Chapter 170 The Spy Shadow(2/2)

Shi Lei immediately and respectfully replied: "Mr. Chen also means the same thing, and I hope we can help him more."

"Well! Since he understands, we should cut off all contact. This is the best protection for him."

"Understood, General." Shi Lei replied immediately, but immediately he asked for instructions again: "General, when do you think it is appropriate to arrange for some of the prisoners, He Yilong's veteran army, to escape?"

"As soon as possible! But be as real as possible. Don't let all He Yilong's veterans run away, and don't be so stubborn that none of the Huangpi people who surrendered their troops or defected to the rebel army escape." Li Ping

He said with some worry.

"General, please don't worry about this. But when will we withdraw from Huangpi?"

"I think it's just these two days, but it depends on General Zuo's attitude."

While he was talking, Ma Yong appeared in a dusty state. Seeing Li Ping from a distance, he couldn't help but speed up his pace and start jogging, looking very anxious.

"Sir, the intruders have arrived at Hanchuan." Ma Yong shouted hurriedly before he could stop.

"What!" Song Baolai cried out.

"Is the news accurate?" Li Ping asked anxiously, suppressing the shock in his heart.

The straight-line distance between Hanchuan and Li Ping's garrison in East Lake was less than fifty kilometers. The cavalry advanced rapidly and could be reached in a few hours.

Without the river as a screen, East Lake would be very dangerous. Then only a small part of Li Ping's combat forces returned to defense during the day, and most of them were still at Huangpi.

Ma Yong stopped, took several deep breaths, and said as calmly as possible: "The news is accurate. The commander-in-chief has confirmed the news and ordered me to inform the general that our troops north of the Han River can arrange for the north

Cross the Jing River as a barrier."

Song Baolai couldn't help but let out a long sigh of relief, and then asked first, "Did you make arrangements when you passed by East Lake?"

Ma Yong immediately looked at Li Ping strangely, and Shi Lei's eyes also changed before he left.

"Crossing the Jianshui River?" Li Ping asked as if he didn't know.

After receiving an affirmative answer, Li Ping still just explained things in a matter-of-fact manner and said: "Let's make arrangements immediately! We will immediately redeploy half of our troops in Huangpi back to defense."

"Yes." Ma Yong answered loudly.

Ma Yong's sudden loud voice made Song Baolai finally realize what happened, and then glanced at Li Ping with some embarrassment.

But Li Ping just pretended that nothing unusual had happened and said to Shi Lei: "The timing is very good tonight, and chaos among the guards is inevitable."

"Understood." Shi Lei replied hurriedly.

"What did the commander-in-chief say about Huangpi?" Li Ping asked Ma Yong again.

"The commander-in-chief was overjoyed and praised him very much. He even said that he would hold a banquet to celebrate the general tonight." Ma Yong finally laughed and said.

"There's a banquet tonight?" Li Ping was stunned.

Note:

Chen Sheng is a real historical figure, some say he was sent by Ma Shiying, others say he was sent by Zuo Liangyu.

This article prefers that Chen Sheng was assigned by the civil service group because he was taken captive in Huangzhou (not sure about Huangpi). From the geographical location, time point and trust relationship, the possibility of Zuo Liangyu is relatively small.
