Chapter 918 Fighting against Cheng Zhu Li - the end

After selecting more than 100 people on the list of the imperial examination, the palace examination will be held to determine the ranking of these people and the official positions they will choose in the future. However, some days have passed before the palace examination, this is not the most eye-catching thing inside and outside the court.

The most eye-catching thing inside and outside the court now is of course the debate between the Neo-Confucian School and other schools.

Since Yun Yu announced the abolition of the decree of Zhu Yuanzhang's family servants issued by Zhu Yuanzhang and ordered the abolition of the burial system of burial, the Neo-Confucian school and other schools have been constantly engaged in verbal battles. As time goes by, not only did not stop slowly, but it has become more and more intense. Not only civil officials in the capital, but also local officials near the capital have written letters to the capital and entrusted friends to post big-character posters for themselves.

Although there are many differences between the Neo-Confucian School and other schools and there are many opinions that can be debated, both sides involuntarily focused on their attitudes towards women. First, this debate was caused by the abolition of preferential treatment for the family of the ancestral woman, and second, talking about other things can easily cause taboos.

Confucius personally said that the king, monarch, minister, father, son, son, son, and son compare the relationship between monarch and minister to father and son. Even if he is willing to speak with gold and jade, he should follow etiquette and not do whatever the father says. However, the ministers say such words are still easily suspected of being unfilial by people with ulterior motives, so everyone tried to avoid this topic. As for the king as the leader of the minister, no one dared to talk about it. Moreover, the differences between the two sides on this point are very small, so everyone debated the status of a woman.

Yun Ying leaned on the couch, closed her eyes and listened to Chen Ying narrating the main debate topics and basis of both sides during this period, and said: "In this way, the main basis of the Neo-Confucian school is what Confucius said in the Analects of Confucius: 'It is only a difficult thing for women and villains to raise them'?"

"Yes, Your Majesty." Chen Ying said: "There are very few words about women in Confucius' words. Even if there are, most of them are just talking about the ways of husband and wife. Women naturally have to obey their husbands, but to what extent they obey is only in accordance with etiquette, so it is difficult to use as a basis."

"There are many classics after Confucius, because this debate is based on the name of "the original origin," so it cannot be cited. Therefore, this sentence of Confucius' derogatory words about women was named as a criterion by the Neo-Confucian School and argued with the Zhou Li, Han Li and other schools."

"So that's it." Yun Ying opened her eyes, picked up the "Analects of Confucius" placed aside, looked through a few pages and confirmed his guess again, and said to Chen Ying: "You are here to hear me." He then said a few words in Chen Ying's ear.

Chen Ying was very surprised when she heard Yun Ying's words. She silently recited "The Analects of Confucius" several times in her heart, then raised her head and muttered in disbelief: "How could this be so?" Even though Chen Ying only regarded Confucian classics as a stepping stone, she was also a little shocked. If Yun Ying said it was right, then the entire Confucianism would be affected.

"Chen Aiqing, you should also understand what I mean. Find a suitable time to spread this view." Yun Xu said.

Chen Ying came back to her senses and bowed and said, "I will definitely not be humiliated."

...

...

The next day, the morning is Si.

This day is the day when all officials rest on March 25th. Since it is a day of rest, the ministers do not have to go to court or to be in charge, and can do what they want. Therefore, such days are the most active days for both sides of the debate, and today is no exception.

Starting from the beginning of Chen, people posted big-character posters on wooden boards to express their own views or argue against other people's views. Most people in this era slept very early at night, so they woke up very early. Many people got up at the beginning of Mao, and wrote in the faint sunshine and posted them after dawn.

This is why a very normal thing happened: many people with opposing views met when they came to post big-character posters and then they became arguing for granted. Soon, more and more people gathered in front of the wooden board, divided into two sides, and argued loudly. From a distance, it looked like two groups of criminal gangs of gangs of gangs of gangs were about to start a movie. But if you get closer, you will find that most of the people on both sides are middle-aged and elderly people over forty years old, wearing long gowns, flirting with fluent or stiff words in their mouths, and fiercely argued. There were also people nearby who were anxious and fucking what they said while fucking something no one could understand. They should be officials from Guangdong, Guangxi and Fujian.

