Chapter 2270 preparation with both hands

All the military actions taken by the Wei army have actually been under Yang Hu's planning.

Yang Hu is certain that he is sure of crossing the river with bamboo rafts. After all, Yang Hu was born in the north and was completely a layman in water wars. Although the Wei navy has been very popular in recent years, Yang Hu is not responsible for this, so he is relatively unfamiliar with water wars.

But even if the navy commander Wang Jun came at this moment, without a warship, he would be a clever woman.

When Yang Hu saw the bamboo in Jiaozhou move at the moment, he thought of a way to build bamboo and cut across the river. In fact, it was a solution that could not be solved. Yang Hu himself was not sure how much he had a chance of winning. After all, using bamboo rafts to cross the river is the same as experiencing a stone across the river. Whether it can succeed depends on the actual combat effect.

So Yang Hu has always been prepared for both ways. He trained the navy on this side and sent a cavalry camp quietly to wait for an opportunity to attack Gao Yao and prepare to cut off the Wu army's retreat.

In Yang Hu's strategic concept, attacking Jiaozhou was to fight from east to west, squeeze the living space of Wu step by step, and gradually erode Jiaozhou. In other words, if the Wu State takes a step back, the Wei army will go further, the enemy retreats and we advance step by step, and use this relatively mild method to capture Jiaozhou.

But Shi Ji and Tao Ji seemed a little "unaware of the current affairs". After the Battle of Jieyang, Yang Hu had already left them enough time to retreat west, but the Wu army did not choose to retreat west, but instead took a small step back from Panyu and retreated to a sandbank west of Panyu, trying to resist stubbornly.

Shi Ji and Tao Ji rely on only the geographical advantage of this sandbank surrounded by water, but in Yang Hu's view, this is just a piece of dead land. If the Wei army sieges it, the Wu army will definitely fall into a desperate situation. A small sandbank island, where more than 100,000 people in the Wu Kingdom fled, and they would be in vain. Even if the Wei army did not come to attack, they would be trapped to death.

It is not difficult to surround Panyu New City. As long as the Wei army opens a gap in the Gaoyao area and crosses Yushui to the south, it can completely cut off the Wu army's journey to escape west.

However, Yang Hu did not act rashly for the time being. After all, the terrain of Gaoyao Gorge is dangerous, easy to defend and difficult to attack. If the Wei army makes a little move, the Wu army will definitely spare no effort to go to Gaoyao Gorge for coordinated defense.

Therefore, only when the Wei army launched an attack on Panyu New City and attracted all the attention of the Wu army, Yang Hu could send the cavalry camp to raid Gaoyao Gorge, so that the Wu army would not be able to divide its troops to save Gaoyao Gorge.

Although Yang Hu was not very optimistic about the success rate of bamboo rafts crossing the river, during the next month of drilling, Yang Hu still paid great attention to every detail and urged Wei soldiers to master the skills of driving bamboo rafts and improve their practical ability.

To be honest, although these Wei soldiers were so lively on the battlefield, they became completely rookies on the water. At the beginning, they could control and control bamboo rafts, not to mention being able to stand on bamboo rafts and maintain a stable posture without falling into the water.

In just one month, it is actually a pretty good result for those land ducks from the north to be able to master the bamboo raft.

But it is far from enough to just master the bamboo rafts. If the Wei army needs to do something in the battle across the river, it must master the ability to land on the beach, how to arrange troops, how to attack, how to defend and how to retreat, these are all things that Yang Hu needs to carefully study and consider.

In this regard, there is really no experience to follow. Not only Yang Hu, but also Deputy Governor Wen Qin, Zhang Tong and the generals of the Fifth Battalion, they are all worried about this.

After fighting for more than ten years, this is the first time I encountered such a difficult problem.

But no matter how great the difficulties are, they are not difficult for generals of the Wei army. They are a very creative group. Even if they really start from scratch, they can overcome all difficulties and usher in victory.

Yang Hu was always prepared for both ways. If the landing across the river fails to succeed, the Cavalry Camp will decisively attack and raid Gaoyao Gorge. As long as the control of Gaoyao Gorge is completed, the Wei army can cut off the Wu army's retreat and truly encircle the Wu army on the isolated island of Panyu New City.

Yang Hu never regarded pacifying Jiaozhou as a quick battle, so when formulating a strategy for peacekeeping, Yang Hu did not consider the cost of time. In Yang Hu's view, this is a protracted war, ranging from one year or two to three or five years, which is very likely. As long as you are mentally prepared for a protracted war, you can be calm when you encounter difficulties.

Due to the fact that the preparations were quite sufficient, the Wei army performed quite well in the first landing battle. Although the attack ended in failure, the Wei army also produced morale and experience. I believe that in the next attack, the Wei army would fight better every time and win Panyu New City, it was only a matter of time.

But unexpectedly, Yang Hu did not strike while the iron is hot and continued to launch an attack. Instead, he adopted the backup plan he had already formulated before, and sent the cavalry camp to attack the Sihui, Gaoyao, seize Gaoyao Gorge, and cut off the Wu army's retreat.

In the first landing battle, the Wei army suffered more than 1,000 casualties. This loss is actually within a reasonable range. If the war is fought, it makes sense that the Wu army's losses are three to four times that of the Wei army. In other words, under extremely unfavorable conditions, the Wei army also completed the task of annihilated three to four thousand enemies. No matter how you look at this record, it is not much worse.

But Yang Hu still felt that the casualties were a bit expensive. If the Wei army continued to adopt a constant fighting style and wanted to take Panyu New City, it would have to launch at least three to four or more landing wars. Assuming that the number of casualties was roughly the same, then the Wei army would have to bear at least four or five thousand losses in this battle.

This does not include the Wei army's combat mission after completing its landing and wanting to completely eliminate the Wu army on the island. After landing, the Wei army still faces a major battle before it can eliminate the Wu army's resistance.

The final casualties of the Wei army should not be seven or eight thousand, and in the worst case, it is likely to exceed ten thousand, which is obviously something Yang Hu doesn't want to bear.

So, Yang Hu thought about it and finally decided to launch a backup plan to let the cavalry camp take action.
