Chapter 67: She Can't Run
In the ward, Mr. Lu was lying there, his face was gray and he looked not in good spirits.
Lu Yanbei walked in first, and an apple flew towards him and hit him.
"You bastard! Who asked you to divorce Xingchen? I'm telling you, don't come to see me until you get Xingchen back!"
Mr. Ji's angry voice sounded inside.
Ji Xingchen paused for a moment, then stepped in and called out sweetly: "Grandpa."
When Mr. Lu saw Ji Xingchen coming, his expression immediately changed and he waved, "Xingchen, come to grandpa quickly."
Ji Xingchen quickly walked to Lu Zhenrong and sat down.
Lu Yanbei bent down calmly to pick up the smashed apple on the ground, and took a few steps forward to raise Mr. Lu's bed.
When Mr. Lu saw this grandson, he became angry. He snorted coldly, turned to Ji Xingchen, changed his expression, and immediately smiled and said: "How are you lately? Has this bastard bullied you yet?"
Damn thing?
What an apt description.
Ji Xingchen smiled: "No, don't worry, Grandpa, he has become much more honest since you beat him up last time."
"It's fine if it doesn't happen, it's fine if it doesn't happen." Mr. Lu felt relieved, and then asked worriedly: "What about your divorce?"
Ji Xingchen was silent for a few seconds. Although she knew that Mr. Lu would be angry if she said this, she had to say it.
She considered her words and tried to speak in a gentle tone: "Grandpa, I think if I have free time these two days, I will go and get the divorce done."
Mr. Lu's expression suddenly darkened. He held his chest and coughed several times. Ji Xingchen was so frightened that he quickly poured him water.
"Grandpa, are you okay? Drink some water." Ji Xingchen handed the water to the old man and looked at Lu Yanbei worriedly: "Why are you still standing there? Go call the doctor!"
Lu Yanbei pursed his lips, took a deep look at Mr. Lu, and then left without saying a word.
Within a minute, the doctor came.
After an examination, the doctor put down the stethoscope and said: "Don't make the old man angry anymore. At their age, they can easily get angry and upset. This is very dangerous for the elderly. You juniors must pay attention to the mood of the elderly."
Ji Xingchen tightened his palms: "Okay, I understand."
After the doctor left, Ji Xingchen never dared to talk about divorce again.
The mentor, Mr. Lu, started talking about this matter again without a few words. He sighed: "I have watched you two grow up since you were young, especially Xingchen. Among so many female dolls, she is the one who suits me best.
Yanyuan, do you know how happy grandpa was when you were able to get married?"
Ji Xingchen lowered his head and remained silent.
Lu Yanbei's eyebrows moved and he whispered: "Grandpa, Xingchen and I are not divorcing for the time being. We will wait until you get better."
Ji Xingchen suddenly raised his eyes to look at the man, the question in his eyes clearly visible.
Lu Yanbei seemed not to have seen it and chuckled: "Xingxing said so?"
Ji Xingchen's eyes wanted to eat this duplicitous man alive.
Just when she was about to explain, she turned around and saw Mr. Lu's expectant eyes, and she suddenly couldn't open her mouth.
After a long silence, she said in a low voice: "Well, Grandpa, we won't be apart for the time being. We'll wait until you recover."
After Mr. Lu received the assurance, he immediately beamed with joy and held their hands together, "This is grandpa's good grandson and granddaughter-in-law."
When Mr. Lu forced his hand to cover the back of the man's hand, Ji Xingchen felt the warmth in his palm was scalding.
She twitched her hand uncomfortably and did not pull it back.
After a long time, Mr. Lu let go of their hands.
Lu Yanbei twirled his fingertips, and there was still residual tactile sensation on them.
He raised his eyebrows and said, "Grandpa, you guys chat, I'll get the report."
After talking to Mr. Lu for a while, Ji Xingchen came out of the ward.
When she bumped into Lu Yanbei, her face turned cold, she grabbed the man's arm and led him to the stairwell.
Lu Yanbei walked slowly behind, staring at the slender and clean hands on his arms.
Ji Xingchen pulled the person in and turned in. His fox eyes were cold: "Lu Yanbei, what did you mean by what you just said?"
Lu Yanbei chuckled, his voice clear and cold, "Xingxing, if you hold me like this, I will misunderstand you."
Ji Xingchen: "?"
She looked down and realized that she had been holding his wrist from just now until now. She immediately shook it off with a disgusted expression, as if it was stained with something unclean.
"Don't be so arrogant in broad daylight."
Lu Yanbei raised his eyebrows lightly, noncommittal.
Ji Xingchen frowned: "Answer the question I just asked."
Lu Yanbei dusted off the wrinkles on his clothes and said quietly: "As you can see, grandpa is not in good health and can no longer be stimulated."
"so what?"
"So we can't divorce now." Lu Yanbei said matter-of-factly.
Ji Xingchen endured the anger in his chest and tried to calm his mind: "We can divorce secretly."
Lu Yanbei's peach blossom eyes rose: "What are you talking about? How could I, Lu, do such sneaky things?"
Ji Xingchen twitched the corner of his mouth and looked at Lu Yanbei with a look of "Are you okay?"
"Lu Yanbei, do you think you are very humorous?"
Lu Yanbei’s self-evaluation: “average.”
"..."
Ji Xingchen felt that if he said more to this man, he would risk being pissed off.
Lu Yanbei smiled with his thin lips and stretched out his hand to pinch Ji Xingchen's round and angry cheeks: "Good boy, wait until grandpa recovers. If you want a divorce then, I can accompany you to the Civil Affairs Bureau at any time."
"Really?" Ji Xingchen heard this and looked at him suspiciously, forgetting for a moment the intimate action he had just taken.
"Um."
Ji Xingchen got the answer, "Okay, for Grandpa's sake I can tolerate you for a while longer, but I have a request."
Lu Yanbei's posture was lazy, "You say."
Ji Xingchen: "I want to continue living in Ji's house."
The implication is that she will never move back to live with him again.
Lu Yanbei raised his eyebrows slightly, "Okay."
Did you agree so simply?
Although Ji Xingchen was suspicious, he didn't say anything more.
After getting mutually satisfactory answers, the negotiation between the two ended. Ji Xingchen went in and said goodbye to Mr. Lu, and then left the hospital.
The afterglow of the setting sun reflects on the window sill of the hospital ward, creating mottled shadows.
Mr. Lu leaned on the bed and snorted: "I, an old man, can only help you so far. If you don't get me back, you will disappear from my eyes. I, Lu Zhenrong, don't have a useless grandson like you."
Lu Yanbei was leaning against the window sill of the bar, holding an unlit cigarette in his hand. There was a faint smile on his eyes behind the lenses, which were less sharp than usual. There was the arrogance and confidence of a person in power in his eyebrows.
Lu Yanbei's thin lips curled up slightly: "She can't run away."
