Chapter 848 848 Road to Glory

On May 24, 1994, the first anniversary tour of Glory to Death officially kicked off.

A year ago, on May 25, the Glory To Death Band was officially established, with five bands gathering Hugo Lancaster, Drop Neil Fokin Reinhart, Neil Anderson, Alfonso Lopez, and Giulio Pedro Cesar Casa announced their birth in Los Angeles.

This band that gathered due to common interests and hobbies could never have imagined that in a year, they would become the representative of American New Wave rock. Their first official ticket tour would actually set off such a frenzy, completely igniting the heat wave of midsummer in 1994.

The official itinerary, named "Glory.road" tour announced on April 11. Glory will start its journey from the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, then pass through San Francisco, heading to Las Vegas, Seattle, Cheyenne, Denver, Houston, Dallas, New Orleans, Nashville, Chicago, Atlanta, Miami, Philadelphia, Washington, and finally arrive in New York.

The tour started on May 24th and lasted until July 16th. It lasted for nearly two months, with a total of 32 performances, which can be said to be intensive performances. Glory to death will present an audio-visual feast to all listeners.

This will also be a tour that truly demonstrates its strength to the death. It is different from the carnival at the music festival and the casualness of street performances. This tour is a ticketing performance. Whether the band's performance is worthy of the ticket price, the attendance rate of the concert, and the reputation of the audience will all become the focus of attention.

This time, the tour of Glory to Death will be a traditional rock band. Take a band bus and immediately take a bus to the next city after the performance in one city. This road tour is also the most rock-spirited way, but it is different from the tour of Glory to Death last year. Last year, Glory to Death almost goes wherever you go, but this time the itinerary is planned. Last year, Glory to Death last year was performed on the streets, but this time, ticketing performances were performed in a fixed concert venue.

This means that loyal fans can clearly grasp the band's trends, performance venues, hotels, and departure routes have been made public in advance. It can be imagined that a large number of fans will follow the band from scratch and complete this tour. Especially this tour is completely included in the summer vacation, which is undoubtedly a huge good news for fans.

As soon as the itinerary of the "Road of Glory" tour was announced, it caused heated discussions in countless media, especially the news of Cote Coburn's death at that time, which reawakened the entire market's infinite remembrance of rock. As the band with the highest discussion in the past six months, the similarities between Glory To Death and Nirvana bands have been repeatedly mentioned. Under such circumstances, the topic and exposure of "Road of Glory" have risen sharply.

On April 18, Los Angeles and San Francisco began selling tickets, selling tickets to Los Angeles on May 24 and 25, and tickets to San Francisco on May 27 and 28 respectively.

The venue in Los Angeles can accommodate 17,000 spectators. Last year, Glory chose this place as the end of the road tour until death. It was not a ticketing performance. Glory to death, which had not yet released the album, was completely "nameless", but they gathered more than 10,000 spectators to arrive at the scene, which was a grand occasion and triggered many topics.

San Francisco is held at the coastline amphitheatre in the south of the city. The coastline amphitheatre is not indoors in San Francisco and must be driven along the coastline to reach it. It is about forty miles away. However, after the theater was completed in 1986, it has been one of the most famous concert venues in California. Big brands such as Pearl Sauce, Nirvana, Guns and Roses are willing to arrange concerts here, and countless music carnivals, including the Junjie Music Festival, are also very happy to hold them here, and residents of "Country on the Wheel" are also willing to drive to attend the concert feast.

The coastline open-air theater is significantly larger in scale, with a total capacity of 22,500 audiences, which is far more spacious than the Hollywood Open-air theater.

When EDA Records announced that the venue of the two concerts will be held until its death, many media actually expressed concerns: concerns about attendance.

The past six months since Glory died, it was indeed a shocking momentum, but after all, it was just a new band, and only one album was released at present. More importantly, this is a ticketing concert, which requires enough audiences to open their pockets and enter the live concert.

The ticketless concert held at the Los Angeles Open-air Theatre only gathered 10,000 audiences. This data is incredible for a band that has not yet released an album, but objectively: it is not full, it only occupied two-thirds of the audience.

So what about ticket sales now? Can all seats be filled? Will the attendance rate not exceed 50%? What's even more terrifying is that the coastline open-air theater in San Francisco can accommodate more than 20,000 audiences, which is a arduous task than the Hollywood Open-air Theater.

