Thirty-second Blind Radar

【32】"Blind" radar

General Yuan also found that it was dark at this time, and he smiled and said to Xiaoqiang:

"Look, my master is really incompetent. He even makes the guests hungry after dinner. Let's go to dinner first, and we will continue to talk after dinner."

So the three of them chatted and laughed and went to the nearby Zhuyuan Hotel for dinner. After eating and drinking, they returned to the conference room of the Ministry of National Defense to continue discussing military purchases.

Everyone burped and calculated the Navy's purchase bill, totaling 2.408 billion yuan. The two sides negotiated to erase the fraction and counted it as 2.4 billion yuan. The total amount of the purchases negotiated earlier reached an astonishing 3.4 billion yuan.

"General Yuan, then this military purchase has been decided like this. We are a win-win situation, but I have a requirement." Xiaoqiang said this and stood up straight from the back of the chair and looked at General Yuan Kedi.

General Yuan said that the show was coming this time and said, "Just say it."

Xiaoqiang said: "I hope to pay in gold, and I hope to store gold in our government to facilitate future transaction settlement."

There is such a tradition in the international community. For example, many countries store gold in the United States because the United States is their main trading country, and the New York Futures Exchange is also the main pricing exchange for world gold trading. However, few countries have gold reserves in China, and even if there are, there are very few. The gold varieties of the Shanghai Futures Exchange do not have the right to price. There is still a long way to go to let countries around the world keep gold reserves at the People's Bank of China.

As a senior leading cadre among soldiers, General Yuan still has a certain degree of sensitivity. He intuitively realized that this is a very important thing.

"I can promise you to pay directly with gold. I will convey the matters about reserve gold to my superiors. I feel that there is no problem."

Xiaoqiang thanked General Yuan and said:

"Can I hand over the gold first? I have nineteen tons of gold in the warehouse, and I can't sleep for a day if I don't deliver it for a day."

General Yuan was surprised, "Nineteen tons?! Wait a minute, I'll call the superior leader for instructions."

General Yuan turned around and went out and came back soon.

"Xiaoqiang, the leaders of the People's Bank of China's Currency, Gold and Silver Bureau and the Treasury Bureau will come over with the escort personnel in a while, let's wait a moment."

After the staff from the Currency, Gold and Silver Bureau and the Treasury Bureau arrived, things were simple. They directly sent staff from the Currency, Gold and Silver Bureau to rush to the warehouse with special gold escort vehicles, and accepted and sealed the 19 tons of gold in front of Xiaoqiang and escorted them away.

Xiaoqiang received the receipt and made an appointment with General Yuan to continue discussing follow-up matters with the Ministry of National Defense tomorrow. Then he ordered Zhou Lan and others who had been waiting in the warehouse today to go home to rest quickly. He himself returned to the big house in Rongze Mansion and fell asleep. He was too tired today.

In 1949, Pu Hai here received a secret telegram from the Central Committee that Commander Chen Yi, who was planning an air strike on Pu Hai, was deploying personnel to repair the radar at a fast speed of 100,000.

The news from the central government is naturally not groundless. According to the information provided by Xiaoqiang, the central government has made a lot of preparations for the air strikes to occur. Since we have known it in advance, we cannot let the tragedy of history repeat itself.

In fact, in July 1949, the East China Military Region Puhai went through hard work to select two of the more than 10 dilapidated radars left by the Kuomintang. After a little renovation, it was set up on a 6-story building on Anguo Road and established our first radar team, which was specifically responsible for Shanghai's air alert.

It is really not easy for these two radars to come. These two relatively complete Japanese-made "Four-Type" radars, as well as some incomplete 313 and Air-6 radar components, were all left to the Kuomintang by the Japanese army when Japan surrendered. When the Kuomintang army retreated from Puhai, they only cared for gold, silver, and soft and his wife. No one cared about the things that could not be exchanged for money, and they did not have time to transport them away. They threw them into the grass like garbage. After the liberation of Puhai, the air defense department collected them based on the clues provided by Chen Tingzheng and others. After hard maintenance, a Japanese "Four-Type" radar was set up, and the other "Four-Type" radar was still to be repaired. If it weren't for the good habit of hard work and simple collection of rags, our army would not have even used a radar at this time. There is no way, the rabbit's family was so shabby...

At the same time, the East China Military Region also established 7 and 8 eye-catching observation posts in Puhai city to observe the enemy planes entering; the Military Region Command transferred the only anti-aircraft artillery units in the military region to Puhai to form important targets such as air firepower, defending power plants, tap water, and railway stations. The guards stationed in the city chose high-rise buildings within their jurisdiction and set up anti-aircraft machine guns to deal with dive bombing and strafing enemy planes; at the same time, air defense alarms, light controls, fire rescue and other civil air defense organizations were established. However, despite this, Puhai's air defense force was still relatively weak, and the bombing of enemy planes was becoming more and more frequent and larger.