At this time, in the police station near this public rental housing, two policemen were sitting on the roof, watching the civil servants debate strangely while eating melon seeds. One of them said: "This is really novel. My family has been living in the capital for generations. It is the first time that I have seen civil servants making such noises after living in nearly thirty years old." He said, "They won't fight, are they? If the fight starts, we two guard the police station and watch without movement, and I'm afraid they will be scolded by Shangguan."

"No." The other man said: "literati are concerned about gentlemen not acting. Although these civil servants may not be considered gentlemen, they will not take action either."

"What's more, even if they do something, what's the use of us to go up and persuade us? Most of them are court officials. Will they listen to our two? If we meet someone, we will not be scolded."

As he was speaking, another person walked into the public rental house from the east, walked to the vicinity of the civil servant who was discussing fiercely, and wanted to separate the crowd and walk inside.

"This is, Chen Ying, the clan of the Secretariat?" said a policeman.

"It's Lord Chen. I heard that he is His Majesty's confidant."

"Since that's the case, what he said must have been approved by His Majesty?"

"It should be that."

"It seems that this debate is about to end. How could His Majesty's confidant argue about this matter at will? There must be very important evidence." The policeman said.

At this time, Song Lin and others who were standing in front of the wooden board thought the same as him. Chen Ying had not spoken a few days ago, and there was no big-character poster posted. At this moment, it must be because of the basis that he thought was difficult to refute. Song Lin couldn't help but stop talking and clenched his fists at Chen Ying.

Many people thought like Song Lin, so gradually there was no sound in the field, and everyone's eyes were staring at Chen Ying who was already standing in the middle.

Chen Ying enjoyed this attention quite a bit, and then looked around and coughed twice, asking Song Lin: "Scholar Song, student, how many words "female" are there in the Analects of Confucius?"

Song Lin was a little confused, but he still silently recited the Analects of Confucius in his heart and replied: "There are a total of nineteen characters "female" in the Analects of Confucius."

"I wonder how many of them are called "ru"?"

"Your Majesty, there are 18 characters "女" that are used in the word "女".

As soon as he finished speaking, Song Lin reacted and said in surprise: "Is it Confucius' original intention that the remaining word "女" also corresponds to the word "ru"? The original meaning of this sentence is..."

"It's 'It's hard for you to raise a villain to raise a villain.'" Chen Ying said loudly: "There are 19 characters in the Analects of Confucius, and 18 of them have been identified by masters of all generations. They must be sham characters. So how can one remaining sham character be said to be not sham character?"

"What's more, if this word is a false character, it doesn't make sense. This statement comes from the 17th Yanghuo chapter of the Analects of Confucius. If the 'female' is a 'ru', this sentence means: (Yanghuo) You are generally difficult to get along with a villain."

"If this word is indeed a false word, then Confucius never said disdainful words to women. Even if a woman still wants to obey men, she does not have to be as humble as the Neo-Confucian school said."

"This." Suddenly, a burst of air thunder sounded at the scene, and then many people started to talk to the people around them.

Chen Ying's point of view is too novel! Perhaps a long time ago, some people had doubted whether the word "女" was a false character, but as time passed, Dong Zhongshu's explanation of the Analects became an orthodox explanation. Although later generations have continued to question his explanation, no one has ever doubted this sentence because the meaning of this sentence is too clear, and even farmers who do not read can understand it. Therefore, even if the Neo-Confucian School uses this sentence as the basis for its own refutation, it has not carefully analyzed whether the word "女" may be a false character, and has now been refuted by Chen Ying in one fell swoop.

If it were normal for this sentence to be reinterpreted, it would not be a big blow to the Neo-Confucian School, but now this sentence is an important basis for the debate between Neo-Confucian School and other schools. If the original explanation is overturned, Neo-Confucian School will immediately fall into crisis.

"You are just a family statement. Although the other eighteen characters "女" are all Ru, you cannot think that the character "女" is also known as Ru." Song Lin reacted and retorted loudly.

"In the "Book of Rites" the Doctrine of the Mean: 'The way of a gentleman is to be exhausted and hidden, and the stupidity of a husband and wife can be known to him. Even the sages do not know what he is, and even the unfilial couple can be done, even the sages do not know what he is."