The decisive factor that makes the media worry lies in the ticket price of concerts. Watching concerts in the United States is generally not expensive. Generally, the concert venues should be around 12 to 28 US dollars, and the luxurious concert venues should be around 25 to 56 US dollars. Of course, performing singers also have an impact. If singers are worried about attendance, reducing ticket prices is a very effective means.

Hollywood Balcony Theater and Coastline Open-State Amphitheater are both high-end concert venues with outstanding equipment. The media generally estimates that the tickets for the Honor to Death fluctuate between 25 and 36 dollars, which is an acceptable range. However, when EDA Records announced the ticket price, it suddenly settled in the range of 36 to 50 dollars, which is obviously one level higher than the price speculated by the media.

It is really a burden for a new band who has been in the industry for less than a year. You should know that the unemployment rate has remained high in the past two years and the economy is still sluggish. Concert tickets can be regarded as an extra luxury, at least much more expensive than movie tickets for $7 per ticket.

But after the ticket window opened, all the media fell into glasses.

Los Angeles was the first to usher in a ticket purchase frenzy. This city, known as the birthplace of glory to death, has accumulated a wide range of fan base. After confirming that ticket sales began, a terrible long queue of major ticket sales windows was lined up. In an era when the Internet and telephone ticket booking were not yet popular, if everyone wants to buy tickets, they must go to the ticket window to buy them in person.

As a result, the five ticketing sites in Los Angeles ushered in a rare queuing scene. Even the smallest place had at least a team of at least 100 people. The ticket gate of the Hollywood Bowl Theater, which gathered the most crowds, gathered more than 1,500 fans in line. This grand occasion even attracted local TV stations in Los Angeles to conduct on-site reports, becoming a grand occasion on April 18.

Within just two days, all tickets in Los Angeles on May 24 were sold out, and less than 24 hours later, all tickets on the 25th were officially announced to be sold. Nearly 35,000 concert tickets on the 24th and 25th were sold so quickly, which immediately became the most concerned news of the media in the past two days. Even the Los Angeles Times wrote an article on the entertainment edition to report on the grand occasion of fans buying tickets.

What is even more surprising is that many fans who did not buy tickets actually wandered near the Hollywood Balcony Theater for a long time and were reluctant to leave for a long time. This really exceeded the media's expectations: their appeal to glory until death is still underestimated. So, what went wrong?

Tom Hanks mentioned this jokingly when doing the "Forrest Gump" early promotion. "Because of this, Colin and I had a little awkward relationship. Originally, Colin planned to queue up to buy tickets for concerts by himself. He was upset about missing the Junjie Music Festival, so he started looking forward to it when he learned that Glory was about to be held until his death. But Rita also wanted to watch this concert, and it would definitely be a good experience, so the purchase of tickets fell on my shoulders. I originally planned to go and buy tickets after the interview today, but when I saw the 'Los Angeles Times', I knew the bad news, and the atmosphere of the breakfast was ruined."

Colin Hanks is Tom's eldest son, born to him and his first wife; and Rita Wilson is Tom's second wife.

Tom was obviously helpless about this matter, "I plan to call Hugo later to see if there are still internal tickets to stay. I hope there will be a VIP seat in this show, so that I will at least have hope."

Not only Tom Hanks, but Johnny Depp also said at the "ed.wood" final press conference, "Oh, this is far beyond my expectations. I have always wanted to watch the live performance of Glory to Death. I was very interested in hearing their outstanding performance at the JJ Music Festival. But my agent brought me bad news. I can only hope that when Las Vegas tickets start selling, I can catch up in time."

Judy Foster was recognized by fans at the ticketing site. She was in a very bad mood now. When interviewed by the reporter, she also roared helplessly, "God! I need a ticket, I need a ticket! Ticket!" After she calmed down, she told the reporter, "I had expected such a situation. The music of glory to death is worthy of people's crazy. I have heard of the crazyness of the Junjie Music Festival, so I came here early this morning to queue up, but I still missed it. I hope my agent can bring me good news in San Francisco."

Honor until his death, has emerged as a comet in the past few months. The momentum of Junjie Music Festival and the "Four Second Stage" has made their strong strength recognized. Therefore, when the official concert kicked off, it was naturally sought after, including Hugo's Hollywood colleagues.
