Chapter 4 A New Day

The crisp birds cries broke the silence of dawn and awakened the sleeping mountain village.

Cen Jiahua woke up amidst the pleasant sound of birds and began her new life in Banyanshu Village.

Walking out of the room and deeply sucked a deep breath of fresh air that was soaked in the fragrance of plants and trees. Cen Jiahua immediately felt a sense of comfort in his entire lungs.

Birds jump on the branches and cried softly, and from time to time, the crowing of roosters and the barking of dogs came from the sound of roosters; the small courtyards of farmhouses far and near at the foot of the mountain began to float one after another, and wisps of smog were flying with the mountain wind and blended with the morning mist in the valley, as light and elegant as clouds.

Although it is the end of June, the mountains have begun to fog, and the mist is spreading on the calm water surface of the reservoir, entangled with the steam rising from the water, outlining a landscape ink painting without any decoration.

This is an ordinary morning in the countryside. There is no hassle and noisy in big cities, but only peace and comfort.

After Cen Jiahua washed up, he went to the vegetable field at the bottom of the dam to pick a few tomatoes and make a bowl of tomato and egg noodles.

After Cen Jiahua signed the contract in Rongshu Village last time, he spent a lot of money to arrange the refrigerator, liquefied gas stove, electric water heater and other electrical appliances. After all, he is a city kid and is quite particular about material things.

Before Cen Jiahua finished eating the noodles, he heard the sound of motorcycle horns outside the yard, and then Lao Chen's loud voice came.

"Xiao Cen, the sun is shining on her butt, get up soon!"

When Cen Jiahua heard this, she immediately put down her bowl in a hurry, ran towards the door.

The gate was closed before Cen Jiahua rested at night. After all, there were still some valuable things in the yard. However, this iron general was just a guard against a gentleman. If a thief came, he probably wouldn't be able to defend himself.

"Here, come!" Cen Jiahua shouted loudly as she walked.

‘Bang’ Cen Jiahua took off the latch of the door and opened the iron door with force.

Sure enough, outside the gate was the village elder Chen and a group of big men and five or six motorcycles.

"Uncle Chen, why are you so early? I haven't finished my breakfast yet." Cen Jiahua complained to Lao Chen, while nodding to the people who came with Lao Chen.

"It's still early? It's almost seven o'clock! The sun is too poisonous now. I guess I can't get through 11 o'clock. I still have to start working early." As an old farmer, Old Chen is still very experienced and he just corrects Cen Jiahua's wrong concepts.

Old Chen is in his early 50s this year. He served as a soldier in his early years and participated in the self-defense counterattack against Vietnam. After returning to his hometown, he began to serve as a village official in Rongshu Village, from the militia captain to the current village branch secretary and village chief. He is tall, upright and upright, and is deeply supported by the villagers of Rongshu Village. Even though he has been discharged from the army for many years, his decisive style of maintaining health in the army has not changed.

"Oh, so that's how it is?" Cen Jiahua scratched her head embarrassedly, and then said, "Well, wait for me to get the keys, we'll go there now."

After saying that, Cen Jiahua turned around and ran into the house.

The dam of the reservoir runs north and south. The yard where Cen Jiahua lives is located is at the southernmost end of the dam. To enter the dam, you must pass through a gate next to the yard.

Cen Jiahua used the fastest time to change into a set of camouflage uniforms and rubber shoes for labor, and then found the key to the door in the drawer. Just as he was about to go out, he thought about it, but he still found a red river smoke in his suitcase.

Walking out of the room, Cen Jiahua found that the helpers had parked their motorcycles under the shed in the yard by Lao Chen's greeting.

When he walked up, Cen Jiahua sent the cigarettes in his hand one by one, and together with Lao Chen, each of the ten people, he happened to have a pack of them. When he was sending the cigarettes, Lao Chen introduced them to Cen Jiahua. In a hurry, Cen Jiahua could not remember everyone, but at least he left an impression. There were many opportunities to deal with him next, just take it slowly.

The first impression of Cen Jiahua, the young boss, is pretty good. After all, he is short of staff. Originally, everyone was a little unhappy about taking a few days to help Cen Jiahua build a duck house during the busy farming season, but because of the village chief's face, he had to agree.

However, now it seems that this young man is still very good at being a human being and probably won’t treat himself badly. In the future, he may have a lot of help in the reservoir. Thinking of this, everyone is becoming more and more enthusiastic about Cen Jiahua.

This is a bit peasant-like cunning.

When my father was at home, he bought this Red River Yan for Cen Jiahua, saying that it would come in handy when asking for help in the countryside. He didn't believe it at that time, but now he realized that his father's decades of human nature are really not a mess.

After the greetings, everyone packed their tools and started to set off.

Following the main road to the right of the yard, passing through the gate in the middle of the tall wall, and then passing the flood discharge vent, the group of people came to the dam.

The entire Lotus Reservoir is built between mountains and around the reservoir, with basically cliffs. Most people have no way to enter the reservoir from elsewhere. Only next to the dam is there a small wharf that can go up and down the reservoir.

Following the long stairs, Cen Jiahua and the others came to the edge of the dock. A small boat and two rows of bamboo rafts were tied to the iron pillars on the dock. As a city man, Cen Jiahua naturally would not fiddle with these things, but fortunately, Lao Chen and the others were all veterans.

In just a few minutes, the group had already boarded the boat and headed towards the island in the center of the reservoir.

Sitting next to Cen Jiahua was a man with a scar on his face, looking a little ferocious, and I don’t know how it came about. Although he looked fierce, he was very polite in his words.

"Boss Cen, are you planning to use feed or food to raise ducks?" The scared man said to Cen Jiahua after taking a deep breath of cigarettes.

"Uncle, don't call me Boss Cen, it's quite strange." Cen Jiahua was still a little uncomfortable with it, and then said, "Just just call me Xiao Cen like Uncle Chen. I plan to feed it specifically with grain and sell it to the provincial capital in the future."

"Haha, it's still the people from the city who are capable." The man sighed and continued, "Xiao Cen, just call me to let Uncle."

"Uncle Fang? Are your surname Fang? Or Fang?" Cen Jiahua thought there was something wrong with her ears, so she heard it badly.

"Hehe, Xiao Cen, you don't know what we are doing here yet, right?" The man grinned, showed his yellow smoke teeth, and then said, "We usually call people here by name, just like me, with my surname Wu's name Fang, so you should call me Uncle Fang."

In this way, Cen Jiahua understood that when Lao Chen introduced him just now, this uncle and that uncle were all very strange, which made him constantly wonder when this surname was among the Baijia surnames.

Cen Jiahua's face turned red, and then she suddenly realized: "I understand! If you hadn't told me, I would have been kept in the dark."

"What's this? You'll know it if you stay here for a long time." Uncle Fang waved his hand and said, "What kind of breed do your ducks plan to raise?"
