Chapter 107 The Ming Dynasty

After the second Northern Expedition ended, Zhu Yuanzhang did not launch any major battles for a long time later.

It was not until the 13th year of Hongwu (1380 AD) that Zhu Yuanzhang launched the third Northern Expedition.

Eight years apart.

And in the past eight years, a lot of things have happened.

The most important things are the selection of officials, the death of Liu Ji, the split of military power (it can be said to be military reform), central reform and local reform.

We will tell you all about these.

To be honest, I don't want to write about these.

I personally think that compared with fighting, these literati can do things that are boring and boring to write, but there is no way. After all, if you want to understand history and truly understand the Ming Dynasty, you must list all these things.

Otherwise, this history is not a complete history.

This is like a level.

Just like when we play games, these contents are like fighting small monsters, not old monsters, and have little effect on experience and contribution values.

But this procedure is also necessary.

After all, it is impossible to keep letting you fight against the old demon in the game.

Do it and take a break.

Find a few monsters to fight and kill time.

This is logical.

This will also extend the online time of gamers.

Things that kill multiple goals in one go.

Therefore, if you want to understand history, you must pass.

In order to minimize boredom, I will do my best to write easily and beautifully.

Come on, let's get through the level together!

After successfully passing the level, there are more exciting things waiting for us later.

Since we are passing the level, let’s start with the initial country name.

Many people mistakenly regard the Ming Dynasty's national name as: Ming.

I need to correct it here.

The real name of the country established by Zhu Yuanzhang is: Ming Dynasty.

Commonly known as: Ming Dynasty.

But later, many people briefly made it simple to read.

Read it as Ming Dynasty.

In mathematics, this form is called: rounding.

In fact, its real name is: Ming Dynasty.

There are several different statements about Zhu Yuanzhang's name as the Ming Dynasty.

The first statement is caused by geopolitical theory:

Zhu Yuanzhang was born in Anhui, and Anhui belonged to the south, and he established his capital in Nanjing, both of which belonged to the southern region.

According to our geographical structure, the north has a cold climate, water, and the south has a hot climate, and fire.

According to the theory of "Yin and Yang Studies", fire is yang and water is yin. The climate in the south is hot, so it belongs to fire as yang, while the temperature in the north is low, and the climate in the north is cold, so it belongs to yin as water.

Although this statement cannot be wrong, I always feel that something is wrong. It is always awkward to define the country name simply by relying on this explanation.

This is mainly because of its name.

If this statement is based on this statement, if Zhu Yuanzhang established his capital in Nanjing, it would be called the Ming Dynasty.

If Zhu Yuanzhang had a temporary short-circuit at that time, or if he accidentally got kicked by a donkey one day and moved the capital to the north, would he have to change his name to the Big Yin Dynasty?

Dayin Dynasty!

No matter how you pronounce this name, you feel so oozing, and you feel like your scalp is numb and your whole body is chilling.

So I think it would not work if you just rely on this point to take the word Ming Dynasty.

The second statement is caused by the Ming Cult, or it can be said to be caused from the perspective of superstition.

This can work for military officials.

Everyone knows that Zhu Yuanzhang was born into the Ming Cult.

From the moment he rebelled and defected to Guo Zixing, he was already a member of the Ming Cult, and his father-in-law Guo Zixing was a member of the Ming Cult. The Han Liner-long-phoenix regime he had served was a product of the Ming Cult. Zhu Yuanzhang himself once admitted that he was a member of the Ming Cult.

However, in order to stabilize his regime and to whitewash his identity, he began to gradually fade away the Ming Cult, and later began to suppress and cleanse the Ming Cult.

But none of these can erase the fact that he was once a member of the Ming Cult.

If we don’t mention Zhu Yuanzhang’s factors, it can be explained just from the perspective of his subordinates.

Although Zhu Yuanzhang established a regime by himself, many of his subordinates still served the Ming Cult, especially those military officials who held military power. Many of them were devout Ming Cult. Although they served Zhu Yuanzhang's regime, this did not have any substantial conflict with them being a member of the Ming Cult.

They still eat vegetarian food and recite Buddha's name the same way, worshiping the sun and the moon.

Therefore, the word Ming is in line with their beliefs and more in line with the needs of people like Wufu.

The third principle needs to be spoken from a literary perspective.

This makes sense for those civil officials.

For example, Song Lian, Liu Ji, or Li Shanchang.

It's easy to explain from a literary perspective.

Ming is composed of sun and moon. Both of them represent light, and bright itself also represents light.

The establishment of a regime itself requires development towards light, which can be understood as growth or expectation.

It can be explained by a classic word we have now, that is, the sunrise industry.

A regime needs to be full of vitality and vitality from its founding to its final step-by-step growth.

As literati, they don’t want the regime they had finally assisted to start going downhill before they even started working, and they were overthrown by others within a few days.

Therefore, excluding religious factors, the word Ming can be accepted by literati.

From a literary perspective, it can also meet the psychological needs of literati and patriots.

The last rule comes from a person.

This person is: Liu Ji.

His theoretical basis is to Zhu Yuanzhang.

This theory is considered legend in many people, but I think it is not. I believe this can completely meet Zhu Yuanzhang's psychological needs.

Liu Ji said that Zhu Yuanzhang killed Han Lin'er, the king of Xiaoming (he probably guessed it, but people with discerning eyes can understand this kind of thing with their butts). Isn't Han Lin'er called Xiaoming Wang, so we are called Daming Wang.

He is smaller and older.

He is weak and I am strong.

He is dead, but I, Zhu Yuanzhang, are still alive.

So in order to be able to restrain him, to avoid causing trouble for yourself, to seek profit and avoid evil, then we call it Daming and suppress it in the name!

This seems a bit funny on the surface, but I think it can be used on Zhu Yuanzhang because I think Zhu Yuanzhang himself is very superstitious.

And it is a profound superstition.

His superstitious core manifestation is in attacking Nanjing.

I'm not saying that he shouldn't attack Nanjing. Of course, he is not wrong in attacking Nanjing. It's not wrong to occupy Nanjing City after the capture. However, Nanjing City was once the capital of the four countries, and the superstitious view of dragon energy exists in it.

And his name to Nanjing.

Before Zhu Yuanzhang took Nanjing, the name of this city was originally called Jinling.

However, after Zhu Yuanzhang conquered, he changed his name to Yingtian.

To respond to heaven means to follow the will of heaven,

After changing his name, he also carried out self-development when he issued an edict, creating a classic word that influenced countless of us: to follow the will of heaven, and the emperor ordered it to be!

This line undoubtedly reveals his superstition and deep respect for the will of heaven.

His superstition was not an isolated case at that time. Many people born in Zhu Yuanzhang had common characteristics of superstition.

So I said this can serve Zhu Yuanzhang himself.

Of course, this point can also be counter-served to the second argument, and it also applies to those uneducated military officials.

To sum up, I think that the reason why Zhu Yuanzhang named the Ming Dynasty was not very tenable except that the first point was not very tenable, all the other three points made sense.

The word Ming Dynasty can meet everyone's needs, whether for military officials, civil officials, or Zhu Yuanzhang himself.

Especially the last point of view, it is particularly suitable for Zhu Yuanzhang himself.

Finally, under the witness of everyone, the country's name was established as the Ming Dynasty.

With the final determination of the name, the glorious history of the 276-year period of the Ming Dynasty unfolded!

This moment belongs not only to Zhu Yuanzhang, but also to everyone who has given his blood, sweat and even his life.
