Chapter 44: The Monk Calls Two Dogs

When the monk opened his eyes, Yu Peng clearly felt that the village seemed to be frozen.

It's not an illusion, it's really solidified.

Outside the noisy room just now, the sound of pindrops could be heard in silence. Yu Peng glanced at the old lady behind him, and extended his right hand forward, maybe to give Yu Peng a hand, or to stop Yu Peng's actions.

Still there at this moment

Only Yu Peng could still keep moving, but he didn't know what was going on at the moment. He kept his hands hanging in the air and looked at the little monk in front of him quietly.

I don’t know how long it took, but the little monk finally blinked his eyes and turned his head to look at Yu Peng.

After a while, the monk floating in the air made new movements. His body lying flat changed into a sitting posture for meditation, but he was still suspended on the earthen bed, feeling a little untouched by the dust of the world.

It's just that when Yu Peng looked at the monk in front of him, he always had an awkward expression. His body seemed to be used to the meditation posture, but he seemed to be resisting it. After squirming for a long time, he seemed to have goosebumps all over the floor.

Then he finally sighed and landed on the kang in a meditative posture.

"Amitabha"

Following a clear Buddhist chant, the surrounding walls shook like water ripples, but soon returned to their original state.

However, the old lady who was sitting in the house disappeared. Looking out through the gap in the window, the people outside also disappeared.

"This is my spiritual world"

The young monk was meditating on the Kang, and his whole body was emitting golden light. It was constantly emitting from the young monk's body, and the spiritual space illuminated seemed to be plated with gold.

Yu Peng looked at the little monk in front of him who was glowing with golden light and looked like a golden Arhat. He secretly exclaimed in his heart. Compared with the white light that he could only illuminate around him, the golden light was obviously more comfortable, better-looking and more imposing.

I just don’t know what this little monk’s fighting ability is, and I don’t know if he can beat him.

Looking at Yu Peng with gleaming eyes, the young monk smiled helplessly.

"Where does this fellow Taoist come from?"

“Where you come from, where you are going.”

Yu Peng didn't know whether the young monk was playing tricks or talking about Zen. Anyway, the moment his brain reacted, he thought of the joke that several spirits often made with him in the past, the biggest philosophical question in life.

"Who are you? Where do you come from? Where are you going?"

After thinking about it, Yu Peng also spoke directly and replied this sentence.

Then, the little monk was stunned. It was obvious that his eyes were full of doubts and confusion. He was stunned for a while, and then he continued to speak carefully.

"Then...is there still a war outside?"

When Yu Peng heard the young monk carefully continue to ask questions, he immediately realized that he had misunderstood him and apologized quickly.

"Oh, I'm sorry, I was so rude just now! Sorry, sorry."

"There has been no war outside for a long time. It has been more than 70 years since the founding of the People's Republic of China. Now the country is peaceful and the people are safe, science and technology are revitalized, and the people's lives are quite good. Compared with your time, the essence of life is still the same, but it has changed to a different way of life."

Yu Peng quickly apologized for his remarks earlier. He thought the other party was being a jerk, but it turned out he was just asking a question.

Then thinking of the previous question, Yu Peng quickly continued to reply.

"I was going to the neighboring county, but even when I was passing by, I didn't know why I got in."

"Oh, that's it. The first time you leaned in, I knew that this was my barrier after all, but I really didn't expect that you could come in so casually. I also tried to stop you, but I didn't.

,So, I am more curious, how did you do it?"

"By the way, before you asked me this, I was more interested in what is going on here?"

Yu Peng did not respond to the young monk's question. After all, he seemed to have more questions now.

"Is this here? This is a bad fate."

Then, the young monk didn't hide anything and started telling his story to Yu Peng.

The young monk's surname was Li, and his name was Li Ergou. Yes, he was called Ergou, because it was the late Qing Dynasty, a time of war, and wars were going on everywhere. Generally, after giving birth to a child, a poor peasant family would, for the sake of personal gain,

To be auspicious, or to use a cheap name to make a living, the child would be given a local name, so that's how Ergou came about.

Ergou's family has a grandmother, father, mother, and an older sister, but the family only has a few acres of land, so their life has not been very good. Coupled with the war, local forces come to grab food and supplies every day.

, was forced to have no choice, so when Ergou was 5 years old, he sent Ergou to a nearby temple to become a monk.

To be honest, the temples at that time were very poor, but fortunately they had no worries about food, drink and housing. Occasionally, some officials and local wealthy people would donate money. Regardless of whether there would be deductions in the process, there was still money in the temple.

People had enough to eat. In those days, life was pretty good.

It is also true that many people from poor families, if they really can't survive anymore or have too many children, will try to send their more clever children to become monks or to make orders.

After all, this is better than starving to death.

In this way, Ergou became a monk in the temple, doing odd jobs, studying scriptures, and memorizing scriptures. Because he was good-looking and smart, he was deeply loved by the abbot, so he often went off duty to teach Ergou the Dharma.

Later, he was given a Dharma name, Wisdom, which means intelligence and wisdom.

Later, when he became wiser, after he was 14 years old, the abbot often took him out to perform rituals. Of course, the main purpose of performing rituals was to earn some money for the temple and support his brothers.

Moreover, his wisdom is really rooted in Buddhism. He can teach Buddhist Dharma and Buddhist scriptures as soon as possible, and when he talks about it himself, he is very clear and logical. Although he is young, his understanding of Buddhism is the highest among the younger generation in the temple.

Later, I learned some medical skills, and when I went down the mountain to perform rituals, I would visit people for medical treatment and write prescriptions.

It has accumulated quite a reputation in that area.

When I was 22 years old, once, Zhizhi and his brothers from the temple went out to perform a religious service. On their way back, they were stopped by a local warlord and they were forced to perform a religious service for the third wife of the warlord boss.

This warlord boss is also surnamed Li. If you look carefully, he is somewhat related to Zhizhi. However, in the local area, he bullies men and dominates women, dominates and commits all kinds of evil. He is considered the biggest bully in the area.

As good as Zhi Zhi's reputation in the local area is, the reputation of the warlord boss will be as bad as the reputation of the warlord boss. Therefore, when Zhi Zhi goes down the mountain to perform rituals, anyone who has anything to do with the warlord boss will try to avoid them as much as possible.

Unexpectedly, it was blocked this time.

Of course Zhizhi didn't want to go, so he declined politely.

Coincidentally, Wisdom actually knew the person who was rejected. He had been assigned by the warlord boss to go to the temple to invite Wisdom several times before, but without success.

Who would have thought that this bad-tempered adjutant would refuse again because of his wisdom, and still be embarrassed in front of so many people? Thinking about the pressure of the boss, he still can't get it done this time, then the boss might first

Kill yourself.

In a fit of rage, he shot and killed one third of the brothers who went down the mountain with Zhizhi.

Thinking of relying on coercion, I want to grab my wisdom first and then talk about it.

But this time, things got really big. When the people who were watching the excitement saw the dead people, they all got angry and ran away in a noisy way. Zhizhi and a few fellow apprentices also took advantage of the chaos to escape.

.

On the third day, a group of monks in ragged clothes fled to the village.

We had a meal here, and the village even arranged a place for them to stay.

When he wanted to leave the next day, Zhizhi felt that something was wrong, so he stayed alone to diagnose the pulses and diseases of the people in the village and prescribe medicines.
