20. Chapter 20 A fresh start
"You really don't plan to get up? It's 9 o'clock soon. You've already run back at this time." On the small bed, Naomi leaned her body sideways, supported her face with her arms, and said with a smile to the man lying beside her. Although the quilt was pulled over from her chest, the upper body was supported, and the spring light inside could be vaguely seen.
"It's no big deal to stop once a while." Sean sighed, looking at the ceiling.
"I just haven't seen my first performance on TV, so don't be so depressed." Naomi couldn't help but tap his fist on his head.
"You said too, this is my first time performing on TV. I'm so unwilling to miss it like this." Sean complained, then turned around and put his arms around her waist from under the quilt, then buried his head in her chest, "So comfort me again, Nami."
"It's enough last night." Feeling the numbness from his chest, Naomi smiled and pushed his head aside, then stood up and put his back on him and put on his clothes.
Looking at her beautiful body and the attractive spine, Sean couldn't help but sigh. After that night, he and they started to sleep in the same bed. Although they were not lingering every night, they were definitely not very often. They became more and more intimate in their daily lives, but neither of them knew each other's relationship.
Then, he finally got a role and successfully completed the filming and broadcasting. Of course, he wanted to share it with Naomi. Because the rented room did not have a TV, he took her outside to find a place to watch it last night. Because he wanted to give her a surprise, he went to the small bar and told the other party until the time came, so... he missed it.
It's very simple. Although some small bars have TVs, except for the news, they basically play sports events, American football, baseball, basketball, ice hockey, etc. Many people who can't go to the stadium for various reasons will come to the bar to ask for a beer or something, and watch TV while drinking and cheer for their favorite teams. If you want to watch TV series, you have to go to a cafe or some small restaurants, and only TVs in that kind of place will be played.
It was too late to find the cafe and small restaurant that played "Friends". As a sitcom, "Friends" only has more than 20 minutes per episode. If you delay it, you may miss half of it, not to mention that you are still waiting in the bar until the beginning, and then you will hurried out to search everywhere. So, Sean was unable to see his image on TV as soon as possible, and then Naomi laughed for a long time.
"I can't believe it, don't you even know this, Sean?" As soon as she mentioned this, her beautiful gray-green eyes completed the crescent moon.
I am not omniscient and omnipotent. Sean could only say this in his heart depressedly, but no matter how unwilling he was, it became a fact that he failed to see on the night of the broadcast, so he decided to sleep in this morning.
"They will replay it, and you can just watch it again." Naomi, who brought the simple breakfast to the coffee table, said.
"I know." Sean was still a little listless. After all, the replay is different from the premiere. And how many people can watch the replay?
"Don't worry, Sean, your performance must be perfect." Naomi, who saw something, said immediately.
"Thank you, I hope so." Sean shrugged, then glanced at the old computer in the corner.
After all, he was so unwilling to not see the premiere, and mainly wanted to know how he was acting. Although he thought it was good, the director and Jennifer all said it was good, but what about the audience's reaction? Many people, or most people in this world, when they achieved a result, would want to share it with others to get evaluation and even praise.
Some people may say that this is very vain, but isn’t this the norm of society? Humans are social animals, and they have been around for the past and present. How many people do not want to get more recognition? As long as they grasp the degree, know where their abilities are, and can listen to criticism, it’s no big deal.
However, although Sean was eager to know the audience's reaction, he was also very worried. What should he do if it was not popular? This is normal. It is the first time he faced anything, not to mention that this is his first role, the first role he has tried his best to turn around!
So he couldn't see his work at the first time. The computer was right next to him and was connected to the Internet, but he was still hesitant to check it out.
"If you care a lot, you can buy a few magazines and see how they commented." Naomi said again at this time.
"If such a very ordinary TV series will be commented?" Sean was slightly surprised.
"The most well-known newspapers and magazines certainly won't have them, but some sales or those who are concerned about the TV industry should have them, such as "TVshow". After all, "Friends" is a popular TV series." Naomi teased a little.
Sean touched his chin, suddenly got up and walked out, leaving halfway through breakfast: "I'll be back soon."
Naomi was stunned for a while before she laughed and shook her head and continued to drink her own milk.
However, more than ten minutes later, Sean, who was excited to go out, returned dejectedly. Before Naomi could ask questions, she handed over the "TVshow" magazine in her hand, and then fell into the sofa and remained motionless.
