Chapter 1 Reburial

My name is Lin Chu, and I was born in a small mountain village on the border of Nanyun.

People in the mountains have a more feudal mind and must bury them after their death. After my grandfather passed away, he was buried in the back mountain.

My grandfather was a Feng Shui master during his lifetime. He chose the cemetery himself. A piece of open space was left for grandma next to him. In the future, the old couple could join the tomb.

When I was in the second year of junior high school, my grandmother died of illness at an age. The family followed my grandfather’s last wish and wanted to bury her next to her.

Because my grandfather saw Feng Shui, my family felt more at ease and felt that nothing would happen.

But on the day before the burial, my second uncle and my father went to dig a coffin well. They went there at noon and no one came back in the afternoon.

Seeing that the sun was about to set, my second uncle ran back sweating profusely. Without saying a word, he took out the wooden box that my grandfather used during his lifetime and pulled me straight to the cemetery in the back mountain.

Because of the influence of my grandfather, our family can do some Feng Shui affairs except my mother. However, my father and second uncle did not rely on this for their income. After my grandfather died, the things in the box had never been moved.

Now that the second uncle has found out, something happened in the cemetery?

I was suspicious all the way, and when I went to the cemetery, I saw a red coffin in front of my grandfather's grave.

The coffin was very strange. The word "Shou" was written in front, but a bright red word "Xi".

This kind of coffin can only be used when you get married. Our place is called a wedding coffin. According to custom, women use red coffins and men use black coffins.

The lipstick coffin in front of me was also covered with coffin nails. Could it be that there was a female corpse inside?

I saw the situation, and I didn't ask much. I walked around my grandfather's grave and looked into the well dug. There was a mark placed in the coffin in the pit.

Did this red coffin be dug out from inside?

If there is a grave under the grave, it is a re-burial. As the saying goes, the Tai Sui head is a big taboo of Feng Shui and it will kill people!

Is grandpa trying to harm our whole family if he taps such a hole?

My father heard me muttering and glared at me, asking me not to talk nonsense, saying that it wasn't that my grandfather's hole was tinkering with something, but someone deliberately buried the coffin.

I was even more confused now. My grandfather was a famous good man during his lifetime. Our family was also a single village and rarely interacted with people. How could he offend others?

At this time, the second uncle opened the box silently, took out the compass and the peach wood sword, handed the compass to me, and let me press it on the coffin.

A compass can gather energy from all directions and use it to press the coffin. It is also called Bafang Laizhen in Fengshui.

I put the compass, and the second uncle inserted the peach wood sword in front of the coffin and hung a yellow talisman on the hilt of the sword!

Is this going to be tough?

When I saw it, I became nervous and picked up a copper coin sword from the wooden box and crossed it to my chest.

After all, as soon as the coffin was opened, no one knew what was inside.

At this time, my father walked to my grandfather's grave, threw a handful of paper money, and muttered, "Old man, is it a blessing or not, it's a disaster," he said.

Turning back, he and his second uncle picked up the hoe and started prying nails for coffin.

The coffin nails are also called descendant nails. There are also some considerations for how many nails are. There are descendants, three horizontally and seven vertically, and a total of twenty nails are called full-house nails.

If you are unmarried or have no children, you will be four or five, with a total of eighteen, and you will be called two sons.

The red coffin in front of me happened to be two young sons.

There are many stories in the mountains, such as old zombies and wild ghosts, and I have heard a lot of them in my childhood, but I have never experienced them personally. Seeing that the coffin nails were pried out one by one, I was a little scared.

After lifting the coffin nails, my second uncle and my father looked at each other. They held the edge of the coffin and lifted the lid smoothly.

After lifting it for about half a meter, my father glanced into the coffin and hurriedly called me to put the compass in the coffin.

I was so scared, but my second uncle and he couldn't make any effort, so I had to grit my teeth and pick up the compass, tilted my head and glanced.

As the evening approached, the sky was not very bright. I could barely see that the female corpse was lying in the coffin, wearing a red dress and dressing up like an ancient bride.

The woman's corpse has a round and delicate complexion, with no sign of rotting, and her hands are closed on her lower abdomen, as if she is asleep.

When I saw the beautiful face of the female corpse, I was not so scared. I stood on tiptoe and leaned my head into the coffin.

There is a faint fragrance in the coffin, which smells so good that it makes people want to get close to it.

When the second uncle saw me rubbing, he kicked me, and then I hurriedly put the compass on her chest.

But her chest was bulging. As soon as I let go, the compass slipped down and fell to the side of the coffin. I hurriedly reached out to grab it, but unexpectedly the movement was a bit big, and my face was immediately pressed against her mouth.

The female corpse's lips were cold. I don't know if it was an illusion. When I contacted her, I felt her mouth move and blew a breath in my ear.

I was furious at once, grabbed the compass and retreated from the coffin, stammeringly shouting, Dad, she, she, she seems to be breathing!

"What nonsense!"

My father roared and asked me to press the compass on her quickly.

Is it an illusion?

I was trembling and did not dare to stumble into the coffin. I threw the compass down from a distance and pressed it on her lower abdomen. I didn't care whether the compass was flat or not, so I said I had to press it.

