Great Flood (data) zt

The Great Flood is a common legend of many ethnic groups in the world. In the research of anthropologists, there are legends of floods destroying the world in Mesopotamia, Greece, India, China, Maya and other civilizations. Among them, the legends of the various ethnic groups in Mesopotamia obviously have the same source. Christians believe and claim that the legend has become more diverse due to the gradual dispersion of the living places of each ethnic group in the future. On the other hand, as the world re-recognizes their past cultures and legends, everyone was surprised to find the legend of the "Great Flood" all over the world. Therefore, historians are now committed to finding legends from all over the world and trying to find some past information from it.

However, there are also some ethnic groups with a long history, such as Mongolia, North Korea, Japan and Central Asia, which have no legend of "flood destroying the world", which arouses doubts from opponents.

The historical significance of the legend

Since most legends of the Great Flood are national, they may not be related to Christianity. Many Christians claim that the Great Flood is a corrupt human being used by God to destroy the world. However, other nations in the world do not necessarily have legends of the Great Flood. Therefore, some people believe that Christians linking the legends of the Great Flood in the world is just a kind of perplexity and wishful thinking.

However, this special phenomenon attracted the interest of Christian-led geographers and historians, and made them determined to find out the causes of the universality of this legend.

At present, a relatively credible reason is that 7,000-8,000 years ago, the global sea level rose sharply by more than one meter. This time, many nearshore and lower terrain were flooded.

The Great Flood and Noah's Ark

Among the legends of the great flood, the most well-known of the world must be the records of Chapters 6 to 8 of the Bible Genesis. The Bible records that because humans do evil on the earth, God determined to destroy the civilization of this world. God ordered the righteous Noah to build a giant ark, leaving at least one pair of every creature in the world, and put it into the ark. The ark was 130 meters long, 22 meters wide, and 13 meters high. It was divided into three upper, middle and lower levels, and each floor had a small spaced cabin. Then heavy rain fell from the sky, causing the water to rise continuously. The water surged, destroying all the creatures on the earth, and only those in Noah's ark were preserved. So, after the water receded, the Noah's family continued to live on a new land. They became the ancestors of all ethnic groups in the Middle East.

The Legend of Sumer

The legend of the Mesopotamian plain is very similar to the Bible. Before the story begins, there is a fierce debate between the gods in the sky on whether to destroy the world with floods.

In Sumerian mythology, the God of Wind and the King of the Gods Ennier felt that humans were too noisy, so they released floods, droughts and plagues to destroy them. However, the good-natured water god Enki taught Alahasi's knowledge of irrigation, storing grains and medicine, so humans survived. Ennier was very angry and decided to secretly call several gods to release a huge flood to completely exterminate humans, but Enki was still known and arranged for Utnapishtim to take refuge in ships in advance. Later, he gave Utnapishim the ability to live in eternal life and asked him to live in seclusion in the mountains. Ennier was furious and accused Enki of hindering his plan. Enki explained to him that for the necessary balance, innocent humans should not be completely exterminated and allowed the remaining humans to be banned. However, relative, if humans do not believe in the gods and fall, they can let the gods slaughter. This is the earliest version of the Great Flood record.

Mayan legend

The Mayan Indians had a sacred book "The Bobowu Sutra" that they regarded as their lifeline. It also contains records of this flood of gods who angrily punished humans. The book says that gods created humans at the beginning of the creation of heaven and earth, but this was a not-so-smooth experiment. The gods first carved into human images with wood and let them speak. These wood people later lost their favor because they forgot the existence of the Creator. So the gods decided to launch a flood to destroy humans...

Dayu controls water

There is also a legend in China that Dayu controls floods, which tells the story of starting from Dayu's father that he had already started to work on flood control. However, because the work was not effective, he was killed by Emperor Yao. When Emperor Shun took over, he asked Gun's son Yu to continue his father's work (there are two other versions: the legendary ancient emperor Zhurong once killed Dayu's father Gun on the order of Emperor Huang; the other is that Gun was killed by Emperor Shun in Yushan). Because the work was very effective and the people lived and worked in peace and contentment, Shun abdicated in Yu and began the first dynasty in China: Xia (Yu's son Qi established the Xia Dynasty).