When Naomi opened the magazine, her doubts were immediately unraveled: "Last night we saw the latest episode of the fifth season of Friends on NBC. Unfortunately, it has not changed much as ever. Yes, this is a great work and is still popular today, but that unchanging style has obviously begun to hinder the performance of this TV series. The most obvious example is that everyone's personality was very distinct at the beginning, but over time, they began to homogenize, just like the new character that came out last night, we can see the shadows of Ross and Joey in him..."
"Okay, Nami, can I calm down a little?" Sean sighed, grabbing his head.
"He didn't say you acted badly, didn't you?" Naomi, who hadn't continued to read, said after thinking about it.
"It's just that it's not said clearly." Sean smiled bitterly and raised his hands.
"Hey, Sean, this is really nothing. This is just a comment from a magazine, why not look at the others." Naomi sat next to him and grabbed his hand. "You shouldn't be someone who is struggling about such things."
"I know, I know, I just..." Sean made a meaningless gesture, seemingly not sure what to say, and then the pager vibrated.
I picked it up and saw it. It was Frederick's phone number. Sean didn't want to reply. He had suffered enough blows until now last night, but when he recalled the original words of the agent, he finally borrowed Naomi's phone and called.
"How do you feel, Sean? Is it so excited that I can't help myself when I see my appearance appearing on TV for the first time?" As soon as I called, Frederick's exaggerated laughter came from there. Sean could outline his proud look in his mind without any difficulty.
"No," he rolled his eyes subconsciously, "I didn't see it, there was no TV at home."
"No TV? Then you can..." The other side was a little surprised.
"Okay, Fred, just say anything." Sean didn't want to repeat the bad things yesterday.
"Okay, the ratings have come out. Do you want to hear it?" The agent's tone was filled with excitement.
Sean wanted to say no, but his thoughts changed: "Okay, how much?"
"17.64 million people!" Frederick laughed, "Man, you took a pretty solid step!"
After hearing this data, Sean, who was already in a state of anxiety and fluctuations, immediately took a deep breath. Although he had just entered this circle for a month, he basically knew about these data. If a TV series can have about 15 million viewers, it will basically be a hot topic. If there are about 20 million viewers, it will be a hot topic.
Although "Friends" has more than 20 million viewers, there are many excellent programs with competitive ability, and secondly, there will always be ups and downs over the long broadcast time. So on average, the highest is 17 million people from 1994 to 1995, and at other times, it is basically 15 million to 16 million people. Since the fifth season started, the highest ratings per episode were 16 million and the lowest was 14 million, which is an average level. Now it has suddenly reached 17 million, which can be enough to show the excellence of this episode, just...
"Yes...they are indeed very popular actors." Sean said, grabbing his head.
"Of course they are...hey, what are you talking about?" Ferederick, who noticed something, asked, "Didn't you read the media coverage today?"
"I've watched it, "TVshow" says..." Sean's slightly depressed words were interrupted before he could finish his sentence.
"TVshow? You actually went to watch TVshow?!" The agent's voice became much sharper.
"Is there any problem?" Sean was puzzled.
"What's the problem? Ha, genius, do you know which publishing company of TVshow was released? It's Dable Publishing Company! Do you know who the parent company of Dable ? It's News Corp.! Do you know which subsidiaries of News Corp.? 20th Century Fox and FOX TV stations! You haven't read any of the journals under Time Warner, Entertainment Weekly or Essence?" Frederick's voice was loud and anxious, and Sean had to take his phone away.
Even so, he could still feel that the face with a look of regret was right in front of him.
"Listen, listen! This is the best episode of the fifth season. The continuous jokes make people not want to stop for a moment. The date between Rachel and Casapa is particularly hilarious... Oh, and this, there are many new characters, but this time the impression is the most profound... and these... and these... there are too many. Go to the street and buy them back to see it yourself! See how they praise you!" With the sound of flipping through the book, the agent yelled at the other end, and the heart that had already begun to beat rapidly with his words began to become more intense.
An unprecedented feeling surged out of my heart, so that Sean put down the phone and looked absent-minded.
"How are you doing, Sean?" Naomi asked worriedly from the side.
Sean slowly raised his head: "It's okay, I'm just..."
Success? Yes, Success!
"I won, Nami, I won!" He suddenly jumped up, hugging Naomi, who was relatively petite, in his arms, and laughed.
Chapter completed!