Then my second uncle and my father moved the lid away and looked at the female corpse in the coffin. My second uncle looked carefully and looked up and told my father that this thing was probably a bit old.

My father nodded and asked me to see if it was a dead corpse or a living corpse.

Dead corpses and corpses are a saying by people in the mountains. Dead corpses are normal corpses. Living corpses are what we often call zombies and old corpses.

Old-haired corpses are also one of zombies, but this corpse will have corpse hairs on them. At the beginning, they will gradually turn green and black. When the corpse hairs turn red, they will not be afraid of water and fire, and are much more powerful than ordinary zombies.

The female corpse in the coffin has a white and tender skin, and it is not an old corpse. But to judge that she is a dead corpse, she can only open her mouth and see if she has corpse teeth.

I shivered and shook my head and refused to go.

The second uncle glared at me and said that the sun was about to set. If the zombies were not cremated in time, we would all be bitten to death.

When the second uncle scared me, I didn't dare to hesitate.

The female corpse's body was very icy, but it was not hard and soft. I didn't use much force, and gently squeezed her chin and opened her mouth.

Her teeth were very white and looked very beautiful. I touched them with my hands, but there were no corpse teeth.

When I heard that there were no corpse teeth, my second uncle breathed a sigh of relief and said proudly that he wanted to harm our family's humanity and could not get a living zombie, otherwise it would not be so easy to settle it.

After hearing what my second uncle said, my heart was hanging back. Then my father chose a piece of land not far away, dug a hole, and buried the red coffin in.

Out of caution, the peach wood sword and the compass were buried together.

After a while, we built a pile of small graves for the female corpse and burned some paper money before we went home.

After busy for several hours, I was so tired that I fell asleep when I got stuck in the bed. But I had nightmares all night, and I always dreamed of the face of the female corpse. She smiled at me in a daze, and then became ferocious and terrifying, spitting out long corpse teeth and chasing me and biting me.

When I woke up, I was sweating all over, but it was dawn outside and the yard was a little noisy, as if there were many people coming.

I rubbed my face and went to the yard. I saw Uncle Zhao from the next village.

The rules in the mountains are that there are special coffin carrying makers, and some places are called coffin masters and Baye. But here, coffin masters have evolved from corpse-drivers in western Hunan.

The difference is that one is rushing and the other is raising, so the coffin holder is also called the corpse walker here.

Because of my grandfather, Uncle Zhao has a good relationship with our family. He brought seven strong young men over and sat in the yard to have tea and chat.

During this period, my second uncle and my father seemed to be fine and never mentioned the re-burial.

After a while, a few of my grandfather’s old friends also came. Those were the older generations. I couldn’t get in touch, so I sat next to them and listened to their chat.

I got three tables for breakfast, and it was noon after I finished the funeral. As soon as the funeral arrived, my father, second uncle, me and my mother walked in front of me and mourning clothes, and Uncle Zhao and others followed behind me with coffins.

As soon as I left the house, I was worried, afraid that something would happen.

Fortunately, the road from home to the mountains was very smooth, but at the end of seven or eight hundred meters, I saw that I had reached the grave mountain. At the intersection in front, two big white snakes suddenly jumped out of the grass, holding their heads high in front.

Snakes block the road, this is a sign of great danger.

Maybe it was because of yesterday that my second uncle was very angry and picked up a wooden stick on the side of the road and wanted to hit the snake, but my father grabbed it.

At this time, the two big white snakes moved, turned around, raised their necks, and walked along the mountain road ahead, as if leading the way.

My father didn't say a word, his face was so squinting that it could wrinkle out of water.

As soon as they arrived in the grave, two big white snakes crawled onto the grave of the female corpse, and plated it into a circle, without moving.

Uncle Zhao and the others had already changed their faces. Grandma said to my father as soon as she got into the soil: "Huaiyuan! I just treat this as a favor to Mr. Lin. I will not accept the money and eat food. Some things must be prepared for your family."

After saying that, Uncle Zhao turned around and left with his people. Even my grandfather’s old friends didn’t dare to stay for too long. After walking away, the old men shook their heads and sighed, which made my mother and I panic and scared.

My father and second uncle didn't say a word throughout the whole process, and ignored the two big white snakes. They fixed grandma's grave, burned incense paper and went home.

When I got home, I had a lot of questions, but the atmosphere was tense and I didn't dare to ask. I lay on the bed and tossed and turned until midnight before falling asleep in a daze.

As a result, when my eyes closed, I dreamed again, dreaming of my grandma.

My grandmother loves me the most, and I am not afraid in my dreams. She ate the candy she gave and leaned on her knees to listen to her speech.

Grandma's hands shaved my hair one after another, and she smiled and said that she had found a wife for me and asked me if I like it or not.

At the age of thirteen, I didn’t think much, but I was shy. My face turned red and said that I had never seen anyone before, so I knew whether I liked it or not.

Grandma smiled and continued to touch my head, touching it, and I suddenly felt that her hands became very cold, making my scalp hurt a little.

Even in my sleep, I subconsciously looked up and looked up. This scared me and my scalp was blown up.

I saw two big white snakes hanging on the head of the bed, leaning forward, and the two snake heads kept scraping back and forth on my head.