Although there are these two radars, the "Two and Six" air raid in history still happened. There is another reason for this, that is, although the radar can be turned on after it is installed, it does not work!

What's going on? On the surface, the machine works "normal". Occasionally, there are some minor problems, such as plugs and poor panel switch contact. The radar monitor also asked the captain of the radar team to eliminate the first two times, and soon they learned it themselves. However, no one at that time suspected that the radar in front of them could not find the "blind man" of the plane!

It was not until the "Two Sixth" tragedy that the comrades at the radar station were extremely depressed and puzzled. Why did the radar not detect and warn in advance? There is no such thing as stealth aircraft these days. So, they quickly invited experts from Puhai to consult, which solved the problem of blind radar.

First of all, three professors and engineers engaged in radio engineering were invited, but radar is a military product, and no one has ever played with it. The professors and engineers looked at each other horizontally and vertically, and the conclusion was that the lines were working normally, so the distance between the two lines was like a mountain. There was a difference between military equipment and civilian equipment, so why should we train military experts?

It would be impossible not to solve the problem of burning eyebrows in front of you. After inquiring around, I heard that Jiang Dazong, a lecturer at Jiaotong University, used radars when he served in the Myanmar battlefield expeditionary force during the Anti-Japanese War. Mr. Jiang was a teacher at Jiaotong University Radio Experimental Course. After seeing the machine's work, he made a preliminary judgment based on the phenomenon that the radar stand had no fixed echo on the roof of the 6th floor. It was a preliminary judgment that the transmission and reception system might not be adjusted properly. He also suggested that Mr. Qian Shangping, chief engineer of Puhai International Radio, come for a "consultation". Jiang Dazong said that although Mr. Qian had never used radar, he had rich practical experience in radio transmission and reception stations. The air defense department immediately dispatched cars. Two comrades took a letter to send Mr. Qian to the radar team. Mr. Qian listened to the introduction of the machine's working condition and went to the site to observe, and made a clear judgment that the "cause" of the machine was that the transmission and reception system was out of order (that is, the working frequency of the transmitter was inconsistent with the operating frequency of the receiver). Under the specific guidance of Mr. Qian and Mr. Jiang Dazong, they repeatedly checked and adjusted the transmission and reception system, and finally a fixed echo appeared on the monitor fluorescent screen. This fixed echo was extraordinary. It marked that the first radar team of our army could truly undertake the air intelligence support task from this day!

Since Xiaoqiang mentioned this matter to the Prime Minister during a meeting, in this different 1949, the air defense department directly found Jiang Dazong and Qian Shangping to deal with this issue. The radar finally started normally earlier than in history.

Although the five sets of YL-70 medium and long-range radars that Xiaoqiang brought last time were developed for imitating the Soviet Y-35 radar in the 1970s, their performance was much stronger than these two sets of Japanese old radars. In this era, both the search range and the target's range and height measurement ability are considered the world's first, and it is not an exaggeration to say that they are the world's first. At this time, two of the radar systems are being quickly transported to Shanghai for installation and commissioning. There are also two HQ04 low-altitude air defense radar vehicles that are also transported to Puhai under the escort of the troops. The deployment of the radar is generally coordinated to form a mutually supportive air defense guidance point. Not long after, the East China Golden Triangle Air Defense Network formed by these six radars will completely cover the high and low altitudes within a few thousand kilometers. Waiting for Lao Chiang to raid the aircraft will be a nightmare.

At this moment, the bald head was searching and killing underground party members of our Communist Party of China's Taiwan Working Committee on a large scale, while begging the United States to provide help to him with armed counterattack on the mainland.

In 1949, the Taiwan authorities arrested 10,000 people for investigation, the military court sentenced many people to jail, and more than 1,000 people were executed. According to incomplete statistics, between 1949 and 1952 alone, about 4,000 people were shot by the Taiwan authorities in the name of "bandit spies" and "Communist Party", and were sentenced to life imprisonment for sympathy, and 8,000-10,000 people were sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment. As for those who have no family background and social status, they were arrested and executed secretly, and there was no counting.

At that time, the white terror in Taiwan had developed to the extreme! If you dare to stand by the strait and look at the other side alone, you can arrest and shoot; if you dare to publish news that is unfavorable to the Party and the country in newspapers, shoot; if you dare to marche and demonstrate, shoot. If you have dissatisfaction in communications, letters and telegrams, shoot; if you are reported to be dissatisfied with the Party and the country in conversations, shoot...

The military plan of the bald man was to first use air force air raids to destroy the coastal industry, and at the same time, the sea blockade was implemented to cut off mainland sea trade, and finally counterattack landed to recreate his bald man's dictatorship...