"The couple in this word does not refer to husband and wife, but to men, women and the common people. Since ancient times, Confucians have believed that students have no other opinions. But from this we can see that Confucius used the word "woman" to call "female" son instead of "female". So how can we think that "female" in "only women and villains are difficult to raise" means women?" Chen Ying did not say loudly again.

These words completely overwhelmed the Neo-Confucian School, making the Neo-Confucian School present unable to speak. If they want to refute Chen Ying's words now, they have to prove that the word "couple" in the Doctrine of the Mean of the Book of Rites means husband and wife, but if the couple in this sentence is explained as "couple and wife", they cannot make any sense.

In addition, there is also a word specifically expressing the meaning of a wife in the Book of Rites, which is the word "wife". They have no room for refutation.

Chen Ying said these words, and saw that everyone in the Neo-Confucian school present was speechless, some of them showed depressedness, and some of them were somewhat proud to dust off the dust on their bodies, bowed and said, "My colleagues, the students still have something to do, so let's take a step first." Then he left here.

The two policemen sitting on the roof of the police station looked at Chen Ying who was leaving in a daze. They guessed that Chen Ying must have something amazing, but they didn't expect the effect to be so good. Although they couldn't understand what Chen Ying said, they could understand it by seeing the reaction of the host present.

But they quickly became excited because there was something to brag about with others.'After Chen Zhongshu told this truth, many officials present were angry and wanted to beat Chen Zhongshu. Fortunately, I risked my life to save him. Chen Zhongshu thanked me...'One of them had conceived how to tell others about this in his mind.

However, it was precisely because of the distorted words of many ordinary people that these words spread quickly. Not only the officials of the dynasty knew it, but even the people inside and outside the capital knew it, and the scholars living in the countryside knew it. The Neo-Confucian School quickly fell into many crises.

What's even worse is that someone posted a big-character poster, listing several major crimes of Zhu Xi being impeached during his lifetime: seducing nuns to think that they favored concubines, and their family wives were pregnant without husbands. He attacked Zhu Xi, one of the important representatives of the Neo-Confucian school from a private moral perspective.

Now, the Neo-Confucian School fell even more into a storm. Originally, in the Confucius era, private morality was not completely compared with public morality, but in later generations, the two were compared. If private morality was not good, people would be considered bad. Zhu Xi himself, how could his theory be considered correct? Although the Neo-Confucian School went through the old papers and found the records of that year, trying to prove that Zhu Xi only took two nuns as concubines, and his daughter-in-law was not pregnant. However, hundreds of years have passed, and it is very difficult to fully prove it; not to mention that even if only nuns as concubines is a scandal, the Neo-Confucian School was almost completely beaten in a short period of time.

But at this moment, Huiyuan Zhou Shu, who had not yet participated in the palace examination, suddenly posted a big-character poster saying: "The chapter on Wei Linggong in the Analects of Confucius says: The Master said: 'A gentleman does not speak for others, nor does he use others to dismiss words.' Although Zhu Xi's own personal morality is quite suspicious, he cannot think that his words are all wrong at once. Neo-Confucianism has many reasonable points."

After he said this, many people who held the same viewpoint as him spoke out, opposing the practice of completely defeating the Neo-Confucian School.

But this actually makes the real Neo-Confucian school even more embarrassing because Neo-Confucian school itself advocates the unity of public and private, and this statement is equivalent to further denying the foundation of Neo-Confucian school.

Finally, Yun Yu took action at the right time, indicating that although there are many fallacies in the Neo-Confucian school, there are some advantages, which allowed the Zhou Li School to absorb some of the views of the Neo-Confucian school. However, not all people from the Zhou Li School were willing to do so, so the Zhou Li School split, and one of them formed a new school, which was called the prototype of the Ming Li School in later generations. However, this is all a later story.

At this point, most of the Neo-Confucian school people turned to other schools, and the remaining people could only survive. After many years, after all the remaining people died, the real Neo-Confucian school became extinct. Unless another major political change similar to the Mongolian destruction of the Song Dynasty occurred, the Neo-Confucian school would not rise again.
