Chapter 165: Oppression and Slavery

In Hogwarts, Mr. Pringer, the custodian of the castle, has never been likable.

Even in the castle, there were many terrible rumors related to him.

But I have to say for him that Mr. Pringer has never really punished a student, especially such a cruel method.

Even if a student like Neville who had seriously violated school rules and was sentenced to confinement, he was just doing some miscellaneous work with chains.

And now, Mr. Pringer's hideous means almost shocked Neville and Hermione.

"Bang!" He whipped hard again.

The domestic elf who was drawn let out a wail.

Household elves are a very strange creature. They look skinny, small, and have bat-like ears, eye-sized as tennis balls, and have a longer and flat nose... At the same time, they can speak human words and look like short humans...

"Ah...ah...ah..." With whips and whips, the house elf screamed after screaming.

"Speak quickly... who instructed you to strike!" Mr. Pringer roared.

There was no answer, and all the house elves looked at their beating companions with great sympathy, but no one spoke.

"Damn it!" Mr. Pringer seemed a little angry and tried his best to whip the whip in his hand.

...

"No..." Hermione's eyes were filled with tears.

Fortunately, Matthew grabbed her in time, otherwise she might have been emotionally excited and rushed in to try to stop Mr. Pringer.

Even Neville Longbottom, who was born in the pure blood family, was very surprised by the scene in front of him.

Mr. Pringer gasped heavily at first. After resting for a while, he continued to start his interrogation, still such a hideous means.

Neville and Hermione could no longer bear to look at them.

Matthew pulled them and signaled them not to look at them anymore.

"Matthew, this is too cruel..." Hermione held back her tears and said softly, "They are slaves...those house elves..."

Matthew did not open his mouth, but pointed to a small iron door on the other side.

Then he took his two friends and quietly left the door of the room where Mr. Pringer was; because Matthew was worried that it would be too bad if they were out of control and Mr. Pringer discovered it!

Then, I walked to the other small iron door. The small iron door was very short and could only accommodate an adult domestic elf passing by. For a twelve or thirteen-year-old wizard like Matthew, he had to bend down to pass by.

As soon as I broke into the room, a foul smell suddenly came.

All three of them hurriedly covered their noses.

Then, the scene in front of them was shocked.

If you guess correctly, this small room should be the "lounge" of more than a hundred house elves.

A dense small bed appeared in front of them... A room about the size of their public lounge actually had nearly a hundred beds; the range of activities of each housekeeper's elves was probably the size of a "slap"...

Not only these, the sheets and bedding are extremely ragged, and they look like they have been used for decades. Many of the cotton in the bedding has fallen out... It is hard to imagine that these thin things have to accompany the little guys through the winter.

The room was very cold, there was no fireplace, and nothing else to keep warm... It was only November now. It was hard to imagine what they should do if it was the real cold winter.

And beside one of the beds, they found a small iron basin.

The iron basin contains something similar to slurry... In a sense, it can be called "food"...

Hermione bent down and approached the pot of things... Then, she seemed to be spitting out...

For any wizard, these things are unswallowed.

"Slave labor..." Hermione's breath became very heavy, and she couldn't easily say this sentence.

"After all, the house elves are cooking for Hogwarts. They can at least steal something while cooking..." Neville said deceivingly.

But he must also know that this is impossible. For domestic elves, stealing is completely impossible.

Matthew patted Hermione on the shoulder lightly: "Let's go!"

They have been in this kitchen for too long...

This was obviously not safe, especially as Mr. Pringer was right next to them, whipping the poor house elves hard with his whip.

...

The three of them tiptoed out of the kitchen again.

Fortunately, they were not discovered by Mr. Pringer... Although they didn't know, entering the kitchen was not considered a violation of school rules!

However, compared with the expressions they expressed very excitedly when they started entering the kitchen; the three of them now all looked extremely heavy.

Including Matthew Wakefield... although he had long expected that the domestic elves in this world would live a non-human life... but after witnessing their living environment and living conditions, he could not help but be shocked.

The three of them walked through the bright and wide stone corridor in silence.

When they appeared next to the auditorium again

"I can't believe it..." Hermione finally stopped silent, and she spoke with a little crying voice, "They actually treat those poor little guys like that... They cook for us, carry our luggage, clean the housework... but they still have to live such a hellish life..." : :

"Wake up, Hermione..." Neville said with a little "rationality", "They are just house elves... They are not wizards..."

"If you are not a wizard, can you do whatever you want?" Hermione suddenly became very angry. "Treat them like this...even if you face pets, you shouldn't... What's more, the help the house elves give us is much greater than that of pets..."

"They may not like a comfortable life..." Neville continued, "You don't know about house elves. They actually like hard work and hard work... If they are given a comfortable environment, they will actually be very uneasy..."

"Are you an idiot, Neville?" Hermione suddenly said angrily, "It's just a simple task... For the wizards... improve the working environment of the house elves... improve their lives..."

"Hermione..." Neville shrugged and looked at Matthew with help, "Matthew, please advise her..."

While wiping tears from the corners of her eyes, Hermione suddenly said, "So... they will treat Muggles like that in the future... will they?"
