homemade meal(1/2)
The man frowned, "Is something wrong?"
"Come and thank you."
Lu Jiao carefully looked at the work permit on his chest and said word by word, "Wei Ci."
"Need not."
The man walked around her and was about to leave, but Lu Jiao grabbed her by the corner of her clothes.
"I brought you food." Lu Jiao paused and added in a low voice, "I made it myself."
Wei Ci lowered his eyes lightly. The girl in front of him was raising her head slightly. Her cheeks were a little red. She didn't know if she had been waiting outside for too long. It was probably because she had just run over. Her hair was braided.
It was a little loose, and a few strands of hair hung down, wet with sweat, and stuck to her cheeks.
Her skirt was very white, so white that it was out of place in the messy construction site.
Just when Lu Jiao was still racking her brains to think about how to get the man to accept it, Wei Ci suddenly took the lunch box from her hand.
"Okay, I'll accept it," Wei Ci said, "You can go back."
Lu Jiao was stunned for a moment and then smiled. When she smiled, her eyes were curved into crescents and there were shallow dimples on her cheeks. She looked very well-behaved.
"Then I'll go back."
As she said this, she was about to turn around and walk back, but her body suddenly swayed and she almost fell down. Fortunately, Wei Ci helped her.
"What’s wrong with you?"
"It's okay, I may have some heat stroke and my head is a little dizzy." Lu Jiao covered her chest and took a few deep breaths, "Go back quickly, I'll just stay here to relax for a while."
"Brother Wei!"
Not far away, someone suddenly ran over and called him, "The second team is at work."
He walked closer and was stunned for a moment. He looked at the cold-faced Wei Ci and then at Lu Jiao standing beside him. He scratched his head and his voice became a little weaker unconsciously.
"Aren't you going to go?"
"I'm not going, just keep an eye on it for me."
Wei Ci had a cold face and a strong voice.
"If you feel dizzy, you can go to my place to rest before leaving."
The last sentence was addressed to Lu Jiao.
The girl seemed a little surprised, her eyes widened.
"Is that okay? Will it bother you?"
Wei Ci didn't answer, he just raised his feet and walked forward, but his speed slowed down a lot.
Lu Jiao bit her lip, suppressed her smile, and quickly followed.
Behind the construction site is their usual dormitory.
It wasn't as messy as Lu Jiao imagined, and it looked quite clean. Wei Ci's room was in the innermost room, and it wasn't a big place, but it was a single dormitory, so it was quite quiet.
The furnishings in the room are simple, with an ordinary single bed, a table and two chairs, and nothing else.
"sit."
Wei Ci took out his chair, turned around, poured another glass of water, and handed it to Lu Jiao.
"New cup," he said.
Lu Jiao held the cup and took a sip. She lowered her eyes, her slightly long and curled eyelashes casting a faint shadow under her eyelids.
"I've caused trouble for you again, haven't I, Wei Ci." The girl looked downcast, "I was very scared yesterday. I thought you were a bad person at first, but then... I just wanted to thank you today, but I delayed you.
Already."
Wei Ci is really not good at dealing with women.
He didn't know what to say, he just frowned and subconsciously wanted to touch the cigarette, but thought about it and gave it up. After a while, he just asked lightly.
"Are you still dizzy?"
Lu Jiao was stunned for a moment, then her face turned red. She put down the cup in her hand and stood up in a panic. Her movements were so big that she almost knocked over the chair.
"I'm sorry... I, I'm fine, you still need to be busy, then I'll leave first."
Wei Ci knew that she had misunderstood, so he cursed himself in his mind and frowned even deeper.
"I didn't mean to chase you away."
As soon as he finished speaking, a small gurgling sound was heard.
——Whose stomach is ringing?
The girl's face turned even redder, and she said awkwardly, "I...I'm leaving first."
"Let's eat together."
Wei Ci said calmly and raised his chin towards the lunch box on the table.
"You did it."
This room has always been quiet, except for the big fan in the corner that shakes its head and buzzes all day long, but something is different today.
The girl was busy happily, without any sign of heat stroke. She took out the packed lunch boxes, arranged them in rows, and sat down opposite Wei Ci like a primary school student on a spring outing.
"This is stir-fried asparagus. It has a very light taste and is more refreshing to eat in summer."
"I made soup and put a lot of mushrooms in it. It's quite fresh, but I don't know if you like it."
Lu Jiao enthusiastically introduced each dish, as if she had made it all herself.
Wei Ci picked up a chopstick casually and nodded, "It's delicious."
"Actually, I can cook a lot of dishes, but the dormitory can only use a small electric pot. It's too complicated to cook." The girl said with a smile, "As long as you don't mind it."
This was probably the noisiest meal Wei Ci had ever eaten.
Lu Jiao was chattering, sometimes telling him about the old-fashioned teacher in the college, and sometimes telling him that the express delivery station had a very fat calico cat.
Wei Ci had a dull face the whole time, not knowing what to respond, or why the girl was telling him these irrelevant things.
After finally finishing her meal, Lu Jiao reluctantly prepared to leave.
The man washed and wiped the lunch box by the sink and handed it to Lu Jiao.
"Goodbye." he said.
Lu Jiao took it but didn't leave. She looked up at the man and whispered.
"You still don't know what my name is."
She waited for the man to ask her, so that she could speak out easily.
But Wei Ci just looked at her indifferently and didn't say a word.
Lu Jiao had no choice but to say again.
"My name is Bai Yiyi."
"Okay, classmate Bai Yiyi," the man finally spoke, but his voice was very flat and there was no trace of fluctuation.
"Go back quickly." He said.
"This is a construction site, not a place where students should come."
"Don't come again."
-
When the roommates saw Lu Jiao coming back with a cold face, they knew she was off to a bad start.
"Is it so difficult?" her roommate poked his head out of the bed and asked her.
Lu Jiao snorted coldly, "You are so arrogant that you even asked me to come back."
The roommate "tsk tsk", "That's what you like, isn't it? If you stick to me as soon as we meet, wouldn't you be tired of it again?"
Lu Jiao tilted her head and thought for a moment, then smiled again.
"That's right."
When her roommate saw her sitting in front of the dressing mirror, taking out a pile of cosmetics and starting to apply them on, she raised her eyebrows and asked, "Going out again?"
"Go home and deal with my parents." Lu Jiao sighed.
"I don't have enough money to support a man."
The lunch meal alone made her overwhelmed.
She skillfully applied false eyelashes to the mirror, put on red lipstick, and loosened the braid. Her chestnut hair formed natural curls and was spread freely. She changed into a pure white skirt and Lu Jiao picked it out.
After picking it up, I finally changed into a red plaid skirt.
"You have become a living person. You are completely transformed."
Lu Jiao didn't answer, turned around, waved her hand, picked up her bag and went out.
When she was a child, she was grateful to the Lu family and her adoptive father and mother who gave her a superior life. Until the night when Lu Zhengting talked to her in the study at her eighteenth-year-old adult ceremony.
Given the current status of the Lu family, there is no need for Lu Jiao to marry. However, Lu Zhengting also bluntly stated that he is a businessman and never engages in loss-making business.
Lu Jiao is just his investment.
She is the best-looking girl in the orphanage. Maybe she was adopted not just to comfort Mother Lu who lost her orphan.
What she gets will eventually be given back to the Lu family.
