Chapter 461 Pursuit

After searching for the address Frank mentioned, Brian and Sarah successfully arrived at Joel's residence after spending a lot of effort.

Although the door was locked, this did not stop them. They took out a tool and pried open the door three times.

The two of them walked into the room, and what they saw was an empty room. There was a half-full bottle of wine on the table, and a wine glass with some residue on it next to it.

"Sarah, go and have a look inside the room."

After looking around the house, Brian said something to Sarah while he walked around the living room.

The room was empty. Except for some daily necessities, there was no information about its possessions. However, in a drawer, he still found a catalog of supplies from last year:

January 8:

8 bottles of pills (Bill never sorts the bottles, he has to stay up all night to sort them all.)

12 canned hams

8 cans of beans

4 boxes of bandages

1 case of Canadian whiskey

10 boxes of 20 caliber bullets

April 1:

1 bottle of pills

3 cans of sardines (no matter how hungry I am, don’t expect me to eat them.)

10 soup cans

7 packages of beef jerky

6 boxes of gauze

1 bottle of morphine (He actually found this? Well done, Bill)

9 boxes of 9mm bullets

June 13:

3 bags of fertilizer

1 bottle of premium scotch whiskey (this is ours, Joel)

5 canned fruits

2 working flashlights

4 gas masks

1 bulletproof vest (this should fetch a good price)

August 2:

8 bottles of pills (Joel, don’t forget to send these pills to Danwen in the West End as soon as possible)

2 boxes of 9mm bullets

12 D batteries

(I know what you are thinking, these goods are not decent at all. Bill promised that the goods next time will be better.)

Looking at the supplies on it carefully, Brian discovered from the information above that Joel should have a companion, and he often made supplies transactions with a man named Bill.

Putting the paper away carefully, Brian searched again, but did not find any useful clues.

"Sarah!"

But at this moment, low sobbing sounds reached Brian's ears.

He stopped what he was doing, walked towards the bedroom in confusion, called Sarah's name softly, then stood up and walked over.

Opening the door to the room, a strong smell of alcohol rushed into his nose. Brian frowned and found many empty wine bottles on the floor in the room.

Sarah was sitting on a chair, looking at a page of book in front of her, covering her mouth to prevent herself from crying, but her tears were falling down.

"What's wrong."

Seeing this, Brian quickly walked forward and found that there was only an outline of a portrait hanging in front of the table. Although he couldn't see the appearance, he could vaguely tell that it was a teenage girl.

His eyes passed over the book in Sarah's hand, and he saw what was written on it:

March 7, 2026.

Tommy and I had a big fight. This guy was attracted by Huoying's ideas and felt that what they were doing was meaningful. Hum, naive guy, he never knew that the emergence of these resistance organizations was just another sign.

The prototype of an oppressive force.

…..

April 15, 2026.

Tommy chose to leave, which was something I expected. Although I had already expected it in my heart, I was still a little sad when I saw him leaving. Next, I need to look for it alone...

….

March 21, 2027.

I left the quarantine area. There was no trace of Sarah here. I don’t know how many quarantine areas I searched, but I didn’t plan to give up.

…..

August 30, 2027.

I was attacked in a place called Lincoln Town, and mentioned two interesting people, Bill and Tess. I accepted Tess's invitation to be her partner because she promised to take me into the Boston Quarantine Zone, which was also a

good chance…

….

April 22, 2032.

I searched for a long time, but there seemed to be no trace of Sarah here. I wanted to leave here and continue searching, but I became more and more accustomed to life here.

I'm so confused...Sarah...where are you...You should have grown up now...

…..

The diary stopped abruptly at the last paragraph, and the pages behind it were all blank. It seemed that the author had not written for a long time.

At this moment, Sarah couldn't help but started to cry on Brian's shoulder. The pages of this thick book were all traces of her father's search for him. Others could not imagine how difficult it was.

Holding Sarah in his arms, Brian couldn't help but sigh at Joel's persistence.

Searching for his missing daughter in a wasteland full of infected people and thugs would usually end in three to five years, but Joel's search lasted nearly twenty years. To be honest, it was a bit unimaginable.

The two then searched the entire house again, but found no other useful clues.

Time passed little by little as the two of them waited, and the sky outside the window became dimmed little by little. Dark clouds floated in the sky, and it seemed that it would rain soon.

Sure enough, in just a moment, light rain fell from the sky and slowly flowed down the window.

Brian stood by the window with his arms folded, staring at the night outside and the patrol soldiers and vehicles looming on the street.

It was already the curfew time, and he knew that Joel might not come back tonight.

Although as long as they stayed here, they would be able to wait for Joel to come back sooner or later, but for some reason, Brian always had a vague feeling in his heart that continuing to stay here was not the right choice, and he might even miss something.

"Wait...could it be today!"

But just when Brian was anxious about the premonition in his heart, his mind suddenly recalled the content of his conversation with the time traveler Chen Shi.

"The protagonist unexpectedly met with the leader of the resistance organization... He agreed to help the other party escort a girl, the other protagonist, out of the quarantine area... The territory personnel of the resistance organization were wiped out by the group..."

This chapter is not over yet, please click on the next page to continue reading! Memories are emerging in my mind. It is not to blame Brian’s poor memory. After all, no matter who it is, it is impossible to recall it immediately after experiencing a long journey and crisis.

A conversation I had several years ago.

"The leader of the resistance...is Ma Lin!"

"Sarah, let's go!"

After stringing all the memories together, Brian slapped his head hard, picked up the backpack next to him, and said to Sarah: "Let's leave quickly now, I hope it's not too late!"

"What...what's going on?!"

Looking at Brian's sudden change, Sarah felt a little puzzled. When she saw Brian holding something, she asked: "Then my father..."

"I'll explain it to you later!"

Now was not the time to talk too much. Brian took Sarah's hand and quickly left the floor and came to the deserted street.

After confirming that there were no traces of patrolling soldiers around, the two returned to the bar. Under Frank's surprised gaze, Brian slapped all the remaining supply cards on the table and asked:

"Two questions, did Joel have a conflict with another group of smugglers today, and did they have a deal with Firefly!"

"My friend, where did you get this news?"

Hearing these words, Frank looked at Brian in great astonishment. He had only just learned of this news. But looking at the supply cards on the table, he suppressed the questions in his mind and cleared his throat.

said:

"That's right, Joel is still as ruthless as ever and doesn't talk much. Robert can't even think of provoking him. As for whether they have made a deal with Huoying, I don't know."

"I see!"

After getting the answer, Brian was even more convinced that today was the beginning of the plot of the game in Chen Shi's mouth, and said: "I will give you the entire supply card. I need you to arrange a passage for me to return to the West District and leave the quarantine area.
