7. Ye Shidang's suggestions
"Don't move, wait until the food and weapons are ready, and it will not be too late to attack again." Gao Yue was very calm in the Qingzhou camp.
The emperor sent a middle-aged official to ask about the advice, and Gao Yue's reply was:
Dai Xiuyan, the governor of Weibei, defended Yanzhou City and stopped the attack of the six governments from Dangxiang to the south. Hunjun and Li Ziliang each led two thousand cavalry to cross the Yellow River to Danzhou, and formed a horn with Dai Xiuyan;
Gao Chongwen of Yanzhou, Hantan of Linzhou and Li Jingluo of Zhenwu Army also defended the boundaries without moving, clamping the Yuzhou and Xiasuiyin zones in the north of Baiyushan, monitoring the movements of Pingxia troops and waiting for the orders of attack;
The Yining Army had 12,000 shooting soldiers, and were divided into Neiyuan, Huating, etc., to guard against the attack of the western border crossing Longshan;
The Dingwu Army had three thousand Sheshi soldiers, stationed in Hechi City, Fengzhou, Liu Haibin's Weirong Army stationed in Pingliang, Xing Junya's Xuanwei Army stationed in Liangyuan, Feng'an, Xiaoguan, Guyuan, and Shimen Shence Army stationed in unmovable, and also guarded against Xifan. Using the Yellow River, Longshan and Liupan Mountain as the boundary, the battle situation between Dangxiang and Xifan was divided so that they could not connect with each other;
I personally led the main army in Qingzhou, taking the opportunity to attack the Chou and Qiang, and capturing all the rebellions for His Majesty.
Gao Yue looked at the map sand table in the entire Weibei. There was Ziwuling in the west, Huanglong Mountain, Huanghe River, and Baiyu Mountain in the north, which happened to cross Weibei. The Maling River and Luohe River divided Weibei into Qingzhou and Yanzhou two large pieces, just like a horse's hoof. Yanzhou was originally a connected river land, but with the years of erosion, cutting, and split into high and low, undulating plateaus. After crossing the Wild Boar Ridge south of Yanzhou, it went to Fuzhou and Fangzhou. Then the terrain gradually lowered. In the end, as long as you cross the Fu Plain, it was the 800-mile Guanzhong plain where Chang'an City was located.
As for Weibei and Qingzhou, it is connected to Shuofang area through Baiyu Mountain (Hengshan). There are roughly three routes left, middle and right. On the left, it is from Qinggangling Canyon from Qingzhou, you can reach Yanzhou, and further north is Lingwu, along the train car gorge, you can also reach Yanzhou boundary; the middle section is from Jinming Road northwest of Yanzhou, passing Luzi Pass (now north of Ansai, Shaanxi), and reaching Wuyankou. The north of this pass is Tongwancheng (Baichengzi), which lies in Xiazhou; and on the right, it is from Yanzhou northwest of Yanzhou, sandwiched between the river valley on the west bank of the Yellow River, you can pass Suizhou. As for the pass Rulinyuhe Fort, it is also the Yinzhou Institute (now Yulin, Shaanxi). Here, you can go west along Wuding River to Xiazhou, continue to north along Linzhou and Shengzhou, and you can reach the Shanyu Protectorate of Zhenwu Army.
These three routes have been a must-fight place for military strategists since ancient times.
Previously, because Tang firmly controlled the three surrender city system in the Hetao and Yinshan areas of the Yellow River, and had heavy troops here, the importance of Baiyushan was not yet prominent. However, since the Anshi Rebellion, the three surrender city was opened to the west, and Dangxiang, Xifan and Uighurs could all pass through the desert of the sea and threaten the capital to Baiyushan. Therefore, this place was suddenly a place of life and its importance jumped to Lingwu and Zhenwu, becoming the barrier for the Tang family to work hard to protect the capital. Now it cannot tolerate Dangxiang's rebellion and independence here.
Gao Yue's strategy was very clear: around this horseshoe-shaped area, other square towns were still in a stable manner, defending themselves, saving money and food. The main force of the mobile field was my military horse in Qingzhou. When the time was ripe, I would cut off the ambitions and delusions of the Dangxiang forever, like a sharp knife.
