the farther away you are from the melting water of the snow-capped mountains, and the drought becomes more severe.

The place where Li Yu landed with Pujia and Amaranda, although it was the seaside, was as desolate as a desert. The Bonfire Town was located closer to the inland, to the west, and was slightly humid. At least it could rely on drilling wells and collecting water.

Rainwater supports local food cultivation.

Further west and deeper inland, the vegetation on the ground becomes more vibrant. Although there are still no tall trees, at least when you look around, it is no longer a land of earthy yellow, but a grassland.

It's just that this grassland is not green, but more like mature wheat stems and leaves, somewhere between green and yellow.

Li Yu looked out the window. His excellent eyesight allowed him to see clearly that these were just weeds, not food. Suddenly, he found a strange metallic color in the grass diagonally in front of him.

"Stop!" he said quickly.

Amaranda immediately applied the brakes.

Fortunately, everyone in the car was wearing seat belts, and the speed was not very fast. Even the old captain only felt a tightness in his chest due to the seat belts.

Before the wheels could stop, Li Yu opened the car door and jumped out. He took out his pistol and approached cautiously, so as not to encounter the 'mechanical creation of God's Kingdom' that the mayor said.

Based on his habits, he was naturally more cautious in this unfamiliar environment. But when he got close to a hundred meters away, he felt relieved.

It was a piece of rusty railroad track.

Pujia followed and asked: "Is that a train track?"

Li Yu nodded.

Pujia: "Was it built by the seniors of the association decades ago, or is it the old times..."

"It's a legacy from the old days." The person who answered was Captain Garcia, who quickly followed.

The old captain was slightly out of breath, but his face was rosy and he looked full of energy.

Li Yu pondered: "There are no sleepers on the narrow-gauge railway... Was it missing when it was laid, or did it decay and disappear over time?"

Old Captain: "I don't know about that. I saw railroad tracks like this when I was young. It's not much different from now, but it's just a little more rusty."

Pujia: "The climate here is dry, so the rust rate should be slower, right?"

Li Yu suddenly asked: "Do those Gauchos have a way to orient themselves in the wilderness?"

The old captain nodded: "Of course there are. The most traditional compasses and newer locators have been sold to them by the merchants of the association. And even if there are no instruments, it is not difficult to tell the direction just by relying on the sun, wind and vegetation.

.They will definitely go west."

When setting off, Li Yu discussed with Captain Garcia where to find the Gauchos - because there was sufficient water in the west, they could only go west. And because the Bonfire Town was in the south, the off-road vehicle had to go there.

The route at that time was to head northwest.

Li Yu took out a battlefield tablet and pointed the lens on the back at the sun. What was displayed on the screen was not sunlight, but the angle between the sun and the ground, and the latitude and longitude calculated from it.

Record the longitude and latitude coordinates in the tablet, click on the map, and a route will be automatically outlined.

This is the path they have taken in the past two days since they landed.

It is nearly a thousand kilometers from the southeastern coast of Patagonia to the grasslands deep inland.

"If we continue forward, we will leave Patagonia and reach the Andes. A few hundred kilometers further east is the Pampas. The climate conditions there are better and much humid than this." The old captain probed his head.

He came over and looked at the map and said this.

Li Yu pondered: "The Pampas should be full of guys from the Kingdom of God...but we still haven't recruited a single soldier."

Pujia couldn't help frowning: "If it doesn't work, go back and beat up that bastard mayor of Bonfire Town?"

Li Yu smiled: "It doesn't make any sense. Now it seems that we must find a more efficient method. This area is really vast and sparsely populated, and the population density is too low. It's impossible to search like this."

Pujia: "A more efficient method? However, the Gauchos do not have mobile phones. Even if they did, we would not dare to expose electromagnetic signals on the mainland..."

Li Yu: "You guys go back to the car and wait, prepare your weapons, and be on alert at all times. I will act alone."

After saying that, the black wings behind him spread out, casting a shadow that immediately covered the faces of the two people in front of him.

The old captain was shocked: "The Kingdom of God has always had air superiority, you are too reckless!"

Li Yu shook his head slightly: "Your understanding of the association's flying technology is still thirty or forty years ago. To be honest, I am not afraid of the God's Envoy at all."

Whether it is a conventional double-winged one, a four-winged or even a six-winged angel, he has seen it all. He naturally understands the flying speed of those guys. And the power of the flying equipment on his back makes him quite confident. Just in case something happens.

If you really attract a divine messenger, even if you can't defeat him, you can at least run away.

Pujia quickly handed over his submachine gun: "Then do you want to bring more weapons? This is a new model equipped with tungsten core bullets, which is much more powerful than the old ones."

When flying high in the sky, it would be a bit impractical to use a sniper rifle against the enemy. But the dark silver gun in front of you seems to be very reliable.

Of course, Li Yu also tried this kind of gun in the training ground. It's not clear how powerful it is, but the recoil is indeed much stronger than an ordinary submachine gun. If you don't have physical fitness that is far beyond ordinary people, it will be really difficult to suppress the head of this gun.

He nodded, took the new submachine gun, and stuffed the pistol into the gun bag on his waist.

Just then, the off-road vehicle drove over.

Amaranda, who was wearing a helmet, jumped out of the driver's seat, still holding Li Yu's helmet in her hand.

She handed over the helmet and said, "I'll go with you."

Li Yu frowned slightly: "Your flying equipment can't keep up with mine. "

Amaranda: "But the battlefield reference says that it is best for two mages to act together, especially when flying..."

"Don't copy the textbook," Li Yu interrupted, "My flying power is much stronger than yours. It's hard for you to catch up with me. How can we act together? If we encounter an angel, I won't be able to escape directly.

"

Amaranda hesitated to speak. She realized that although she was determined to fight, if she talked too much at this time, it would be a bit too much. The "lack of emotional intelligence" recognized in the academy was just that, this was a battlefield.

The young female mage blinked and saluted: "I understand. I will stay here to protect my comrades."

Li Yu patted her shoulder.

Pujia was a little dissatisfied: "Why do I need your protection? Don't treat Captain Garcia and I like children."

Amaranda curled her lips: "Tsk, why do you look like Rebecca?"