According to the excavations of Chinese archaeologists along the East China coast, it is pointed out that there was a time when the coastline left further than the current coast.

Records of this great flood in ancient my country:

"Shan Hai Jing·Hai Nei Chapter" records: "The flood is overwhelming, and Gun stole the soil to destroy the flood."

"Mencius Teng Wengong" records: "When you are free, the world is still not calm. Floods flow and floods over the world; water flows backwards and floods over China."

Nuwa repairs the sky

In addition to Dayu's flood control, another famous flood in our country appeared in the story of Nuwa repairing the sky. "Huainanzi·Lanming Xun" says: "Looking at the ancient times, the four poles were abandoned, the nine provinces were broken, the sky was not covered, the earth was not covered, the fire was burning but not destroyed, the water was vast and endless. The beasts ate the people, and the birds of prey grabbed the old and weak. So Nuwa refined five-colored stones to repair the sky, cut off the turtle feet to establish the four poles, kill the black dragon to help Jizhou, accumulate reed ash to stop lust. Water. The sky was repaired, the four poles were upright; lust. The water was dry, and Jizhou was flat; cunning insects died, and people were live; the people were surrounded by square states and embraced the round sky."

Legend of the Great Flood of the Indigenous People in Taiwan

Amei people

The legend of the Ami people's flood, also known as the legend of the Sakhilaya, said that a long time ago, God asked people to worship gods before important festivals, but the harvest year after year made people forget to worship gods. The gods were furious and descended the flood, flooding many tribes. One of the tribe chiefs led his people to climb to the mountains of Sakhilaya to take refuge, but the flood continued to rise. Later, the chief received instructions from the gods to ask a pair of men and women to serve as sacrifices. The chief's daughter and a young man sacrificed their lives, allowing the Sakilaya to reproduce.

The Tayya

According to legends of the Tayya tribe, their ancestors were born in Pasvakan in the ancient times. Pasvakan means that the stones cracked and people were born. A man and a woman became husband and wife, gave birth to ancestors of the Tayya tribe, and reproduced many descendants. One day, it suddenly rained heavily and floods were attacked everywhere. After people fled to the top of Dabajian Mountain, they found a brother and sister who violated the taboo and became husband and wife. The tribe threw them into the water, and the water immediately retreated, and two rivers were formed, one was the Xiong River (Da'an River) and the other was the Xiong River (Da'an River).

There is such a prophecy in Babylon: "When the planets gather in Scorpio, arranged in a straight line running through their orbits, all humans on the earth will be destroyed; and the same gathering takes place in Scorpio, and the disaster of great floods will occur again on the earth, the former will be in midsummer, and the latter will be in severe winter." In a letter to his family in 1555, Nostradamus, a famous European prophet, wrote: "Before the world is destroyed, the surging tide will swallow everything and last forever. And the remaining lands on the water will be covered by flames and stones falling from the sky, and the beautiful world will be destroyed once!"

There are three main explanations now, namely, the theory of alien impact, the theory of earth volcano, and the theory of planetary abnormal movement.

The alien impact says: A huge asteroid hit the Pacific Ocean and caused tsunamis, earthquakes and other disasters, causing major floods.

Earth Volcano says: Earth Volcano eruption caused a major flood.

Planetary abnormal movement theory: The movement of the Earth's axis causes changes in the North and South Poles, and the climate changes drastically. The original temperate zone becomes the polar region. The ice and snow in the polar region melt and the sea surface rises. The entire process changes violently, forming a super storm, thus forming a large flood.

The above explanations all start from the inside of the earth.

With the research, new explanation has been proposed, that is, the interaction between planets triggers a flood on the earth.
