Chapter 5: Chunyan said: You marry my brother
The black snake carcass that I locked in the backyard didn't smell rotten. Late at night when no one was around, I began to think about how to deal with it.
It was a long black snake that was six meters long and as thick as a hug. Its scales were pitted and covered with mottled bloodstains. Only seven inches from its neck, a brass candlestick was firmly inserted there, with dark blood.
Frozen, it reminded me of the pain of losing my loved one that night.
Under the candlelight, the black mist surrounding the corpse seemed to envelope the entire yard.
I took a deep breath and bravely reached out to touch it.
Cold, stiff, with a chilly feeling.
The closer I got, the colder my body felt, and the fingers holding the candle trembled slightly.
The lingering black mist lingered around me, tentatively, like an invisible giant net, trying to lock me firmly in it——
I regret it!
I should just burn it!
But at this moment, I froze in place again, and could only watch the dark mist sweep in -
"ah!"
A burning feeling shot up from my chest and abdomen, like a meandering plum branch, from my waist to my chest, instantly dispelling the coldness in my body!
The black mist dissipated instantly, and when I looked around, I couldn't find any trace at all.
The body of the black giant snake was still lying there coldly, but it no longer made me feel scared and stiff.
Is it...is it a jade pendant?
I hesitated and slowly opened my chest, but I saw a series of bright red finger marks all over my snow-white chest under the jade pendant! From the waist to the top of the mountain!
Charming and lingering, it seems like... it seems like a trace of deep ambiguity between lovers!
It's him!
I immediately covered my clothes tightly, thinking of the man whose face I still can’t remember. I only remember his jade-white fingers, which were thin and strong, rubbing and climbing from my waist, and finally...
I bit my lips, tentatively reached forward, and slowly pressed down on the body.
The icy cold feeling wandered in my palm again, and the giant snake's body trembled slightly. I didn't know what was going on, but my chest was burning again!
The heat made me sweat all over my body, but it also filled my slightly cold limbs, as if my whole body was immersed in a warm hot spring.
It's like...like being held in that person's arms by the unyielding warmth.
And I slowly pressed the jade pendant with my other hand, and a strong feeling of heat burst out, rushing towards the black snake under my palm.
In just an instant, the black snake corpses in front of me suddenly scattered like quicksand, and when the wind blew, only smoke and dust remained.
No trace left.
There was a slight murmur and sigh in the ear: "Little bride, my power is locked, and now I can only protect you like this."
"If your destiny is met by demons, you will encounter more troubles in the future... Remember to accumulate more merit."
He seemed to chuckle: "Your husband needs merit to break the blockade."
These words were spoken so intimately that they made me blush.
The heat was slowly dissipating, and I mustered up the courage:
"Is it because of my destiny that I killed my parents and grandfather?"
The fading warmth on my body stopped. I held my breath and told the condemnation I had accepted in my heart.
However, after a long time, the helpless voice came again:
"Little bride, you should say - it is because of your arrival that their destiny, which had been terminated long ago, has been successfully extended for another 16 years."
"With zombie suppression like your parents, the whole village has not been invaded by monsters for 16 years."
"Little bride, from now on... you have to think more about yourself."
I subconsciously pressed the jade pendant tightly.
…
According to the rules of the village, if there is something to do at home, you cannot go to other people's homes during the New Year.
And my family died together...
They didn't speak, but I could feel the strange looks on the uncles who helped carry the coffin and conduct the funeral.
Now I am the only orphan left in the family, and I will be very sad in the future.
I'm ready.
But I didn't expect it to happen so quickly.
Early in the morning, there was a knock on my courtyard door.
It's Chunyan who's coming.
There was still a faint black mist surrounding her body. It seemed that being entangled by the snake demon for a period of time had some influence on her.
She is my best sister, and I have made up my mind to help Chunyan disperse this weird black mist, even if I have to rely on that person's power later.
However I didn't expect it.
Chunyan looked at me with a mixture of pity and strange pride.
"Yu Xin," she raised her chin: "You are the only one at home now. Who will do the work in the fields in the future?"
My family only has two acres of thin farmland, plus such a simple thatched house, which any woman in the village can take care of.
I do not understand.
Chunyan looked at me and smiled, with an inexplicable superiority in her smile: "Yu Xin, you are my best sister, otherwise I would never have given you this opportunity - you marry my brother.
Bar."
"When the time comes, you can just sew and mend things at home, and you don't have to worry about the fields."
"My parents have said that in order to support your marriage, they will give up the house where they live. Then I will suffer in your yard for a while... Look, how good I am to you!"
I can't believe it!
"Chunyan!" I stared at her, my lips trembling as I spoke: "My parents and grandpa just left..."
Is it really my fate that is bad?
I fell into a dream yesterday, feeling scorned by a man with whom I was not engaged, and unable to resist.
Now, my best sister is coming to stab you again!
Chunyan seemed a little embarrassed, but soon she raised her voice again:
"Because they just left and haven't passed a hundred days, it's considered a warm act of filial piety."
"If you get married during the period of hot mourning, you can let them watch from the spirits in heaven, and you will have someone to rely on for the rest of your life."
"Besides, you are already sixteen, it's time to get married."
I was shaking all over.
Just now, I was thinking about dispelling the black fog for Chunyan, but now...this reality gave me a naked slap!
Yes, an orphan.
An orphan girl who can bring a house and two acres of land as a dowry!
Am I Chunyan's good sister now?
No.
I am the sweet potato in their eyes!
"Chunyan," I looked at her with wide eyes: "You often complain to me about your brother's reputation - you say you are my best sister and everything is for me, how can you have the face to say such a thing?
If so?"
Chunyan's elder brother was a well-known scoundrel in the village. He stole from women and looked after widows. There was nothing he couldn't do.
Even Chunyan had been beaten by him.
Such a man... such a man!
Facing my questioning, Chunyan's face looked ugly.
"Yu Xin, do you look down on my family?"
"Do you think you are still the charming young lady who is protected by your family and doesn't have to do any work?"
"Don't even look at your current moral character - you have such a tough destiny, and your family members are all trying to kill you. How could a family of three die overnight? It's not like a monster is causing trouble!"
"You are just a bastard now. My mother thought about it all night before agreeing to my brother marrying you. Are you still here to make excuses?"
She stood up, her voice was sharp and her expression was twisted. She was nothing like the little girl who shyly talked to me about her sweetheart before.
And I pressed the jade pendant on my chest tightly and pointed at the door:
"roll!"
