Chapter 1520 Accidental encounter

The soldier quickly finished the phone call, walked back to me, looked at me with a vigilant look and asked, "I'm sorry, comrade commander, I just called and asked, but the duty room said I don't know about this."

"What, don't you know about this?" When I heard the warrior say this, I was stunned and thought to myself that there was Antonov's signature on the telegram. Did I receive a fake telegram?

The platoon leader behind me stepped forward and asked loudly at the soldier: "Comrade Warrior, where are your star officers?"

The soldier glanced at the guard platoon leader with contempt and said coldly: "No pass and no one can come to the General Staff at will."

"You..." Seeing the soldiers despise themselves so much, the guard platoon leader couldn't help but feel a little annoyed. He leaned forward slightly and planned to rush over to teach the other party a lesson. I knew very well that if we fought at the door of the General Staff, even if we were at the right place, there would be no good results. So he quickly stopped his guard platoon leader, tried hard to restrain his emotions, and asked the soldiers: "Comrade Soldier, please call your officer of the star, I have something to say to him."

Seeing my kind attitude, the soldier's hand that had grabbed the gun handle let go, and he turned around and said to another young soldier, "You go and invite the major, he should finish lunch at this time."

I took the platoon leader of the guard to the jeep parked across the road and whispered to him: "Comrade Lieutenant, this is the location of the General Staff of the Red Army. Don't be reckless. Even if the soldiers on duty show unfriendly behavior, they should remain calm. Do you understand?"

After hearing my words, the platoon leader looked at the warrior opposite him with a vicious look and said unwillingly: "Comrade Commander, can we just let it go?"

I glanced at the warrior standing straight at the gate and said casually: "The guard soldier did the right thing, and he is also doing his duty."

After waiting by the car for a while, I saw a major appearing at the door accompanied by a young soldier. The soldier who refused to let us in came forward to report to him and pointed his hand at the position we were at. The major looked at the direction of the soldier's fingers. After seeing us standing next to the car, there was a look of shock on his face. He ran to me as if he was flying, raised his hand to salute me, and reported his military rank and name to me according to the regulations, and finally asked: "General Oshanina, please forgive me, I just left temporarily."

"Do you know me?" I was very curious when I heard the major call out my name directly. After looking him up and down, I couldn't remember where I had seen him. Before he could answer, I continued, "Comrade Major, I was ordered to report to the General Staff. Can I let me in?"

"Comrade General, I met you from a distance when I accompanied Marshal Huaseyevsky to the front line." After briefly explaining why he could recognize me, the major asked with a serious expression: "Can I ask, who did you come from?"

"General Antonov." I looked at the major and replied expressionlessly: "I came to the General Staff to report on the orders of General Antonov, Deputy Chief of General Staff."

"So that's how it is." After hearing my answer, the major smiled, "Comrade General, you came to the wrong place. No wonder my subordinates couldn't find out who summoned you."

"What's going on?" The Major's words confused me, and I asked in confusion: "Isn't this the General Staff?"

"Yes, Comrade General, this is indeed the location of the General Staff." The major replied with a smile: "But there is also an office of the General Staff in the Kremlin, where Marshal Vasilevsky was usually in charge. But since he was injured, the Deputy Chief of General Staff General Antonov has been in charge. And here," he waved his head at the red building in the yard across the street and continued, "Now, the Deputy Chief of Staff General Ivanov."

After the major finished speaking, I asked tentatively: "Comrade Major, that is, I want to find General Antonov, and I have to go to the Kremlin?"

"Yes, that's it." The major smiled and said, "I'll call to notify there so that when you pass, you won't be stopped again."

"Thank you, Comrade Major." After I thanked the Major, I turned around and ordered the platoon leader of the guard standing aside: "Major, let the soldiers get in the car, and we will immediately go to the Kremlin."

The jeep and two trucks walked along the road beside the Moscow River and came to the near St. Basil's Church, and were blocked by the checkpoint located on the slope of Basil. A lieutenant with a submachine gun on his chest walked out of the checkpoint made of sandbags and wooden railings, came to our car, and asked loudly: "Which part of you are, what's the matter here?"

I quickly pushed open the car door, poked out half of my body, and said to the lieutenant: "Comrade Lieutenant, I am back from the front line and am going to meet Deputy Chief of General Staff General Antonov."

"Is it General Oshanina?" Before the lieutenant could reply, I saw a captain wearing a military coat running out from behind a pile of sandbags. He came to my car and stopped and reported, "I am here to welcome you on the orders of the Deputy Chief of Staff."

"Where is General Antonov?" I immediately asked the captain as soon as I got off the car.

"The Deputy Chief of Staff is in the Supreme Commander's office." The captain quickly reported to me respectfully: "I will take you to the General Staff Office now."

I nodded and said to the captain in a calm tone: "Captain, take me to the office."

The captain agreed in a hurry, turned around and walked towards the slope, leading the way for me. I had just taken two steps, but I was stopped by the lieutenant again. He stretched out his hand to me and said dryly: "Comrade General, please show your ID!"

After two more inspections, I finally passed the Kremlin gate and successfully arrived at the door of the General Staff Office. The captain stopped and said politely to me: "Comrade General, the conversation between the Deputy Chief of Staff and the Supreme Commander himself may not have ended yet. Just wait here for a while." As he said that, he raised his hand and pushed open the two closed wooden doors.

I walked into the office and saw that in addition to the desk lamp and telephone, the office opposite the door was filled with various documents. Just as I was looking at the decorations in the house, I suddenly heard a familiar voice: "Lida, you are here!"

I was startled by the sudden sound, and instinctively turned my head and looked in the direction where the sound came. I saw Zhukov sitting at a conference table covered with green, half-turning, putting one hand on the back of the chair, looking at me intently.

After a moment of doubt, I walked towards Zhukov with big strodes. After standing in front of him, I raised my hand and saluted: "Hello, Comrade Marshal, I am very happy to see you here!"

Zhukov stood up, reached out to hold my hand and then said slowly: "Lida, welcome you to Moscow, I've been waiting for you here."
